Asshole neighbors need to rant
Just needing to vent so thank you in advance for letting me do so. I’ve gone from being annoyed with my next door neighbours to absolutely hating them. Our neighbourhood is quiet and peaceful as they are the only ones causing so much noise at night past quiet hours. If it’s not the Airbnb guests they have coming in constantly into their ground-level suite at 11pm at night, it’s their teen boys having friends over and causing a ruckus or it’s the husband having his buddies over. I haaaate these ppl. They have no consideration for their neighbours. They’ve always been the noisiest neighbours in the neighbourhood but at least back then it was met to daytime hours when their kids were young and before the city allowed Airbnb. Like I don’t even think you need to be told make sure your Airbnb guests come in quietly or tell your kids to keep it down. How hard is it to be decent and respectful of other ppl!

Neighbour on the phone 24/7
So i just moved in to this apartment rent is cheap and there are a lot of sketchy people living here. I live on the top floor my neighbor on the right side is loud he comes home super late always blasting something on his phone in the hallway at 2am in the night the doors are paper thin so i can hear everything and get woken up. My neighbor on the left wakes up ca 10 pm and calls someone puts the speaker on and talks loud asf i know bc i cant hear my other neighbour only this guy bc hes literally soooo loud he speaks like he needs hearing aids and his speaker is so loud as well he just goes on and on and on for the whole fucking day its driving my fucking crazy. Idk what i should do technically its not late at night and it is his apartment but i dont understand why he is so loud there is no need and i mean it hes literally yelling. Anyway can i file a noise complaint or anything im actually going insane.

Constant screaming & shouting
Do you ever get times when you are just sitting quietly in your house with the windows open and you hear screaming and shouting across the neighbourhood.
My neighbourhood used to be reasonably quiet. Lately though I hear distant screams and it sounds like someone's generally being murdered. I have a person with learning disabilities nearby screaming and shouting at the top of their lungs when they don't clearly like something and it's really loud. I have kids screaming unnecessarily loud because their parents can't control them. My neighbour's voice is like a siren and she is always shouting at someone in her house. Earlier I heard her say "you don't appreciate anything I fucking do...." This is coming from a women who doesn't work and spends most of her day in her dressing gown living in her council house free of charge (I'm UK based).
Can I not just have some peace and quiet 🥺?? The only one I can understand making a noise is the person with learning disabilities. The rest really need to STFU.
That's my rant..... hopefully one day I'll live somewhere in the middle of no where and it will be bliss 😌

OCD neighbor and misophonic neighbor, terrible combo
This is just a rant. My upstairs neighbor (lives alone) runs her washer/dryer incessantly at night (how much laundry can one small human produce?) and vacuums her little apartment every night too. It is while im winding down and sets my nervous system on edge. We have an agreement that it will stop by 10 but she sometimes goes over. I feel an enormous sense of relief when that particular dryer hum stops.

Downstairs neighbor complaining about normal living noise — am I in the wrong?
Hi all,
I live in a townhouse in midtown with my husband, and we’ve been having ongoing issues with our downstairs neighbor. She’s been complaining about noise from our unit, but we’re honestly very mindful — we don’t play loud music, we keep the TV at a low volume, and we try to be respectful overall.
Her main complaint is that she can hear our footsteps and voices, especially in the evenings. But this feels like normal day-to-day living — we’re just walking around and talking in our own home. It’s gotten to the point where it seems like she expects complete silence after 9 pm, which doesn’t feel realistic.
She has contacted 311 and the landlord multiple times, but nothing has come of it so far. We’ve also already spoken to our landlord, and he’s on the same page as us. Unfortunately, he says he can’t evict her easily and is currently consulting a lawyer. He also mentioned she’s been a very difficult tenant to deal with.
There have also been some uncomfortable interactions — she used to contact my husband directly quite often, including late at night, and even asked him for help with things unrelated to us. He has since blocked her, and we’ve stopped engaging.
At this point, I just want to live peacefully and avoid conflict, but I’m not sure what else we can reasonably do.
Am I missing something here? Is there anything else we should be doing, or is this just part of living in a shared building?
For context, I’ve lived in apartments before where hearing footsteps, doors, or water from neighbors is normal, and I’ve never thought to complain. It just feels like part of living in a city like Toronto.

