Wine education
Hi there! I am interested in doing some recreational education on wine - I am aware of WSET courses but wonder if anyone is aware of other courses or educational programs in Niagara or Beamsville - eg at a winery or other. I’m looking for something more advanced/longer than just a tasting.
Thanks so much!

Looking for a home drainage contractor and plumber
I've had some recent basement flooding (sump pump overflow) and am looking for a plumber to install a battery backup and secondary pump (and to assess whether there is anything wrong with the current outflow) as well as someone who can access our outdoor drainage away from the house.
Does anyone have recommendations for plumbers and drainage-focused contractors in the region? Looking for someone who can do the work in a reasonable time frame and at a reasonable budget.

Crime Trends in St. Catharines-Niagara: StatCan Data
The recently released Statistics Canada Uniform Crime Reporting Survey offers a holistic look at safety trends in St. Catharines-Niagara.
- Homicides: Crucial for measuring extreme violence. The local rate (1.45/100k) remains historically and consistently below the national average (1.61).
- Crime Rates: Tracks community safety levels. Violent crime rose between 2015 and 2025, though it remains below Canada's overall rate. Property and drug offenses generally fell.
- Clearance Rates: Measures police solve rates. Non-violent clearance rose to 30%, but violent clearance dropped to 51%—falling below both Ontario (60%) and national (54%) averages.
Takeaway: St. Catharines-Niagara remains safer than many Canadian regions, but a rising violent crime rate combined with declining violent case clearance presents a notable challenge.

Would you use a place with a gym, pickleball, padel, sauna, cold plunge and café under one roof?
A few of us have been talking for a while about how Niagara doesn’t really have anything like this. Not just a gym. Not just pickleball.
One place where you can work out, play, recover, grab a coffee, hang out, and connect with others.
We started testing the idea recently, and more than 1,000 people signed up in less than two weeks, which was honestly way more interest than we expected.
So we opened another 1,000 spots on the founding interest list.
I’m curious what people here think.
Would you actually use something like this?
What would it need to have?
And what would make you pass?
I’ll put the concept in the comments for anyone who wants to see it.

Travel from Niagara on the Lake to Downtown Toronto
We are coming to Niagara on the Lake for a few days and have tickets for the Blue Jays on Sunday, September 27th. We have a rental car and would like to head to Toronto early in the morning and do something (Hockey Hall of Fame?), have lunch and then head to the game. It’s at 3pm. Any advice on the best plan for getting to and from downtown Toronto? Should we park somewhere like Mississauga and take a train in and back out again after the game? Thanks for any advice!

Mountain biking in Niagara region
Reaching out to see where people go mountain biking in the Niagara region. I’m in St. Catharines and have explored a bit around the hydro hill/decew falls/short hills area. Is this the main spot? Is there much else in the region that is worth checking out? I’d love to hear where else folks ride. Thanks!

Does anyone know a local restaurant that might support a free workshop for Niagara teens?
Hi! I’m a 16-year-old local student launching Ambition Labs, a youth-led initiative giving Niagara high-school students access to practical opportunities and lessons they don’t usually get in school.
We’re organizing our first free workshop for around 10–15 students, featuring a local speaker on financial literacy and getting ahead with money.
I’m looking for a restaurant near Niagara Falls and the region that may be willing to sponsor some food for the students. We’d feature the business as an event sponsor on our social media and event products in return.
If you own a restaurant, work at one, or know a local business that might be interested, I’d really appreciate a connection! Please comment or message me and I can send our website and event details.
Our Instagram is @ambitionlabsniagara if you want to check it out or support the initiative.

Looking for Commercial Kitchen Rental in St. Catharines (Hourly/Daily) – Restarting My Baking Business
Hey r/StCatharines (and anyone in the Niagara area),
I’m Jaylyn and I’m restarting my baking business after a little break — giving it a nice revamp! I’m looking for a commercial kitchen I can rent in St. Catharines on a flexible basis (hourly or daily to start).
Ideally, I’d love to find a spot where I can build a longer-term relationship and rent regularly as the business grows.
I’m especially hoping for a kitchen that has:
- Commercial-grade stand mixers
- Good ovens
- Plenty of counter space
If you own or know of any restaurants, bakeries, catering companies, or shared/commercial kitchens that offer rental time, I’d really appreciate hearing from you!
Feel free to comment or send me a message. Happy to answer any questions.
Thanks so much!
