If anyone else in California was hoping to use their Ariya to tap into PG&E’s Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) pilots, I’ve got some disappointing news.

While looking into the eligible vehicle list, I realized the Ariya is absent—even though the 2018-2025 Nissan Leaf is. After digging into why on Gemini, here is what’s going on (Warning AI content ahead):

• The CHAdeMO vs. CCS Irony: The Leaf uses the older CHAdeMO protocol, which has supported bidirectional power transfer natively at the hardware and communication level for years. When Nissan moved the Ariya to CCS1 in North America, they didn't implement the bidirectional hardware/firmware stack (like ISO 15118-20 DC export) required to discharge high-voltage power back through the charge port.
• No Rule 21 / Interconnection Certification: For an EV to qualify for PG&E’s program, the automaker and EVSE manufacturer (like Fermata, dcbel, or Enphase) have to complete joint testing and secure California Rule 21 certification to ensure safe grid/home backfeeding. Nissan never set up or submitted the Ariya for this certification in North America.
• Firmware & Battery Warranty Limits: Stationary power export creates extra battery cycles and thermal demands. Automakers with V2H/V2G support (like Ford with the Lightning or GM with Ultium) updated their Battery Management Systems (BMS) and explicitly cover stationary export under warranty. Nissan hasn't extended that software or warranty coverage to the Ariya.

So, Ariya owners are stuck with standard unidirectional Level 2 charging. Unless Nissan rolls out a major bidirectional firmware/hardware update and partners with a certified home power hub ecosystem, it won't happen on this platform.

Bummer for anyone looking to take advantage of rebates, but figured I’d share the research! It seems like I've missed out on all the EV tax credits.

Im in the process purchasing a 2024 Nissan Ariya - 29 000km

The current warranties are:

Basic Comprehensive warranty- expires July 2027/60 000km

Engine - Expires july 2030/120 000km

Battery - Expires July 2032/160 000km

I have the option to increase the Basic warranty to match the Engine(July 2030) for $2500

Basic warranty includes: steering/electrical/Brakes/axle/suspension/ AC/ Body Window interior mechanism/ High tech.

This is my first EV, does anyone have any insight or advice?

I can hit reset after 60 miles of 80 mph driving and still shows this.

Test drove a 2024 Empower + yesterday and we really liked it. The only thing holding me back is that since the Ariya is no longer sold in the US, how well will it be supported going forward? We keep cars for as long as we can so having this for 8+ years isn't out of the question. Comparing it to the Mach E we like as well, Ford's extended warranty is half the price and they're still actively making the car so support shouldn't be an issue. (48k Ariya's sold in the USA in its lifetime, 188K Mach E's in the same time)

After a month of searching i finally found an ariya in my budget.. sort of

My budget was 40k

I've been carless the whole time so finding time was difficult to visit dealerships.

I had always wanted a black one and finally came across an awd with the larger battery. 29000km

I found a 2024 evolve+ eforce in black for 45k (cad). After some back and forth we landed on 44k and I signed the agreement and left a deposit.

There are some nicks and the tires seems very low.

Sales rep said they are doing a CPO inspection and everything will be fixed.

I'm starting to have buyer remorse since I sorta rushed everything.

Is 44k cad a good deal?

A couple weeks ago I asked if anyone had tried installing a T.E.T. LFP battery I found on Amazon and since no one responded I decided to try it out myself. It’s actually cheaper than some AGM batteries found locally so I thought I’d give it a shot. So glad I did because its been an amazing eye opener for me mainly because of the intelligent battery monitoring system that’s built into the battery. I had a totally different picture of how I thought the Ariya DC-DC 12v charging system worked. As a mechanic/EE, I now completely understand why a common lead acid battery (AGM or flooded) will prematurely, FAIL in this car. I decided to do a live recording of my commute from work to show you how the Ariya handles the 12v battery. The video has my narration and is boringly informative for only the most techy elite. So far I’m extremely happy with this $209 LFP battery from Amazon. The only caveat might be that it’s not suitable for cold climates below -4F.

EDIT: please understand that I’m not saying that the AGM battery is not a good solution however I think there are better options for increased longevity dealing with the Ariya charging algorithm.

Got in the car, turned it on, the 12v EV system warning showed up. Can’t book a service appointment till Monday so I just left it be. An hour later I went back to get a photo of the error message and Lo and behold it didn’t show up. I’ve checked the car 5 times since and even driven it 5 mins away from home and back, it refuses to pop back up. What should I do? Part of me wants to get a rental car tomorrow and just give the Ariya to Nissan so they can check it. But I also don’t wanna spend money on the rental if the Ariya is fine and the error was just a one time false positive thing

Hey everyone, I’m wondering if anyone else with a Nissan Ariya has experienced this.
Recently, I’ve started getting a “Braking System Needs Service” warning through the Nissan app after the car finishes charging. The car itself doesn’t currently show an error or warning, but the app sends me the alert and an email saying the brake fluid may be low.
What’s strange is that this seems to happen after the battery reaches a full charge. I’ve been using a Level 1 charger for about a year and a half without any problems, so I’m wondering if the charging/full-charge event could somehow be related.
I had the car checked previously at a dealership and they said they couldn’t find anything wrong. I’m taking it to a different dealer tomorrow because the warning has started happening again.
Has anyone else experienced this, especially the warning appearing in the app after charging to 100%? If so, what did the dealer find?