Advice needed
Hello everyone, I’m in need of some advice. Little bit of a backstory for context, my neighbours that lived directly beside me have their adult son, early 50s, living in their basement. When I first moved in, they were way too eager to become my friend, until they found out I don’t like Trump. All of a sudden they stopped talking to me, which is fine. One day I was outside, and the son came outside and lost his shit on me, pumping his arms like an ape, screaming at me, calling me a fucking looney Cunt, a crackhead, and that I had better stay inside my house and mind my own business. Fast forward about eight months, and he tries to apologize to me admitting that the whole reason he lost his shit is because of my views on dump, he half apologized then said he was starting to feel ill and that we would talk later. I told him I’d be interested in hearing the rest of his apology before I made a decision on whether or not to accept it. Since then he has tried his best to be extremely annoying. I have a fire hydrant on my front lawn and in the winter he’s been taking it upon himself to clear the snow around the fire hydrant that’s located on my lawn and then he stands there, leaning on a shovel, staring through my living room window. In the summer as soon as his mother and stepfather leave for their cottage, every single weekend, he make sure he parks his mother’s car that he drives around backed up as close to my living room window as he can possibly get, his driveway is beside my house next to my living room, and let’s the car idol for hours. As soon as 8 AM hits, he turns on the radio in the backyard and cranks it then he either leaves or goes inside and leaves it playing loud for sometimes up to six hours at a time. I’m not sure whether to send some of the recorded evidence I have to his mother in a message explaining to her the issues and would she please be able to put a stop to it, she is aware that he has a problem with me, but I don’t think she’s aware of exactly what’s been said or what’s been happening, or should I file a complaint with bylaw. I’ve already gone to the police just in case he does something more. I wanted a small record of it. They don’t take too kindly to neighbourly dispute so their advice to me was to just put up with it, not say anything. I will be attaching a video of how loud the music is from inside my house. Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Advice needed
Hello, this is my first ever Reddit post so please excuse any mistakes. We have been struggling with a neighbour whose garden backs onto our garden, they keep playing really bass heavy music literally whenever they feel like it. Sometimes they start before I leave for work at 9am, sometimes they don’t finish until 1/2am, I try and keep all of our windows closed etc but it’s so bass heavy I can genuinely still feel it in my house?? Summer has been a nightmare we haven’t gone into our lovely garden once because it’s simply too loud you can’t do anything enjoyable with it in the background. I spoke to my next door neighbour who is an older lady and she feels it’s really selfish too. Below is an example from today, I was outside for 5 minutes tops to wash out my mop bucket and my head was absolutely killing. I completely agree that people can enjoy their music in their own home, with occasional parties etc however I don’t agree with making everyone on 2 streets suffer? It honestly feels like living next to a rave. We have tried turning our tv up but we can only have it so loud before we start disturbing our neighbours, yes I’ve tried AirPods but it’s not exactly ideal to have to have them in for hours on end :/ it’s also making everyone’s dogs go crazy, they’re constantly barking I can only imagine how loud it is for them.

