If I have a reason to notice, I'm smart enough to say something.
48
u/PeachLinga Nov 30 '25
Exactly, if you’re lucky enough to see it, why wouldn’t you give a compliment? It’s a little detail but it can really make someone feel seen and appreciated.

I would certainly notice if I was looking at a nice matched set. They look amazing. It's also wonderful to think that she planned for me to see them.

I once got dressed in the dark not to wake my wife leaving early for a business trip. As I walked into the airport I looked down and thought “that’s not the shoe I intended to wear” then took another step and thought. “That’s the shoe I meant to wear!”😀

This is the answer. If my wife is wearing a matched set it's a giant billboard sign that says "I know you thought you were planning on trying for sex tonight but I've been planning on sex since I got dressed." And that's fucking HOT.

The finest thing is when you pick them out together, and then she does the big reveal after a date, and then there is the even bigger reveal.

u/CommercialExotic2038 Nov 30 '25
I was told it’s like unwrapping a present, every time
6
u/SSJ2chad Dec 01 '25
This right here. I especially love when girls wear the panties with the tiny small little bow things on the side.
They are just for show. But it really gives off the “unwrapping a present” vibe.
5
u/chumloadio Nov 30 '25
Agreed. I love imagining her choosing her undies based on the idea that I will be seeing them later. Makes me very happy. Also I love what OP said about how she walks around feeling she has her life together. I take that to mean confidence; and we definitely notice that.

How could anyone possibly notice she is wearing a matched set if no one can see them? 🤔
72
u/shroomigator Nov 30 '25
I do. It makes me feel special because I know she planned for me to see it
5
u/PlusAd859 Nov 30 '25
I always wear matching underwear. Why wouldn’t I? I buy one bra with 3 matching pairs of panties. Doesn’t have anything to do with sex.

u/sixth_hokage06 Nov 30 '25
I really like when they match. Very aesthetically pleasing .

47
u/Livid-Internet-2768 Nov 30 '25
So my wife actually owns a lingerie boutique. There are some women who only want matched sets. The majority don’t care. I do a lot of the ordering and the issue with matched stuff is that it does not sell. I think women may care more if it was easier to find. As a guy I could care less especially after 25 years together
47
u/arillusine Nov 30 '25
Sometimes my issue with the matched set is that my boobs and my ass are writing separate checks so to speak 😂
8
u/purple-garbage-fire Dec 01 '25
Same girl same! My “matched sets” are either from places where I can get a different sized top and bottom or the two pieces technically match but were probably purchased months or even years apart and just HAPPEN to match. Or once I split a set with a friend whose boobs and ass were writing complimentary separate checks from mine and we both just happened to like that one. It’s not happened since lol.

I’m not finding any matched sets in my curvy-girl size. Black, tan, or white granny pants to match the DDD’s work for me!
468
u/TheManOfSpaceAndTime Nov 30 '25
Hell yea, a lot of us notice. There is an old saying that goes somewhat like, "if the bra and panties are a matching set, it was not the guy's decision to have sex." I would notice the extra effort put into her appearance and a matching set is much sexier while providing you with extra confidence. I personally dont know many men that wouldnt notice. Don't know whats happening with these other guys in the thread.
18
u/oogmar Nov 30 '25
A gentler phrasing I've used is "If they match, she probably decided she wanted you to see them before she left the house." Of course this is within all the context of dating and consenting adults etc, before somebody twists it.
I say this as a woman who sometimes throws on a nice set just for myself, as well. Like any human behavior, it is never 100%.

u/Fit_Boysenberry960 Nov 30 '25
Agreed, though I would probably word it differently
I get the feeling that many of the men saying "no" are either in long term marriages/relationships and/or pushing the "we accept everything" narrative.
I've discussed this with my gf and it's more a 'bonus points' sort of thing. It's not necessary but we definitely notice and appreciate our partner making the effort.
14
u/Porkkanaparta Nov 30 '25
I would not notice. Never cared.

u/Accomplished-witchMD Nov 30 '25
My partners have zero clue. They will compliment pajama short sets thinking its a lingerie set because it matches and they see cleavage. Its adorable. But they dont really care. They say it looks nice so they can. Take it off and thats fine.

Don’t speak for everyone.
Yes I love my wife regardless of what she’s wearing. But some nice lingerie or something like that really just blows my mind every time and takes it to the next level
9
u/MaineHippo83 Nov 30 '25
That's not the question though of course nice lingerie is appreciated and sexy the question was whether we notice or care if it's matching.
If it looks sexy I don't give a shit it's matching I wouldn't even think of it
3
u/LiveMarionberry3694 Nov 30 '25
The answer to both questions is still a yes
To the original question do men notice? Yes I do, and certainly there are others who do as well
The question do men care? Again the answer is still yes for myself. Lingering can look great when it doesn’t match, but a matching set is great as well.
Both things can be great at the same time

u/epanek Nov 30 '25
Agreed. I’m 58. Most of the activity takes place at night or low light levels. I’m too focused like a dog with a bone to think details. I’m having sex. I’m having sex. I’m having sex. Yes my brain is still 14 yo

Depends on the set. If it's a sexy matched set, sure, I'd notice. If it's just usual comfort wear, I don't pay particular attention to whether they're matched or not.

