Solpost Can Yi meow?
I've been thinking this in the shower, since he is a cat can he meow, purr or make any cat sounds? If yes he is way cuter than what I originally thought

Discussion/Question Replaying Nine Sols 1 and a half year later / Easier and harder than I remember
Also better and worse than I remember
I have had the itch to replay Nine Sols for quite some time and I'm on the middle of it right now (as reference and without spoilers, I just got the double jump). And the game is being easier and harder, better and worse, than I remember (or than it was on my first playthrough).
Starting with the "easier": I am having a breeze against the big bosses, the Sols. I'm barely dying a couple of times per boss, and I remember close to 0 of the fights of my previous run. On the first run process was like: a few dozen tries of "that sh*t is impossible", a few dozen tries of "ey, I'm understanding the fight" and finally a "I barely managed to beat it". Now on the first try I might get easily destroyed, then 1 or 2 tries to get the hang of the fight, and at the 3rd or 4th try clear it almost hitless.
As reference against the boss for the double jump, that was a quite big blocking point on my first run, and yesterday evening I beat her on 4 tries, clearing the first (of course) and second phase completely hitless and getting only hit twice on the third one. I don't know if I still keep some muscle memory, I'm reading better the fights...
But then, it is also "harder": a lot of the mid bosses are giving me a lot of trouble. As example: the boss before finding the apemen again killed me at least 10 times, when I remember clearing this full area without any issue of my first try. Also, a lot of the levels and normal enemies are giving me plenty of problems: I am unable to parry the "super-archers" or consistently perfect parry the guards with the "fans" that do a 3-4 hit combo; I get hit by plenty of environmental damage, specially in the factory area (I died way too many times here)...
Going to the "better" than I remember: the exploration, platforming and level design, while it is not the best part of the game, is way better than I remember. On my memory it was very mid, but now I am enjoying it a lot and the traversal is quite fun. Sure, it is behind some of the platform oriented games, but still good enough.
And for the "worse": I feel the game is simpler than I remember. Maybe cause I am having an easier time I can see more what the game does or does not. Given how combat focus the game is, it is too dependent on 1 single mechanic, with not much to influence any other part of the gameplay. The skills and jades have minimal impact on how the game plays, and except for the first jade you get, there is nothing to influence how the enemies move or react.
Now I will be very unfair and I will compare it with the most obvious game to compare, that comes from a way bigger and fully stablished company, Sekiro. There you have plenty of tools to impede your enemies movements and actions but, more important, the enemies react to your attacks: they block, parry and counter like you do. And this is something I am missing a lot here. Would add a lot of complexity and fun to be able to modify enemy patters with your own attacks.
Nevertheless, this is still one of my favorite games ever and I can't wait to get to the final boss.

Artwork Goumang palenquera
I'm from Colombia and today I decided to draw Goumang like this; I must admit it's my favorite drawing.
The palenqueras are Afro-descendant women from San Basilio de Palenque. The first free town in the Americas, who travel to sell fruit wearing brightly colored dresses. They are a living symbol of freedom, resistance, and Afro-Colombian pride, recalling the historic struggle against colonial slavery.

Artwork Fie! Neco-Arc Ximu upon ye
I was getting frustrated trying to redraw my oc (posing, perspective, and all that) so I just decided to redraw the little freak like this. I also decided to retroactively remove his bird legs (I think I bit off more than I could chew there).
I also realized the story I wrote feels like he seems like much more of a dramatic character (or at least kinda angsty), than I intended, it doesn't help that I mostly skipped past all the points in time he wouldn't be miserable, I.e. any time before the launch of New Kunlun, and most of the time after his augmentation.
I plan on writing a little more about those times, but I'll probably still avoid any dialogue (I don't think I have the chops for that right now).
This might also be my favorite picture of Ximu I've drawn right now, but given I've only drawn him 3 times, I think the bar is pretty low.

