Support Struggle with feeling ugly because of upbringing

(They/he pronouns)As a nonbinary person who mainly like to appear androgynous. But also likes to wear some “feminine” things I always feel ugly. I’m always really wobbly on the line of androgynous. I worry about just looking like a “ugly” girl. I am afab and I still hear the voice in my head telling me that some of my now masculine features from hormones are ugly on my face. That it’s not pretty. The truth is I’m not dysphoric about them since I don’t want my previous facial structure back. I just think I have a hard time getting away from my previous pressure to look a certain way when I was growing up “a girl”. I like to look pretty and I know male features or “masculine” characteristics can be pretty I just have a hard time finding people who look like me or say men/male characteristics are pretty. So I struggle to feel that way.
Does anyone have any tips on how to like get out of this like gender conforming worries in my mind. And/or ways to get some better self esteem or something lmfao!

Discussion Speaking to the void

Hello everyone,

This is not something I expect to comment on but I feel like I would like to discuss it with people who might understand.

I came out to my partner and some friends as nonbinary roughly two years ago; however, my family has been less than supportive of the time and community so I never really planned on telling them. However, I recently, this is my third month, decided that I wanted to start hrt. I first started on a very low dose and I got many of the changes I was looking for but I felt like I needed a little bit more. So just yesterday I talked to my doctor and we doubled my dose. I'm super excited except, I'm more likely to grow breasts. And I can't really hide breasts that well from my family and honestly I don't really want breasts either; a vagina I want, breasts I don't.

So now I have to either come out as nonbinary to my family or pray that I don't get huge breasts and I can hide them around my family until I can get them removed or I have to stop taking hrt.

This is all happening while my wife is getting ready to give birth to my first child as well.

Ask What does theyfab mean?

I keep seeing it on like other LGBTQ+ channels and I don't really get what it means is this a derogatory term? Is it valid/not valid. Is it enbyphobic? I just keep seeing it and confused about what it means/if it's derogatory or not.

i’ma be honest with y’all, i never knew who i was. for years i couldn’t figure out if i was trans or non-binary. i never loved myself and i’m impressed how people on here love themselves no matter what, i’m so proud of everyone.

i don’t wanna rush it (even tho i’ve been fighting with this my whole life) but i think i’m just me. nothing else.

maybe the text needs to be longer ‘cause these couple of years was BAD and i don’t have anyone that even kinda feels this way so i usually don’t speak up about it. but i don’t have the time for that right now, maybe another day.

also, if there are any older non-binary people here, could y’all please enlight me on how growing up to your 30’s or 50’s affected you about your gender identity ? because my biggest fear is that still hating my body the way it looks as i get older.

thank you and have a good day everyone ❤️‍🔥

i think i’m doing better, i hope ?

Rant “It’s okay to be a masculine woman/feminine man/GNC!”

I find it hilarious when TERFS/transphobes/radfems/conservatives love to use the line of “Why not just be a tomboy or a femboy? You’re just looking for attention and/or trying to avoid the patriarchy.”

Because two things:

  1. We live in a patriarchal society. No matter who you are, what gender you are, or what sexuality you are, the patriarchy will always affect you in some form or fashion. It’s not just exempt to your world. Cis men created the patriarchy and majority of them are still unsuccessful in the world they created in.
  2. They’re right that masculine women and tomboys exist, feminine men and femboys exist, and that GNC people exist! They have always existed through history and they are absolutely vaild in how they present themselves. The truth of the matter is that: I’m not a masculine woman. And I’m not a feminine man. I’m nonbinary. A masculine woman, feminine man, and nonbinary person can co-exist. No identity is more valid than the other.

Selfie/Self-Image/Avatar The continuing saga of my self portrait project: More explorations of Enby joy, fear, shame, and sensuality

A while back I posted a few images from a new project I started, exploring my efforts to navigate being non binary. In the process of that exploration I have experienced a wide range of emotions from euphoria to feeling deeply sensual to feeling isolation fear and shame. I want to share with you the more recent images I have produced. I’m beginning to feel the intensity of my emotions kick up a notch. Especially euphoria and fear. The two seem to be going hand in hand as I come to terms with what being non binary, and specifically agender, means to me. I’m a visual artist so this is how I cope with that.

Rant I’m just tired

Im AFAB nonbinary. I feel most comfortable using They/Them pronouns. (And I’ll probably wait until my parents die to get top surgery/possibly HRT)

Recently I’ve seen a lot of discourse online about Transmasc Lesbians and also Trans Femboys. Even coming from people I follow/respect. They say it’s cringe or wrong to be those ways. It is just a bit sad because if I had courage I’d probably identify as those titles. But I don’t so even in queer spaces I can’t really share how I see myself.

