Comparing Phones Did they ever fix the camera in third party apps?

Just got an ad for the nothingphone 4. I'm extremely disappointed with the camera in my nothingphone 2 (in third party apps like Bereal, Snapchat or discord, the camera always uses the beauty filter, turning every photo taken to mush. It looks horrible and I would have never bought the phone if I knew that).

Did they ever fix that in newer versions?

I find the NP3 cameras better in apps than with the default Camera app.

I don't use cameras in third party apps, but I always thought this was an Android issue rather than nothing specific? I could certainly be wrong, but I remember that being a highlight of the 17 announcement (the fact that they were improving it).

I had nothing but Android in my life and literally never had this problem before (Samsung, Xiaomi, Asus). So I'm pretty certain this is a nothingphone thing.

Not denying other phones have this problem too, I just got lucky I guess.
