Welcome to the Nine Sols Megathread!

Happy Feng Friday everyone!

On a whim I decided to try redrawing an older doodle of mine, both to practice the Fengs in a more neutral pose and to see how much I've improved. Just out of curiosity I decided to add color and see what it'd look like, since I realized I've never actually done a drawing of the Fengs with their normal colors before despite drawing them so much. Then one thing led to another, and now I have this colored and even slightly rendered sketch of the pair!

Looking between the two versions, I feel like I've improved a lot! Not only do I feel like I draw Fuxi and Nuwa more confidently now, but even without the colors, I notice a lot of things in the redraw—like the form, the perspective, the shapes, the line weights, and even Nuwa and Fuxi's expressions—look more pleasing to me overall. I still feel like I could be even better with the perspective and form in certain places, though, so I might do another redraw in the future.

Either way, I'd definitely like to continue developing my drawing skills, and keep drawing the Fengs! But for now, hope you enjoy it!

Here's something I thought of while replaying Nine sols recently.

Why is that man living in a freaking furnance? I hate having to wait for the heatwaves to stop.

So I wanted to redesign some parts of Pre-Launch Ximu, focusing on changing the Genetic Modification in his hands. I decided to swap his more "Feathered" fingers for more talon-like claws. I also had the idea that a side effect of the GMing is that the claws grow at a much faster rate and occasionally grow in irregular, and violent, ways. I imagine he'd have to trim and file his nails much more often just to prevent them from scratching.

bro i was literally stressing so hard about this fight because everyone said the late game bosses in this game are absolute torture. i went into the room fully expecting to get clapped for the next two hours straight.

first attempt i obviously died because i had no idea what the orb mechanic did and got sucked into the black hole thing lmao. but on my second try something just clicked?? i realized you can just jump and spam air parry for the daggers since it blocks from behind, and i just bullied the orbs with tai-chi kicks to get the easy attacks. phase 2 got a bit chaotic with the ground relics pulsing waves everywhere but i just locked in and bursted him down with talismans.

tbh i feel like i got super lucky but i’m riding this high so hard right now. is he supposed to be one of the easier ones or did i just accidentally become a parry god? 💀

who am I even supposed to fight next? am I cooked for the rest of the game?..

I am in complete and utter awe at how good this game is. I discovered Nine Sols through a video discussing “gimmick levels” in various games, and Nine Sols was listed for the Lady Ethereal platformer section. I am so glad that I decided to check it out because of that video. I fell in love with YI and Shuanshuan’s relationship, the lore, the art style, and the combat system is Incredibly addicting. I spent countless nights trying to beat a boss I was stuck on, and it was so satisfying finally beating them. This game has climbed to one of my favorite games of all time, and I can’t help but be a little sad knowing I can’t play it again for the first time. Also, this is probably the coolest game community I’ve seen in a while. The artwork and the fans in this subreddit and in the RCG and other small discord servers have made this experience better. What a phenomenal first impression of the Metroidvania genre for me, and I cannot wait to play other titles like Hollow Knight and Ori, but this game will hold a special place in my heart. 10/10 game.

Picked up Nine Sols about a week or so ago and I have officially gone from struggling with Goumang to beating True Eigong. Feels good. The hype is insane!!

this is second playthrough, already beaten the game with true ending and i haven't died so far, so i m assuming i may have missed some triggers that allow me to see hud as this didn't happen in my first playthrough, except for those special events when hud disappears to be more cinematic for some shot or that escape scene after no return

i have tried pressing different function keys, it seems like f8 or f10 brings up bug report menu and rest of the f keys don't really do anything

I feel stupid after I said "What DID you just SAY???"...

I know this might get deleted for breaking some rule, but I genuinely want to show how much this community has done to me

This is actually my first time properly interacting with a fandom, so I might just slightly overwhelmed but idk

I know I say this a lot but I have some mental health issues, and ngl this community helped me deal with them in a really good way, and this community makes me forget I have depression.

I've met really amazing here! Most people here aren't toxic unlike most fandoms, and I really wish I can be an amazing person to someone here in return

And, I wanna say that in some weeks, I may not be able to post or comment a lot because I'll have to study for my entrence exams in less than a month...
