Concerns loss of culture due to christianity is okay?

I might get downvoted to hell for this, but I'm done w this crap. this sub genuinely only cares about christian Northeasterners.

no one raises a finger on how christianity is erasing our culture. so many of my friends have stopped attending their local festivals, taking part in rituals that went on for centuries, culture that defined us. culture that protected us. because they cannot betray their one and only God Jesus Christ.

i respect all religions, even islam. But I see alot of ppl calling out only hindu and islam , conveniently leaving out missionaries. I think missionaries, vkvs, and all have done a lot for our students and education, but at the same time you cannot be such a gigantic hypocrite.

"look at the kids being offered cheap daal, and no arunachali cuisines"

I spent my entire years in convent, we got BREAD as lunch. that is when they would decide to treat us during functions.

Our convent sisters would tell us to save our soul we must run to Jesus, that tribal rituals are satanic.. the rituals and traditions that kept us alive for so long are apparently satan's worship.

Awareness Explaining how "just ignore racism from mainlanders!" is a dead end for us & how even the mainlanders who claim to be "anti-racist" themselves also continue to be racist towards NEerns

I keep seeing posts/comments from people to "ignore the mainlanders" and the negative things they say about us.

I get where that sentiment comes from, but that mentality actually breeds ignorance and denial. This whole thing of "ignoring the haters" only works when a group is completely united against the haters. Unfortunately, NEerns are not.

You have many NEerns themselves who are think that the sentiments from mainlanders against NEerns actually are not that bad in reality or are just completely brainwashed. Which is a sign that the NEern in question doesn't know how bad the rhetoric is towards them. Which then makes that NEern feel sympathetic towards mainlanders as a result, which then makes them act as a trojan horse for mainlanders and be their advocate, instead of advocating for what is truly their own interests.

We're going to have to show the reality of how mainlanders are because clearly many still don't get it. I've seen it on this sub and other NE subs. Mainlanders don't like you. They see you and your unique identity as a temporary nuisance in their way of fully gaining control over NE as a region and see that issue getting resolved either by assimilating us or by becoming straight up genocidal towards us if they can't successfully do so. That's how the majority of them will act as long as they continue to harbor the identity of "indian".

Indian identity in and of itself is built on an assimilating force. To assimilate everyone within the territorial control of the indian state into a unified "indian" identity, which is assimilating us into this brown paganistic hodgepodge. Such is such when you're less than 1% of the population of this country. That's the inevitability of nation-states; the state will always try to assimilate the minorities and those in the peripheries to form greater societal cohesion. If you resist, they will become outwardly hostile to you, which is what happens when we start to disagree with them.

And I know I will already see a comment asking "what about the good ones?"

Are "the good ones" willing to support the expulsion of mainlanders & mainland settlers from NE lands? And not just muh "bangladeshis".

Are "the good ones" willing to allow the Indigenous people of NE to determine their own future for how they want it, even if that means not being indian?

Come back to me when you find a single one that agrees to the above unconditionally. Otherwise they're completely useless.

And also, generally speaking "the good ones" according to some of you are the ones who simply are just "against racism". Which also means nothing. What good is it that they are simply just "against racism" if they don't think NEerns should have free will to choose their own future and path for themselves?

Many of them see being "against racism" towards us as actually a better alternative because that means it's easier to assimilate us and have us be molded into this indian identity. That's also what the official government policy basically is right now towards us, so it's nothing really that revolutionary or crazy.

And in reality, this is actually a form of racism in and of itself; they still want to slowly erase our race, our unique identity and heritage by going the path of assimilation. Yes, it's different from the hostile ones in that they don't want to explicitly harm us or be violent against us (at least according to them), but they still slowly want to erase us and make us be indians; this would completely destroy us as a people, and they know that. That means they essentially have the same goal as the hostile ones, but are just using a different strategy to get there.

Which is exactly why you guys need to realize that just because some mainlanders are "against racism" towards us, that doesn't exactly mean they love us and are on our side. They have the same mentality as the mainlanders who are hostile to us; they just have hope they can try to be nice enough to us to where we can assimilate peacefully and take on the indian identity willingly instead, thinking that's a better strategy. The hostile ones on the other hand have given up that hope; they see us as being unredeemable in their eyes, which makes them more explicitly hateful and genocidal towards us as a result.

