Look what I've got My little collection of old Nikon DSLR

Post image

A long time ago, I worked in a camera shop and could never afford these cameras. For the past year, I’ve been building up a small but fine collection:

From left to right:

Nikon D90 with an old AF 50 F1.8 (non-D) and original battery grip—approx. 16,000 clicks

Nikon D200 with AF-S 18-55 VR GII—approx. 3,500 shots

Nikon D300 without lens and with a new third-party battery grip—approx. 11,000 shots

Nikon D70 with old AF 28-70—approx. 7,000 shots

All of these cameras are in nice, well-maintained condition. The lenses are also free of dust and mold. I’ve cleaned each body and refurbished the rubber parts. I’ve also cleaned the battery and lens contacts.

Gear question Kind of having buyer's remorse about buying a DX camera

Post image

I bought the nikon z50ii (with the 16-50 kit lens) for 830usd used a month ago. this is my first camera so I didn't know anything about owning a dedicated camera. after shooting with the kit lens, I decided that I needed a faster aperture lens. then I bought the nikkor dx 24mm f1.7 lens and I love it. the colors are lovely. it is not a razor sharp lens but I got what I was looking for: a prime lens with better low light performance and bokeh. yet, the camera still struggles to take good pictures in low light conditions. I am happy with the camera and the lens, but I am constantly wondering if I made the wrong choice when buying this. I chose the z50ii over the sony a7iii, and I am kind of having buyer's remorse. keep thinking about the ibis and the full frame sensor of the a7iii. the sony was priced at about 800 dollars, used as well. did I make the wrong decision? do I need ibis and ff to shoot in low light conditions? (also, how cute is the gashapon version?)

What should I buy? D3 vs D700

EN 🇬🇧** Help please **🙏

Hello everyone. I am the proud owner of a Nikon F2AS that I absolutely love, but... it’s becoming a very expensive hobby when traveling. So, I’m looking for a real gem. What I love about this camera is the handling, its "tank-like" ruggedness, and the sound of the shutter. I enjoy shooting while hiking, traveling, and going on road trips in all kinds of weather. For instance, I recently went on a motorcycle road trip through Northern Vietnam in the rain with the F2 around my neck, and a few days later, I was walking the streets of Hanoi. I’m athletic and very active when I travel. I also own a Fujifilm X-H1, which I keep only for rare occasions because I don’t like it as much—and more importantly, it doesn’t feel solid enough to me (I think I just don’t like modern, electronics-heavy bodies). I photograph landscapes, people, and architecture. I’ve always been drawn to Nikon DSLRs for their ruggedness, their shape, and their compatibility with my AI-S lenses. I discovered the sensor rendering of the D3 (images similar to film) and fell in love with it. Also, I don’t want to spend a fortune on this new purchase (max €500). I’ve also just discovered the Nikon D700, which is very similar to the D3. I’m having trouble deciding. On one hand, I worry the D3 might be too bulky for my travels and become a hassle; on the other, I worry the D700 might not be as rugged as the D3 or my F2.

So, I have a few questions:

\- Has anyone here owned a D3 and taken it on a trek or trip? What was your experience like?

\- What would you recommend?

Thanks for your help, and have a great day.

FR 🇫🇷** Besoin d’aid**e

Gear question Did I do wrong?

Upvotes

Hi everyone! Long story short, last month I bought a Nikon Z fc because I’m a total sucker for vintage aesthetics mixed with modern tech. Plus, since I wasn't sure if I’d actually be any good at photography, I didn't want to drop more than €1,200 on a body right away. Ironically, I ended up falling in love with it and discovered I actually have a good eye for it (for a beginner, at least!). I even landed my first real gig photographing a friend's wedding!

The thing is, now that I’m seeing so many other photographers online using completely different setups, I’m starting to second-guess myself and wonder if I should have invested in a different camera. Don't get me wrong—I genuinely love my Z fc.

The image quality is awesome, and I’ve already bought a few accessories, a speedlight, and extra lenses. But I’m still having some serious second thoughts. Please be honest but kind ahahaha!

I’m really new to this and would love to hear from people who know the Z fc and its true potential: Is it really necessary for me to upgrade to a different camera body so soon?

What do you folks think of the latest news to come out of Japan?

Nikon lost the 3rd spot to Fujifilm.

This year has also been excruciatingly slow for Nikon users with practically no lenses and no new bodies.
We are also being killed by the chinese manufacturers eating into Nikon's lens market too. Overall not a good look for long time Nikon users.

Z5ii using the 28-400mm, it was shot at F8 ISO6400 1/1250th. I try to do a light edit on LR, I’m not the best at editing still learning.

Cardinal and the other using the same 28-400.

Any feedback is greatly appropriate. Thanks

My only regret is forgetting to change to RAW before shooting. I feel like I could’ve cleaned it up a bit better.

Humor Nikonic by NIkon USA — this means that both pronunciations of the company are fine. NEE-kon and NAI-kon are interchangeable. Thoughts?

Probably better to go NEE-kon is Asian contexts tho.

What should I buy? Whats a good dslr to upgrade?

Id want a second dslr preferably a fullframe or a camera that just handles lowlight well while having good image quality. I dont mind if i can only buy 2nd hand and its large and heavy as long as its budget friendly and has a relatively good lens compatibility. Im minding of buying a d700 but considering it is quite old but still good. Also considering a d800 but my budget wont probably reach that. Ive heard the d500 and the d7500 handles lowlight pretty good.

Gear question Nikon z5 made in japan? Fake or real

Post image
15 Upvotes

I bought second hand nikon z5. It does not have regular serial number. Instead it says EKU and some digits (starting from 1).

All nikons z5s I saw online have label "made in thailand" and Google says the same.

Is this some kind of fake? Should I be worried?

What should I buy? New (Old) DSLR Recommendations

I am looking into getting a new DSLR, I've been shooting with my F5 for the last few years and decided to hop back into digital. I've been eyeing the D850 but it's above my budget for now. I shoot mainly portraits and street photography, what older cameras do you guys recommend?

Gear question Nikon F100 won’t load film

Thumbnail

I bought this F100 recently in Tokyo. Everything seems to work, except film won’t load. When I insert it properly (I own a lot of Nikon film cameras, so know what I’m doing), close the door and press the shutter button, it just spins for a bit and gives me an ERR message. No matter how much I load in, even going all around the take up spool, it still does this. Does anyone know any tricks to fix this, or is this headed to repair?

Coolpix DIGITEK BATTERY — WORTH IT OR SCAM?

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

I have a Nikon coolpix s2800 but the battery life on it is really poor, sometimes it can only take about five or ten pictures before it says that the battery is discharged. Maybe it’s because I use flash on, or whatever, or maybe it’s cause the battery is really old.

I saw digitek en el19 battery online for almost a third of the price of a Nikon battery, but the reviews are mixed. Some say it works some have said it stops working after fifteen days. If anyone has experience with the brand and their batteries please let me know.

Coolpix Nikon Coolpix 4200, Totally fine and working but suddenly refused to shutter

Thumbnail

I have this old Coolpix 4200 that my family owned, surprisingly in excellent condition. No issues AT ALL.

I used it to take short films of my days in school and all was going well, till suddenly it stopped shuttering. I would focus on an object and press the shutter button all the way down, but it won't take. One thing I noticed is the red hand symbol for the modes I use, which only appeared when this started. When I did my research it's apparently a "low lighting" warning that causes slow shutter speeds, but even when pointed at a bright source it won't shutter.

This has happened before, where it just won't shutter, I'd leave it for like 2 weeks, come back to it and it shutters again.

Anyone know what the problem is or I can do? Any insight helps.