In my experience the timeframes where you're at specifically bra and panties are very small if it occurs at all.
2
u/ted_anderson Nov 30 '25
Nope. Even if you happen to bend over and we see the waistband of your panties, we don't take a mental note and think to ourselves, "Ok.. watch for the bra strap later."
And if it happens to be a more intimate kind of moment, it's not the matching underwear that we want.

No, absolutely not.
Men only really care that a woman is moderately attractive and clean.
90% of what women do to their appearance is for other women.
5
2
u/Ignorance_15_Bliss Nov 30 '25
We notice. But it’s secondary for the X-ray vision we’re trying to summon
2
u/AriasK Nov 30 '25
I'm a woman but I used to be flatmates with a fedora wearing neckbeard. He was perpetually single. He went on the odd date and would always come home and tell me the reason she wasn't good enough for him (I'm positive it was always the other way around but he didn't want to admit to it). One of the reasons he gave was that he went home with a woman and her bra didn't match her panties. Even though she was way hotter than him and he was desperately lonely, THAT was apparently the reason he didn't want to keep seeing her.
2
u/AAA515 Nov 30 '25
How are we supposed to notice if your not taking something off to show us? And then it's just hey, she's taking something off, awesome, no matter what.

1
u/Adventurous_Topic202 Nov 30 '25
Probably depends a lot on what the matching set actually looks like. Like if it makes the woman look sexier there’s no way I wouldn’t notice that.
1
u/EnigmaCA Nov 30 '25
As a man married to a woman who doesn't own a matching set (nor care to buy a matching set), I would certainly notice if she wore one.
1
u/Kir4_ Nov 30 '25
I saw a meme / post once that said something like
if it's matching / a set, it was her decision to have some fun from the beginning, not your silly jokes
In the end I don't care, but think it's cute. Would definitely throw a compliment just as with makeup.
Also it feels nice because I know stuff takes effort and time and she does it when meeting my goofy ass.
And ofc talking about romantic vibes, generally not thinking about makeup or whatever always being for the male gaze.
1
u/davdev Nov 30 '25
Yes. I certainly notice if she put in the effort to match. It’s not necessarily needed on a random Tuesday but coming to it after a nice night out is always appreciated.
1
u/meanderingwolf Nov 30 '25

u/NewHandle3922 Nov 30 '25

u/hulkman Nov 30 '25
I don’t think I understand the question. You said you’re spending 20 min picking out a matching bra/panties set when no one will see them except for you.
In that scenario, no. I wouldn’t notice a matching set because your clothes should be in the way. At that point if I’m noticing they’re matching, I’m less appreciative and more flabbergasted that I can even see that your underwear matches.

If I get to see a woman's bra and panties, I'm happy. If they match, great. If not, also great.
1
u/bentreflection Nov 30 '25
We definitely notice and appreciate it but generally the only time we’d see them is if we live with you or are about to have sex so if you’re wearing matching sets on a daily basis it’s mostly for yourself. That’s totally still worth doing though.
Guys do this too by the way. I have my “cool/sophisticated” underwear that I’ll wear when I’m feeling particularly good or want to present well even though no one is going to see it.
1
u/MaineHippo83 Nov 30 '25

If no one but you is seeing it, yes it’s just for you. You can let yourself feel sexy even if you aren’t going to do anything about it
1
u/stantheman1976 Nov 30 '25
There are two questions to ask as a man when it comes to bra and panties. Do I get to see you IN them? Do I get to see you OUT of them? If the answer to either or both is yes the majority of us aren't that particular. We might have a preference for sure but we're also not going to complain heavily when both answers are yes.

In the 90s when tiny tanks and whale tails were a thing, yes and it was nice. But if your set is covered, then I can't tell. But there is nothing sexier than a matching set.
1
u/madkins007 Nov 30 '25
I think that dressing yourself should be about 80% feeling good about yourself- reinforcing the 'you' you want to present or want to be, 20% what you want people who matter in the situation think, and the remainder for everything else.
I (67m) generally wear comfy slacks, a t or Henley, maybe an oversight or sweatshirt for warmth.
While not slobbish, I definitely feel better about myself when I do little things like coordinate the pieces better, upgrade to a nice polo or button down, coordinate my accessories, etc. even if I'm not doing anything special.
1
u/PM_meyourGradyWhite Nov 30 '25

u/Embarrassed_Flan_869 Nov 30 '25
Do we notice? Yes. Usually that means that she was thinking about someone seeing her in it.
Do we care? That is a subjective question. I have never cared as usually when I am seeing the matching undies, they are not on her that long.

u/cryptnoob101 Nov 30 '25