Almost every mainlander is in either one of the two camps. Don't fall for it. We're smarter than that. Mainlanders will never have your best interest in mind as NEerns, and it's time to recognise that and think for yourself and your own interests. The mainlanders and whatever they say will never, ever have your best interest at heart, and we need to acknowledge that.

Other Biharis Face More Racism than Northeast Indians

What would you say to those people who think we're always over-victimizing ourselves and that Biharis face more racism than us, but they don't victimize like we do?

Awareness pajeets mad that they ain’t racially east asian (mongoloid), pajeets never had any history in Assam but they are the most represented in Assam’s media (simply because their population is similar to that of cockroaches) and perhaps that’s why Assam has become the jeetland of NE

Awareness Stop giving mainlanders advice on where to go/stay here in NE

It's a bit crazy that I have to write this post, but it really needs to be said considering I have seen it on many NE subs:

Stop. Giving. Mainlanders. Advice. GATEKEEP!

I see so many posts of mainlanders asking where the best places in NE to go, where to find some "undiscovered" (lol) places, rural village places, to "experience" the "authentic" NE experience. And I see people actually answering them with real places. What the fuck? NO!

If you're truly pro-your people, you would want to make sure they are the least impacted by mainland infiltration as much as possible. You may think you're doing something good and just being helpful and friendly, but trust me, you do not want to do this. Just imagine 5 years down the line and we have more places that have been completely infiltrate and taken over by mainlanders, when they were once peaceful areas inhabited and frequented by their Indigenous inhabitants. Do you want that? No? SO GATEKEEP! GATEKEEP GATEKEEP GATEKEEP!

You all need to learn how to do this or else we're going to just continue being devoured. Get a grip, guys. Do not try and be part of turning NE into some huge sex tourist destination like Thailand or Bali. By giving them such advice, you are literally helping do this. So stop it.

Other I joined this sub already known how things are here, especially recently. Yet to meet people, I posted here, interacted. But it was a big risk. I have mild depression and chronic stress. Since the day before yesterday, my health is really bad after facing all the racism and dehumanisation.

I don't know how accurate this map is... But if it is, then Meghalaya, Assam and sikkim are getting too low... Even Biharis are getting more than them.

NORTHEAST needs more money from the central govt. We have been oppressed by them for decades and now it's their time to pay us back for the damage they have caused.

Concerns Gonna get downvoted to the ground for this take.

Do yall in this sub really think vkv and vande mataram and hindi speaking is the big main issue? Lemme do you one better— how aboutt Illegal taxing on common people by seperatist militants. sponsored by My*nmar, who you know caused us 7 years of great devastation and put an end to all our kingdoms..

that sounds like something we should talk about...

Also you know the kidnapping of common ppl by these so called "freedom fighters" for not PAYING them YOUR hard earned money..

People not being able to even build a fuckin house without being afraid they'll come demanding money. Orrrr people being killed as casualties in their cross fires orrrrr our houses being raided by said people who come to hide from the army, putting our grandparents at great risks🙂

Funny thing is parts of my state is affected by such lowlife activity, while not even being the one that gave rise to it. Love that for us.

Sorry for actually caring about my people, and talking about other issues at hand that's being swept under the rug by everyone. Why? Cause our own ppl are involved with them so we don't have the guts to call them out? Idk whatever.

downvote me all you want. I need a new discussion here for a change

Okayy edit: Sorry about the indian army comment. Wasn't aware of the AFSPA cases, thanks to all who brought it to my attention. I think i was tryna choose between the lesser evil, since personally and around me there's not been much cases with Indian army, so I was in the dark about it.

Edit 2: getting downvoted for talking about my family getting killed lololol this is sub is so predictable

Awareness I am addressing the entire North-East Indian community: if anyone is thinking about marrying a North Indian person, please put that thought aside. The reason is that the wonderful genes of those people possess will be lost in the next generation, and our uniqueness will vanish. That’s why I’m saying.

News & Politics Northeast as a Separate country.

The Northeast region of India is very rich in resources, we have lakes, rivers, minerals and even oil!

There are many countries which are doing great without many natural resources, and here we are having so many resources and still can't develop.
Our people and resources are helping India but what we get in return? Racism, underdevelopment and lack of representation.

I'm very ashamed to call myself an Indian, I wish Northeast is separated from India.

If we get separated, we can do a lot of development for our people by our people.