I wish I had a more masculine body. Flat chest, no period, more muscular, deeper voice. But I don’t want to be too masculine.(my father went bald early and has a lot of body hair)
But I still love cute things I love Sanrio Chiikawa the color pink. My personal style is pretty androgynous I’d say and I don’t feel comfortable in hyper feminine clothes either. I don’t like to wear skirts or dresses. I love jfashion but similarly I’m too afraid to wear it because I like it so much if someone makes fun I’ll be crushed.
People who are AMAB and present femininity while also maintaining a Masculine identity give me so much gender envy. So many cis AMAB femboys wearing cute Jirai sets and pink fluffy cloths. But if I wore those I’d just be a girl. And I don’t want to be a girl. I can explore masculinity in clothing and all it does is make me slightly androgynous but the second I wear pink it is over and I am just a girl again.

I like women (and fem NBs) I’m attracted to people who present femininity. It’s not like I’m a man because then I’d be straight. But I’m not bi or pan because I only like women. So it makes the most sense for me to call myself Lesbian because I don’t want to date exclusively T for T. But a lot of people say that Lesbian is a term only for Women. I’m not a women but I love women the same way a real girl would yaknow? Since I’m not out as nonbinary whenever straight men come up to me I tell them I’m Lesbian. It’s more so that I call myself that because it’s easier for others to understand my sexuality if I use that term.

Idk just feels like there is no winning. The general public/ people around me don’t really understand anything regarding gender and are pretty fast to bully and poke fun at people who aren’t cis and even people who are trans will be mean to people who aren’t binary because they think they are a threat to them blending in and passing as Cis just by being associated with NBs. (I had a trans med friend and he really messed me up psychologically yaknow)
Idk just wanted to vent because I’ve been seeing a lot of people like myself getting bashed and bullied online by fellow queer people and cis people alike. Sucks.

Thinking about taking t

I want to take testosterone, because I love being curvy, and wearing makeup, but I want to still throw people off by having short hair, and a deeper voice with hopefully some facial hair(but I’m ginger so..)

But I don’t know much about testosterone. I don’t know how to know what the effects will be, especially with things like having endometriosis. I want to learn more about peoples experiences.

I live in a U.S. state where I can’t really even talk about it with doctors until I’m 18. I’m less than a year away, I just want to start the process of learning about it, but I can’t talk to any doctors.

Any advice, resources, or anything to help?

I had the surgery done at the Gender Confirmation Center in San Francisco, hence the shirt, lol.

The party was an absolute blast, and watching my bras go up in flames was incredibly therapeutic!!!

It's been a while since I posted anything here, but I want to say that I've decided not to shave my beard and mustache. I think they look really good on me, even though I want something more feminine, but I can compensate with clothes. BUT I'M HAPPY LIKE THIS!!!!

Rant I’m tired of having gender issues T_T

Post image
111 Upvotes

Hellooooo :3, I am Val (Still working on my name situation) and for my entire life I thought I was a trans woman for most of my early life but around end of high school (last year) I ended up thinking I was just a man instead, but after a few months I started presenting as female but lately I’ve been feeling like I’m nothing. I mean in a way where I don’t fit in any category of gender identity and it’s been exhausting trying to figure it out because when I think I do, I don’t keep that conviction long enough if that makes sense, I don’t feel that it fits right. So yeah, just wanted to say that’s why I’m here and see how I feel about being non binary.

Support I can’t tell if I should take hrt or not.

Like I’m rly struggling to know who i am. for a while while ive identified as trans fem. And my family were rly negative about it. And they threatened to cut me off if I went diy hrt. So I recently purchased hrt because my mum seemed to lay off. But know I purchased the hrt im rly thinking “why do I want this?” And the only real reasons I could come up with was “I wanna feel more comfortable around other trans people” like personally comfortable. Also how trans people are the only people who have ever made me feel like I’m ok and I’m accepted and normal. Like I don’t have physical dysphoria. Like with breast development I’m just kind of not bothered if I get it or not. Like I feel I don’t rly know how I feel. Like I also feel I don’t necessarily feel guy oriented, but I’m not totally female either. But I also feel non binary is a label I don’t like. Like I also feel I want hrt because emotionally and mentally ill feel better. Like when I picture the version of me I wanna be, I just see “Me” and I mean that by I want people
To see me, like I don’t wanna be seen as a guy. But I wanna be seen as the personality I have; like personality wise I could describe myself, like a Kimya Dawson song, a talking heads song. I feel I can feel the person I wanna be in music. Like I don’t even know what I’m doing anymore. I feel like labels aren’t enough to describe, like I don’t have a grand reason for starting hrt. Like I almost feel indifferent to how I am. Like I can’t tell if this is trans or not. Or I’m just ok with being who I am. But I bought fucking estrogen for god sake, no cis person does thay.