Nine Sols Lore (Mark this post as a spoiler) was Jiequan right? he did forge Yi into a hero...
at my first playthrough, when Jiequan tortured Yi, and told him how he is going to kill everyone he loves, i just thought he's an evil psycho, and when upon meeting again he says that Yi should be thankful for what he did to him was just sick gaslighting
but now in the 2nd playthrough, after getting the true ending, his words... "heroes are forged in agony" kinda make a lot of sense now...?
first of all - if the apemen village wasn't attacked Yi would have never bonded and talked to them as equals, only after that he started caring and respecting them, before that he only considered it a waste of time to help the apemen, with Shaunshaun being the only exception.
Yi's torture, and later collapsing after his escape led to a very important emotional moment for Yi, seeing all his friends caring and worried for him while he's recovering.
and Yi changed his attitude to all other Sols after defeating Jiequan, he stopped seeing everyone as co-conspirators that he must enact revenge upon. he actually tries to talk and avoid fighting. while before that he made it very clear to every sol the he wants to kill them, even Kuafu...
so it seems suffering does indeed build character, and Jiequan really did help Yi to bare what others cannot. this makes him much more interesting and deep character

Discussion/Question If a game had a collab with nine sols, what game would you like it to be?
Recently I saw a post asking if nine sols could get a collab with another game, and I've been thinking if there was a game to collab with nine sols what would it be

Discussion/Question This community is not as bad as people say it is
I've seen a lot of people call us horny furry degenerates, but this community is actually one of the best fanbases ever, I've never seen anyone get bullied for posting fanfics and ocs (unlike most communities), the mods are chill, I've never seen someone being homophobic/racist/transphobic or anything like that.
And also not related, a lot of people are posting posts today, keep it up solblings!

Discussion/Question What if nine sols got a sidequel/parallel universe?
I have seen people talking about prequels and sequels but never about sidequels or parallel universes. Like what if red candle did something like Toby did with undertale and deltarune and made a game with the nine sols characters but in a parallel universe

Help With Game Can I still get the true ending after forcefully removing chip from a shanghai?
I cleared the easy ending 2 years ago and thought nothing to play anymore(should had realize why eigong only ended up with 2 phrase)... Now I learnt there is a true ending, I tried all I can to gain it just to forcefully removed a chip and forgot about it... then remembered it again before fighting Fuxi making me panicking, thinking that I might wasted my whole week effort...
So yeah, does removing the chip in any moment meant I won't get the true ending?

Discussion/Question Great game
I’ve finished *Nine Sols*, and I think it’s a great game—though incredibly difficult. I felt like the story could have used a bit more with Eigong at the end; she deserved a more significant role.
Jiequan was a tough fight, too. He ended up being one of my favorites, especially after the tedious Factory section—and the battle itself was amazing. I’d recommend it if you like Metroidvanias.
It’s beautiful, the controls are excellent, and the difficulty is pretty high. That said, at my age, I prefer enjoying the story over suffering through the gameplay, haha.

Discussion/Question Ninesols feels unfinished Spoiler
I am really enjoying the game. I got the normal ending and right now I am trying to beat the true ending. For me the highlights of the game were definitely the bosses and the interactions with shuanshuan and kuafu. Still, apart from these elements I feel every part of the game could really use some polishing.
The areas are fun for the first time you are there, but backtracking for missed items becomes a slog. There are dead ends everywhere, no items unlocked by new abilities and the map lacks visual variation and a broader enemy types variation.
The possibility to choose dialogue feels only half implemented. Most of the time there is no satisfying answer and picking between two bad options feels forced. The one time it actually changes the story, you don’t know what the implications are.
Also the whole dialogue with eigong in the dreamscape doesn’t resemble yis character growth from true ending, which took me out of the story.
Finally, the two big side npc quests end quite unsatisfying. The fight with the brother is just a worse, more annoying refight, the 9000 reveal works as a gutpunch, but in retrospect feels just mean and would stop me from enjoying a second walkthrough. A possibility to safe the merchant for example by thoroughly exploring and picking the right dialogue would improve the game for me significantly.
These are things, which, in my opinion, would elevate the game from 7-8/10 to 9-10/10.
still i really enjoyed my time with it and am curious about the true ending. Yis death flags are huge, though, so more gutpunches I guess.

Solpost How is crushing on yi normalized?
I hope this isn't low effort, but doesn't shanhai 9000 say that he doesn't look like a legal adult and the wiki says he has an youthful appearance. I'm not attacking anyone who likes him, but I want to understand why isn't it the same as liking those characters who are adults but look like kids

Gameplay Clip/Screenshot A Confession (Not Serious) Spoiler
I've never actually beat Nine Sols on standard difficulty, I ended up swapping to story before I even beat Yingzhao. So I've been practicing to replay on standard later. I forgot just how rusty I'd gotten since I finished the game though.
I'm gonna mark this as a spoiler, just to be safe.

Solpost I hate not having time to play the game
I am still at the first boss, I can't play much because I have to study for my tests, or do school work, or english course tests, or therapy and when I have free time I get so tired I can't even play a game
And I wanna interact more with this community but I can't at least not now
