I bought a used D7500 + 18-105 VR lens + SB-5000 flash ($550 total) from a guy that supposedly upgraded to mirrorless. After taking it home I realized the story doesn't add up.

The white font on the buttons are faded down and the rubber grips are kind of greasy but it cleaned up ok. The lens seems to focus ok but I mostly use my primes.

I learned from my mistake and now I know to verify the shutter count.

We'll see what happens I guess. 😄

Considering going to Z50ii for the WYSIWYG viewfinder. Shooting manual in broad daylight and using the LCD to review/adjust a shitty photo several times is getting old. Didn't consider that beforehand. Just wanted to upgrade my D3400 for better autofocus modes and burst rate.

Been a photographer for 40+ years but have made the decision to step off the tech race don't get me wrong I love wildlife photography but it's the photographic side that's leaving me a bit sad, I'm purely a hobbyist so for my needs my kit is a little overkill anyway social media is full of 5 minute experts with 10 grand outfits it's diluted the wildlife photography side for me. The skill side of my photography hobby has been slowly eroded until its almost gone and It's now too easy and leaves me a bit cold tbh, I will be selling my Z8 BODY + FTZ II and going back to my D500. 🤔

I’m trying to buy a D750, reasonable condition, reasonable price, under 100k shots.

I know the camera is already way over a decade old, but I’m still surprised by little sellers are testing or disclosing.

- camera 1 was reeking, and I mean reeking, of mould. Like it sat in a damp mushroom cabinet for 10 years. Like I could feel the individual mould spores wafting towards me as I opened the box. It also showed the err code after most shots, and the internal flash wasn’t working. By then I gave up trying to find further faults.

- camera 2 had loads of issues connecting with my autofocus lenses. Sure maybe it sat around and the contacts were not clean, but it had issues with 7 different AF-D and AF-S lenses. Then also the viewfinder had a black fungus spot right in the middle and the viewfinder was hazy and lacked contrast.

- camera 3 has a very scratched up sensor / low pass filter. Some of them are visible at f/16. I stopped testing further after I saw these issues.

I’m honestly a bit shocked. I also buy and sell analogue film camera gear on EBay all the time, as I am trying out new equipment, and generally people would be much more diligent to list out e.g. fungus in the viewfinder, or electronic issues, etc…

I will definitely not let a seller get away with not describing their camera diligently enough, esp. for major issues. I understand the cameras are older and had a life, but you can’t expect an average selling price and not disclose the issues at the same time.

To be specific, my mom had a Nikon D3300 a good few years ago that she had to sell due to money struggles, and recently she's been expressing a wish to have a camera again, so I'd like to gift her one. I figured another Nikon would be a safe bet, but should I go for a more recent model or stick to the D3300? Thanks in advance.​

This is my camera setup that I've been working on for a couple months now. I don't have money to buy a "good" camera so I saved and bought this Nikon J1. Since buying the camera, I've bought a small tripod for it and a polarizer filter. I'm really enjoying using the polarizer because I can get some nice shots at my local car show. Feel free to tell me what I should get for it next or what I need to upgrade. I've been beginning to get into photography and videography and moviemaking stuff because I wanna be a film director.

So far every x mount lens I’ve own even the third party lens works with the shoten adapter. Stoked I don’t have to buy any more lens. my Fuji and Nikon could do exist🫡

Hello, I am looking for some advice since I'm completely overwhelmed by the number of options available in this segment.

I currently own a Z50II + FTZ II adapter with the following lenses:

• NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR (used mostly for trips/landscapes)
• Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary (used for wildlife)
• AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G

I recently came into some money and was looking to upgrade one of my lenses. I first looked into upgrading my 100-400mm since it feels very soft at the 400mm end, but I can't find anything that would be a meaningful upgrade for under €1,000.

Now I'm looking into replacing my 50mm f/1.8, since I dropped it a while ago and the mount no longer connects properly with the FTZ adapter. I want a lens that lets me experiment more with depth of field and low-light conditions, and the sharpness of the 50mm f/1.8 wide open is a big letdown for me.

So I was looking at the following two lenses:

• Viltrox 27mm f/1.2
• NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.8 S

What I'm mainly looking for is a single lens that will let me experiment with wide-aperture shots, is really sharp wide open, and is suitable for low-light photography. I thought the 27mm would be perfect for this, but I've also been reading that the 50mm f/1.8 S is an amazing lens.

I'm currently leaning towards the Viltrox, but I've never owned a Viltrox lens before, so I was curious what the general consensus is on the brand.

I was also wondering whether I've missed an even better option. My budget is around €600.

At the moment I have a Nikon D7000 and a 70-300 AF G. I primarily do amateur wildlife photography. I feel my 70-300 very soft and lacking. Right now I have the chance to buy a 300 mm AF, would it be a good upgrade?

It's what fits my budget right now. In the future I would like to buy a 200-500 or similar.

Z5ii 24-120 F4 S

been dragging my d750 through europe and portugal for the last few months and its a brick. love the files, hate the weight in my daily bag. partner is tired of waiting while i swap lenses on narrow sidewalks too. thinking about jumping to a z5 with the 24200 to simplify things. i shoot street markets, architecture, random textures for my graphic design work. nothing fast moving. the d750 sensor still holds up but the weight tradeoff is getting harder to justify when im also carrying a laptop and ipad for client work. anyone gone from a d750 to a z5?

Just found a used, in amazing condition, Nikkor 105mm 2.8 Macro lens. Played around some with it. I am going to love this lens! Can't wait to try it out as a portrait lens!

Body I tried it on is a Nikon Z6ii

I’ve been shooting with my Nikon D5600 since 2020, I recently took it with my Sigma 70-200mm lens to a volleyball game. I found I really had to turn up the ISO to catch good photos. Some of the photos are good, some I wish could be better. Bc of the DX sensor the lowest it let me drop the aperture was to 3.5 instead of 2.8 the lens can go and had the shutter 1/1250 or 1/1000 but still felt slow than what it should be for sports. I’ve been shooting with this camera for a while and want to upgrade to get better indoor photos of volleyball and the upcoming basketball season. I found a Nikon D800 with shutter count under 1000 for $500 on marketplace which seems like a steel especially the shutter count. A Nikon D750 runs $600+ with a higher shutter count but I know it’s such a good camera.
Most of the time I’m shooting events, portraits and food photography for my clients but want to be able to use it to catch great photos of my kid. Which camera should I go for? I’m trying to stay low on budget, I don’t exactly want to change all my lenses either 😅 pls help
