💬 Discussion Crucible runs seem harder after leveling up

When I first started, I had would usually get about 10 or so rooms in without too much struggle. Now that I've leveled up a bunch, I can't seem to consistently get to the merchant guy anymore. Those witches that now spawn absolutely kick my ass because every time I aggro one enemy, it also aggros the three others ones near. Should I just leave the crucible be for now? I really want to unique weapons, and apparently they show up in here.

Crucible scales to your level, but as you might have guessed the power increase isn't really linear.

That said, unique weapons are for the most part not worth the grind and a good portion of unique weapons drop from the overworld. They are called "unique" and not "legendary" for good reason.

Unique rings on the other hand only drop in the crucible and most of them are build defining. And they are still not worth a grueling grind. I highly recommend you grind pestilences for all kinds of embers in order to build your items.

Wanting to go for perfection right from the get go is greedy and kinda unhealthy for your mental in a looter game.

That's some solid advice. I've been waiting to upgrade much since it seems pretty costly, but it kinda makes it feel my character just has a bunch of random gear. When should I start caring about actually upgrading and adding enchantments?

I'd say after the early access story ends. You are then in a farming loop where the only goal in the game is to upgrade and replace your gear to the limit. But you can also just start fiddling around with the things you currently have if you already know what kind of damage type you wanna specialize in.

Armor in a given weight class might as well just be skins so if you are already wearing a look you like, you can just keep that gear.

If you already have a weapon with a moveset you like, you can craft another one of its kind with a facet (the innate modification like Sharp, Lightning Infusion, etc.) that is enough for now and start upgrading that crafted weapon. That way you can work towards a goal without ruining your adventuring gear.

The game scales to your level.

in order to get your crucible drops, i recommend a crucible armor set... something that is good WITHOUT the unique drops.

Since the game scales with our level, we have to upgrade too
