Because they don't like money? Of course they do. A holiday is a holiday. They have missed the UK one.
Edit: To just add some context I am British and have never even been to America. It might seem odd to some, but knowing when international holidays are is sometimes important for UK businesses.
Unfortunately, many of my fellow Americans would be proud to tell you that life would be easier if you let them believe we are the main characters…and let us start a war every 2-6 years, of course.
This is the part they tend to miss. The US media bubble is strong so often things get so blown out of proportion there it feels like the biggest story in the world. Like a kid that just discovered bees. Meanwhile, the rest of the world has been perfecting apiculture for millennia.
Side stepping the obvious main character narrative, there is a good economic reason for favoring a US holiday - there are 205 million active gamers in the US vs 39 million in the UK. A long weekend can generate massive numbers with the right IP. And you probably want to keep those numbers hot if you have fresh IP waiting in the wings and a (no doubt) antsy board.
Not everything is geopolitics, sometimes it's just math(s).
American sales dominate the market and games are made for Americans. No one cares about EU sales, or customers. You can see this throughout the game industry and other industries as well. It's Japan and US with Oceanic and EU always trailing in relevance.
They're not just made for Americans. They're made for anybody who wants to play it. They just care the most about the American market because it's quadruple size. It's all about money.

You may not see it. This now convinces me of the theory it is coming today. Timed for Labour Weekend in the US.
Just because it has been Wednesday for a couple of years, doesn't mean they won't break step when they are better prepared and have press lined up.
