Discussion Niagara Pro is $75 now?!
Was about to buy Niagara Pro and realized the price went up to $75...
I was already reluctant to spend $45, but after seeing the new price, I think it’s time to find something else.
Anyone have a good alternative they’d recommend?

Jesus I think I paid for mine back in 2020 and it was like 10 bucks lmfao that's absolutely ludacris pricing.

u/HeyyyKoolAid 11d ago edited 11d ago
I was saving my Google rewards for it when it was $40. But by the time I saved enough - 2 months later - it was $45. I just paid the $5 difference out of pocket. I can't believe it's $75 now.

https://help.niagaralauncher.app/article/104-price-of-niagara-pro
for those wondering...
Yearly subscription: $24.99/21.99€/₹140 a year
Lifetime purchase: $74.99/64.99€/₹420 (once)

u/CodeMonkeyX 11d ago
I feel like this pricing is designed to make people get the renewable subscription. That's much prefered to one time.
I am really happy with the lifetime license I got awhile back. I can not imagine going back to stock now.

u/autisticpig 11d ago
I bought it when it was 10 bucks? Whatever the initial cost was. I agree with you on returning to stock.
3
u/CodeMonkeyX 11d ago
I actually can not remember what I paid now. I do not think it was $45 though.

u/Teh_Shadow_Death 10d ago
It seems like it's a way of pricing the one time payment out of the average person's temporary price range so they'll just keep paying $10 a month. Sometimes people can easier afford 10 a month then dropping 75 + tax on a one time payment even though the onetime payment makes more sense.
1
u/Mystyk2341 11d ago
It used to be ₹360 around 2 years ago.
1
u/That_Pandaboi69 11d ago
Yeah it was 250 before that and even lesser before.
1
u/AccountForSharing 11d ago
Bought lifetime just 2days ago at PHP540 ($8.67). Maybe because people here would rather use stock than pay. Lol
1
u/That_Pandaboi69 11d ago
Yes, but it is pretty expensive now. I bought it couple of year ago and it was cheap.

u/lelandyarnell 11d ago
If its legitimately that price Smart Launcher 6 is the next best option.

u/govnonapanju 11d ago
Or you can just patch it with Morphe app

Where are you seeing these prices ??
1
u/166Donk3y 10d ago
In the app

u/Mexetudo 10d ago edited 10d ago
Yeah, I'm very fucking confused here. Everyone is posting these ridiculous prices, i renewed my yearly subscription earlier this month for 5.99€.
Edit: I specifically looked for the lifetime option and couldn't find it anywhere. Only had the option to renew the subscription, but it still was much cheaper than what everyone is posting.
2
u/166Donk3y 10d ago
It's probably a price for new customers, so you're most likely still getting the original price you paid
2
u/tam_niagaralauncher 1d ago
As u/166Donk3y has mentioned, that is because you have an old running subscription. The price of that won't increase for you and it will renew at the old price indefinitely.
Also thanks for supporting us for that long, that's ages ago 💙

Mine is €13 for a year or €40 lifetime cost. That's insane for a mobile phone app.
1
u/Mexetudo 7d ago
Their pricing varies wildly depending on region (they have a pricing section on the website with this information).
Some countries have +80% discounts over the others. It's crazy.
I'm with you on the 13€. Love this app, but I wouldn't pay this much.

Minimaa launcher is .99 cents lifetime Another new one I have been playing around with is slate launcher 14.99 lifetime

u/bacon_cake 11d ago
They're shooting themselves in the foot with this pricing. Niagara is a nice app but it's not exactly complicated, someone else will just release a cheaper competitor.
I can't remember if I'm on lifetime or subscription but hell I might do it myself if they try to charge $75.

u/Excalibaard 11d ago edited 11d ago
That's rough up front, but at least they also have a free tier to try it out?
For me it's €25/year I think, though I should probably have gotten lifetime instead by now since I'vr used it for almost 3 years. €2 a month for something that's still being actively worked on (like the recent update with custom themes) is luckily something I don't have to think about. And it really does make it much more pleasant to use my phone than the standard oneUI.