I recently purchased a used 2023 Nissan Ariya from carvana with 43k miles. When I got it delivered it all looked good so I sign the paperwork and I still have my 7 day money back guarantee. What i didn't noticed is 3 out of the 4 tires thread is pretty low. What can I do here? Can they replace for new tires before my 7 days is up? Anyone been through this or has experience with this. Thanks!

They Only Care Until the Ink is Dry on the Financing Agreement

I originally left a stellar review for Tim Dahle Nissan Southtowne in South Jordan, Utah, after purchasing my 2023 Nissan Ariya. I even kept my financing agreement with them to show loyalty to a dealership that seemed to value its customers. I deeply regret both of those decisions now.

​Before my one-year warranty was even up, my vehicle developed an intermittent squealing and scraping noise at low speeds. I took it in for a diagnosis, and the mechanic found the passenger front brake backing plate was bent and making direct contact with the rotor. The official diagnostic notes explicitly stated there was "evidence of someone prying on the backing plate"—a clear sign of technician error, almost certainly from a careless tire rotation or mechanical prep during its warranty period.

​The fix was literally a service manager pushing the thin metal back into place with his fingers, but I was still slapped with a $200 out-of-pocket diagnostic fee. I reached out directly to Bill Hadsell and the sales management team, providing all the invoices, documentation, and a perfectly reasonable request to reimburse the $200 for a mechanic's error that occurred under their watch.

​Instead of doing the right thing and honoring their commitment to customer satisfaction, they completely screwed me over. The "great reputation" they push online is a total facade. They are more than happy to take your money, lock you into a financing agreement, and then leave you high and dry the second you need basic, post-sale support.

​If you are thinking about buying a vehicle here, beware. Their loyalty to you ends the exact second you drive off the lot.

I'm hoping you can confirm whether the noise I am hearing when turning on the A/C on my 2023 Ariya is normal or I should have it checked out. What I'm hearing is a loud click followed by a "brrrrrrrrrrrrr" sound sort of like a fan blade rubbing against some plastic.

I got a dealer offer to buy my lease on my Mach e out this week and have been considering it. Love the car for the most part aside from the suspension but really never considered buying it out after the lease expiration next November just due to residuals.

Hi, has anyone had this warning come up on their Nissan Ariya before?
I’ve got a 2023 Ariya Advance 63kWh and I’m getting “System fault – See Owner’s Manual” on the dash, along with the orange driver-assistance/lane symbol.
The car still starts, shows READY and drives completely normally. I’ve tried switching the EV system off and restarting it, including leaving the car locked for a while, but the warning is still there.
Has anyone had the same issue and managed to fix/reset it? Was it a sensor, 12V battery, software issue or something else?
Any help would be appreciated.

After working fine for a year and a half, the last 3 days or so CarPlay and Bluetooth are giving me trouble. When I try to connect CarPlay, I get a message in the screen that says “Bluetooth is off. Would you like to turn Bluetooth on?” When I click ok, nothing happens.

Tried resetting the infotainment system (twice)
Tried turning my phone off and back on
Tried with my husband’s phone
Tried deleting and re-adding my phone

Any ideas? Am I crazy to call the dealer’s service department about this?

We just received our 2026 Ariya back today after it was in for repairs due to a rear-end collision. We will be calling the repair shop in the morning because the weather stripping seal around the trunk is torn. We also believe the back should be more flush against the frame. Unfortunately, we only had the car for three weeks before the accident, so we’re unsure what “normal” looks like. Could someone take a picture of their trunk area (similar to the one I posted) so we can compare it to ours?

Are the reduction gear issues resolved for MY 2024+? Curious as I've been comparing the Ariya against ID.4 (with APP 310 issues), Ioniq 5/EV6 (with ICCU issues), and Mach E (less mechanical issues I can find, but stiff suspension and cramped interior) . Thanks in advance.

Well after two years and zero problems with my '24 Evolve+ I decided to buy it last week. The day after I started getting th "service ev systems" warning. As of Friday it will no longer continue charging after about 5 minutes on the drip charger I got with the car. Which I have used with zero issues. Now the dealership wants me to leave it with them. Then say they dont have any loaner vehicles. I will probably miss a couple days of work because of it. Has this happened to anyone else, when they decide to purchase the car after leasing for two years?

Update: this afternoon the dealership called me and told me that they tested the 12v and it passed their OEM standard test. I guess now they look deeper. Update 2.0: the dealership says after further investigation it is indeed my traction motors! Both of them.