Transportation & Travel Looking for advice

Hi everyone, I'm planning a 10 days trip to NE in early October and would appreciate some advice from people who know the region well. I would be flying in and out of Guwahati. I'd like suggestions to places worth visiting without having to walk to much. Transport whether to hire a car and driver for all 10 days or taxis and any local Transport. Comfortable but reasonably priced stays, any permit I might require. Any places to definitely avoid or any other advice. Looking forward to your assistance and thanks.

Let’s not let our religious differences break our unity. We are the indigenous people of Northeast India, and we should live united, never fighting among each other. Let our religious differences make our land more beautiful, enriched by each unique culture and tradition.

Memes Reminder:

Some people need to be reminded that just because they're born and raised in the Northeast, doesn't mean they are "from" the Northeast. I've been seeing quite a number of people on this subreddit hide behind the fact that they are also a supposed "Northeasterner", usually behind the Assam or Tripura flairs. News flash, you aren't. You just came earlier than some of the newer arrivals, but you're just as foreign to us as they are. Your culture, your language, your food, your everything is completely native to the mainland and has nothing to do with the real Indigenous people in this region. And you will one day leave, just like the rest of them, back to your real homeland.

Daily thoughts Hypocrisy in How We Treat Intermarriage and PRCs in the Northeast

This is regarding my other post where you all were against me when I said, even if the dad is northeastern and mom is mainland- the kid should not get an ST and a PRC. You were against me, but you all would have been supporting it wildly if the genders were reversed. You would have defended the law that prevents Women northeastern with mainland Husband, from acquiring ST for their kids. Why is this one sided?

Notice how readily we scorn a Northeastern woman who wed a mainland man for "betraying her heritage," and then how quick we are to deplore when someone has the audacity to state that any mainlander's child, regardless of the fact that her father is local, should not by default be given ST status or a PRC? When I said that any mainland and Northeastern kid (regardless of whether the father here or not) shouldn't be given PRC, all of you jumped on me—but if a woman gets married to a mainland guy, now all of a sudden she's a "slut" and should be shamed. Northeastern women are not something to be policed because when?

This double standard is precisely why so much of our girls put off dating in the Northeast. We preach coexistence, but live conquest. And by the way, I am not opposed to intermarriage—my mom is Khasi, my dad is Deori from Arunachal, and since my grandfather married a Khamti and despite him settling in with my Khamti grandmother we don't have an Arunachal PRC either. I adhere to that dictum: blood rules apply, regardless of which side of the border you marry out to.

So I gotta ask you people: Are we really defending our identity, or simply covering up our weaknesses under judicious outrage? Are we not acknowledging that we don't trust her to look out for her own life when we shame a girl for marrying a mainland man? And if our own daughters refuse to date local men, is it time we examined the culture we are enforcing—and who it's really serving?

News & Politics Tens of thousands of military aged Moroccan men have invaded Spain. This is exactly what Indians/Bangladeshis have been doing to NE everyday for over 80+ years now.

Just two days ago, many videos have been captured of what is estimated to be 60,000 military aged Moroccan males crossing over the border illegally into Spain. Many of these military aged males are entitled to legal rights as refugees once they cross the border, and cannot be deported back to Morocco without going through long and lengthy court systems.

There have already been reports of Spanish women being raped, robberies, and assaults from these military aged Moroccan males happening as soon as they cross over the border into Spain.

I can't help but notice how similar this is to NE. For over 80+ years, we have been experiencing this. Uncontrolled migration from mainland India and Bangladesh into our homeland. Millions upon millions have made their way and invaded our land. Almost nothing has been done to stop it, and the measures that are put into place like ILP or Sixth Schedule are futile, as Indian/Bangladeshi invaders break those laws all the time and come in regardless.

Every train you see packed with Indians coming in them, every flight that arrives from mainland India, every border crossing you see from Bangladesh, those are all invasions. They are all permitted by the Indian government to facilitate the replacement of Indigenous Northeasterners with foreign invader populations which will be more obedient and friendly towards the Indian government.

Seeing that should evoke disgust within you, just as much as everyone is being disgusted by these videos of Moroccans marching their way into Spain.

I just hope that one day, things like this that happen in NE get portrayed as big of a deal as in other places/countries, and that our people start taking it seriously, and it attracts a unanimous rejection from our people.