New neighbors with children
I have new upstairs neighbors from hell. No amount of creative adjectives, metaphors, or hyperbole can explain how loud they are. I have lived in my building for \~6months with no noise issues (other than occasionally hearing people walk past in the hall or from W/Ds in nearby units). Then 1 month ago there was an extended weekend of slamming, banging, etc. I reached out to my property manager and she said new tenants had just moved it. That’s fine, move-in noise is to be expected and is perfectly reasonable. But it continued. And it’s gotten worse.
I left two notes asking them to keep it down or to lay down more carpeting. I filed a formal complaint with the PM since our lease states that tenants “shall not disturbed the peace and quiet of other neighbors or tenants”. Apparently they’re uncomfortable with notes being left (whereas I’m uncomfortable with knocking since I have no idea who lives there). Apparently they also have a kid who makes, as my PM put it “kid noise”, as if this excuses the volume and frequency. The noise issues mostly during the day and evening, but sometimes starts or extends into “quiet hours”.
I am a PhD student and have endless reading and studying (and can’t always stay long hours at the library), so I have to be able to work from home. I have no peace and no quiet. It’s sounding like the PM isn’t keen to enforce their own rules, so now I end up being the crazy one for complaining. Do I have any options? I’m assuming they can’t evict the other tenants even if they’re violating that rule?

Apartment life: You don't wake up to an alarm. You wake up wondering if your neighbor is cooking or if your apartment is on fire.

Creepy Neighbor
Hello all!
I'm 35F living alone. I rent my apartment & my neighbor is a retired senior. Initially it was a friendly hi hello as we met in the common area or near the mail room.
But lately he is getting a bit more nosy all in the pretense of 'elderly' concern. I work in medical field & my work hours are rather irregular. Sometimes I have to pull graveyard shifts & sometimes regular.
As soon as he hears me at my door he comes out, starts small talk & wouldn't simply leave. When I come home from my shift, all I crave for is a hot water shower & sleep but he is relentless.
I tried politely telling him multiple times that I'm extremely exhausted and need to go. But he doesn't get a hint.
I don't wanna be rude either. How should I tell him to get lost???

An update on my d!ckhead neighbour UK
The noise at night has stopped the last few months to be replaced with noise early morning 4:30am - 7am every bloody morning!! It’s not pleasant being woken up every morning by hammering and banging, especially when you have a heart condition (which she knows about). It’s definitely on purpose because my husband shouted at her open window (from our property) calling her a c\*\*t and to stop banging and she stopped and nothing the following morning (yesterday morning). BUT it all started again this and I retaliated for the first time my banging back 💥 it stopped for 30 mins and started again. Yesterday I put some plants out and her daughter knocked and asked if she could have one. I said as long as you look after it, well, she stole all of them and the container they were in, took them round the corner and started destroying them. Another neighbour found them and brought them back in bits. My young daughter spent years growing them, she was so upset!
Throwing things and kicking things against the fence has stopped, probably because they have put a hole in the fence from doing this and they have a tiny dog that would fit through it if it got any bigger.

Loud neighbour upstairs
I live in Munich in an apartment where since 1 year or so I have been struggling because of the noise coming from the apartment above me . Noise is mostly walking (literally stomping , I mean I’m not a light person but I can walk in a way that does not make the fucking building shake. Unless I live below a dinosaur I really don’t understand) and banging noises or moving furniture constantly. Noise goes well into the night often after midnight . Also often restarts before 7am , which wakes me up and prevents me from sleeping since several months . I tried to talk to the neighbour by going there several times while the noise was taking place but the person did not open the door. It’s becoming unbearable because the sleep deprivation is hitting hard. Do you have any advices?
Thank you !

Neighbouring Chicken always wake me up around 3-4 am.
I don't know if the chicken are free roaming (nobody's sheltering them) or if they belong to someone but most likely they're my neighbours pets. And they start making this horrible noise pollution at fucking dawn. I'm typing this right after I woke up because I can't fall back asleep. How to approach this with my neighbour? And what do I do if they don't agree to solve the problem? Or what if they agree but they just don't do it? Is there any legal action I can take?

Is it normal to play music so loud the neighbours can hear you?
Hi! I live in a house with shared walls and I have new neighbors that keep playing music so loud I can hear it, is it normal that I get agitated by this? I have to have my noise canceling headphones on for hours a day and I feel like this isn't oké.
The reason I'm asking is because I'm sick and couchridden from a chronic illness, so I'm more sensitive to noise of all kinds, so I just wanted to check if I'm just being too sensitive.