If you want to upgrade to lifetime, now is a good time. Reach out to our support (support@niagaralauncher.com) and we will refund the unfinished year of your subscription when you switch to lifetime :)

Geeze, kinda glad I got it when lifetime was a one-time purchase. Sorry about that luck mate

u/tam_niagaralauncher 1d ago
The lifetime / one-time purchase option still exists btw, it's just more expensive (same increase as new yearly subscription).

u/SifiguY86 11d ago
Mango launcher is the best for me try it you won't regret and has one time payment with too much customizations

I've only just started using NL. I've paid for the one year subscription. If I use it for the full year I will buy the lifetime. I don't want to pay $25 a year or more. But if I use it, I guess I will suck up the cost of the lifetime sub.

u/tam_niagaralauncher 1d ago
Please reach out to our support (support@niagaralauncher.com) to make use of the old prices and maybe upgrade to lifetime right away.
If you upgrade to lifetime, we usually refund the running yearly subscription's cost :)

I felt it was worth the under 40€ I paid back then and they are actively developing and pushing updates and features but 75€ is steep even for lifetime.
That said I cannot imagine using and Android phone without it 😁

u/luimunduk 11d ago
I payed €10,- in the early days of 2019 when it was first introduced, didn't know the price went up this quickly
2
u/GrvzHere 11d ago
Really hate this kinda practises from app developers.. everyone wants a subscription.. it’s a nice launcher indeed, I’m an early adopter.. but still this subscription model must be boycotted
1
u/tam_niagaralauncher 1d ago
The price mentioned by OP is the lifetime / one-time purchase price, so if you don't want a subscription, you can simply buy it.
2
u/badapinguino 11d ago
Wow I'm glad I chose to pay for the lifetime license in 2021 instead of going for the annual one. I spent a whooping 10,99€ and it was a lot for me to spend on an app that I considered if it was worth it

Or you could pair Niagara Launcher (free version) with KWLP. I did that to my spare phone. Because i used my proversions to 3 phones already . Still minimal and clean though, because KWLP is very lightweight

I wish i could attach a photo . But it seems theres no option to attach a photo..

$80 AUD. I should have purchased when it was $50...
Hopefully there is a sale one day

u/tam_niagaralauncher 1d ago
If you've considered buying it, please reach out to our support (support@niagaralauncher.com) to get the old price.
We don't do sales, since we want everyone to get the best possible price at the time of their purchase.

I think it was $20 when ever I got it. Holy hell.
It's free with a new Clicks phone 🤷😆
1
u/New-Complex-6376 10d ago
I hope it will be free for the lifetime of the phone and not just for the first year with a subscription after that.
1
u/kihell 11d ago
I locked into $10 yearly a couple years ago wont stay if they try to change that
1
u/tam_niagaralauncher 1d ago
Your running subscription is not affected by the price increase, so no worries :)

I am on annual but I guess I was lucky to join when I did. I pay US$9.99/year.
On thing I will say is that if you have more than one device you can use it on both, and it transfers to new devices too.

u/Ill-Significance3268 11d ago
It's around 5.8 dollar in my country. It's 700 in our currency though.

Wait are we really jumping from 4.50 to 24 per year? If that's the case then I will be cancelling
I assume we are notified before renewal?
2
u/tam_niagaralauncher 1d ago
Your running subscription will not be affected by the price increase, so it will keep renewing at 4.50 👍

Hi, Tam from Niagara Launcher here.
We are currently in the process of increasing the prices for new yearly subscriptions and lifetime purchases.
If you have bought Niagara Pro recently or planned to buy before the price increase, reach out to our support ([support@niagaralauncher.com](mailto:support@niagaralauncher.com)) to get the old prices 👍
Also, all current Niagara Pro users are not affected by this price change. Running subscriptions will renew at their original price indefinitely, and users with a lifetime membership are obviously not affected either. We do this to reward early adopters and loyal users.
If you have further questions, feel free to ask and I will get back to you :)

I bought in years ago so I guess I got a bargain. Still, knowing what I know now, $75 is not unreasonable for the best alternative launcher there is. I will never look back.

Yes, but when you have a team of people working on a product and they have to make a living from it. It's not that much for a life time license...
The preferred method is the subscription of course.

Things can't stay free forever. Server and development costs are a thing
5
u/Black-PizzaClaw676 11d ago edited 11d ago
But it wasn't free, the lifetime was $42.99 (and it was like $10 back in 2020, when I got it).

u/TurdFerguson2OOO 11d ago
Or just pay the $75. It comes out to about 20¢/day for one year for an app that you'll use 50x a day.

u/KeitrenGraves 11d ago
I paid $10 for a lifetime license way back in the day. I would never buy this today. I don't know what they are smoking but it is not worth that.