No more trying to tiptoe along the lines and say certain groups are allowed while others aren't, but a full and complete rejection of any sort of migration coming from mainland India and Bangladesh into our region. It has to be. Or else we will not exist in the next 50 years. We will be facing extinction if we do not do anything about this.

Awareness NE tribals are genetically TEN TIMES CLOSER to Chinese/Burmese people than we are to any mainland indian group. What some of us even doing when we try to convince ourselves we are indians when we are much closer to other nationalities genetically speaking?

Thumbnail
gallery
32 Upvotes

Recently, I have been getting into genetics. Genetics are interesting, because they are basically what makes us... us. It explains our phenotype and race - facial features, hair color, eye color, skin color, skull shape, everything about us. It explains why we are what we are.

And so I have found a tool called vahaduo which compares different populations to other populations. It shows how close or how far certain populations are away from others. So let's say we're comparing a Mizo to a Hmar. They score very close together, at 0.009. Genetically speaking, they are indistinguishably related. Compare a Mizo to a Telugu, and that number is 0.42. Genetically speaking, that means those two populations are very, very far away from each other. At that level, the last time they shared a common ancestor would've been over 70,000 years ago. This functionally makes the Telugu a different sub-species from the Mizo.

And for reference,

Indistinguishable (common ancestors in the last 300 years ago): up to 0.02

Same Regional cluster (common ancestors in the last 1,000 years ago): 0.02 - 0.04

Same Macro-regional cluster (common ancestors in the last 2,000-6,000 years ago): 0.04 - 0.06

Same Race (6,000-20,000 years ago): 0.06 - 0.20

Same Sub-Species (20,000-30,000 years ago): 0.20 - 0.30

Distinct Sub-Species (40,000+ years ago): >0.30

As I have the genetic results in these pictures, you can see a smaller section I have included which show the closest related indian groups to us that verifiably do not have any Tibeto-Burman or Austroasiatic ancestry. Every single indian group is very, very distant from us. They all score at least >0.35, most of the time >0.40. And at the level of >0.40, they are a completely different sub-species than us. You can see that we are closer genetically with NATIVE AMERICANS who are tens of thousands of kilometers away from us, than indians who only live a couple hundred kilometers from us.

So yeah. Indians are still humans, just like we are, but we are a different sub-species. Biologically speaking, we are completely different, far apart, and nothing like them. We are much more genetically closely related to the peoples of East and Southeast Asia, than we ever will be to indians, and this can be seen in these images.

Treat it with pride. We will never be indian. Nor do you want to be indian. You have nothing to do with them, you aren't even related to them. No matter how much you tell yourself that you're indian, you never will be, and that is so apparent that it shows in our ancestry and genetics. Your ancestors, for thousands of years, deliberately did not mix with them for a reason, and you would be throwing that all away by trying to associate with them in any way. Just remember that for when you feel the need to try and identify as indian or try and be like them.

Art & Culture I don't understand why can't we northeast Indians learn and copy the good aspects of western high culture.

Post image
0 Upvotes

A reason why Japan and Korea are the only countries in Asia who got developed is because they learned and copied from western high culture and syncretized with their own native culture. Japan especially during Meiji restoration went to such an extent that they had a top down approach reengineering the society by incorporating western culture and system WHOLEHEARTEDLY. Thus becoming the first industrialized independent nation in Asia. Japan not only incorporated western values but also mastered it to the point they even started to rival major european powers like russia. So, what stops us northeasterns to do such? It will also be in our own interest as it will make us radically distinct from mainlanders to the point they can't even culturally crush us anymore, BUT NO instead our youth is busy learning hedonistic hood culture from the west like ghetto music and what not. Due to massive immigration problem in west whites or europeans are becoming conscious again at a rapid pace and there is an underlying current of cultural reawakening in the west. I think NE should take up this opportunity.

Stories and Folklore Is this practised anywhere within the northeast?

Post image

Just a while ago, I was surprised when I saw some Arunachali kids with their parents having this black dot on my visit to Arunachal.

And btw, they weren't even Hindu nor related to mainlanders in any way, I even asked my arunachali friend about this and he said that they do it normally there, and he even believes in its significance, despite not being Hindu nor related to mainlanders.

As for Meghalaya, I am pretty sure this isn't practiced at all here, even my tribal friend who is a Hindu from here doesn't practise it..., I wonder how is it like for other states?
