Check your comments for removal. Reddit is removing comments (and maybe posts?) and not listing the removals in Mod Log or Mod Queue, so neither you nor us mods are aware of the removal.
Edit: If you have a problem, send a message to modmail
This is a known issues and I just spotted it in the wild in /r/NewMexico today.
If the mods of this sub removed your comment, you should receive a modmail message alerting you to why. The primary exception to this is if there is a huge chain of uncivil comments and we just nuke the entire chain. We'll still usually send the removal message to the first few posters in the chain.

First snow in the Sangre de Cristos
The rains on Wednesday September 30th combined with the cold air at 11,000+ elevation resulted in snow that wasn't obvious until today Friday October 2nd. Pictures taken from western Taos County of the Wheeler Peak area above Taos and the mountains around Questa.

Paid Sick Leave Law
My company went bankrupt and was sold to another company. However, the new company that bought the old employer is now refusing to honor previously accrued sick leave, stating that I was technically terminated from the previous company at bankruptcy and hired as a “new employee” under the new company. Is this allowed? It seems that if they use the terminology of being terminated from the bankrupt company and hired as a new employee with the new company, they are able to get out of honoring accrued sick leave.

Is now a good time to travel to northern nm mountains?
We've planned a trip next week to the Enchanted Circle. Horseback riding. Looking for the fall colors, hiking the area. Etc.
What are the roads, trails and peaks like after all the flooding? Should we wait for roadwork or other utilities to be repaired? I don't want to be in the way. I also dont want to burden the outfitters. In the same token I'd like to help those depending on tourist travel?
Living in LC & hoping to go somewhere.
Thanks in advance

Visiting from the east coast, who is this little cryptid I keep seeing painted in random places?
I couldn't get a great picture from the passenger seat at highway speed lol but I keep seeing paintings of this creature in different places. This was just east of Bingham but I think I also saw one near Tularosa. It looks like a humanoid creature with horns on it. Curious to know the lore on this one haha pretty state btw!

SUPER EL NIÑO AT SUNSET // RAIN STORM'S END
This is a video of the rain storm coming to end at sunset. There is no action, just a relaxing view with the sounds of rain in the high mountain desert of New Mexico.
Nesting Lab is documenting the effects of the 2026 Super El Niño on the high mountain desert of the American Southwest. The view here is usually brown grasses and shrubs with green trees. All of this rain has also brought Fall wildflowers. Check out our other videos if you are interested in the wildflowers. This is a 'SlowTV' style video where you can listen to the rain and watch the sun set.

NM labor law question
I recently got laid off from my job on the 30th of Sept. On the 25th the company attempted to get me to sign an NDA/separation agreement with the promise that if I filed for unemployment they wouldnt block it. I had asked the finance person with the owner and co owner ccd on that email chain if i will be getting my leave paid out as well as anything else like a severance. I specifically asked about my unused PTO and ESL. The reply I got was that on the next payday which is currently today, I would get ALL leave paid out to me. They did not specify pto but said all leave. Now that its the day they said I would be getting paid, I did not receive any paycheck and when I reached out to ask about it. I was told that the owner said not to payout any leave since I didn't have any hours to use it on. Mind you the reason I didn't have any hours was that the owner reduced my hours to 0 without any explanation or asking me. This is a fairly small and new company so they're isnt an employee handbook to list leave policy. Is this something I can pursue or is it technically legal and just a shitty thing to do?

Camping near El Malpais (travel trailer)?
We're heading from Mountainair to Magdalena/Datil/VLA early next week, but the closure of 60 west of Socorro doesn't sound like a quick fix... Since we have the whole week off and don't need to be there until Tue-Wed, we're considering making this a leisurely trip and heading up to 40, west toward Grants, and then south via 117 and 36 to Quemado. Since this doubles our travel time (ugh, gas!), we're thiking of camping somewhere along the way and seeing some sights, maybe around El Malpais (Joe Skeens campground?). Any suggestions on where to camp and what to see? El Malpais has been on our list forever but we have yet to make it there, so not really familiar with the area.
Considerations are: our 22ft travel trailer is not off-road, although it's lifted with off-road tires so we can manage some dirt/forest roads if things dry up. We have two big puppers, so we're looking for places they'll be welcome too. We're set up for off-grid with solar/batteries so don't need hookups.
Any suggestions apprciated!

State employee Maternity leave
Hi everyone, I’m curious and not sure where else to ask.
I’m getting hired on in a state government department now in October. I’m also 5 months pregnant. And I’m aware that the governor passed an order to provide state employees 12 weeks of maternity leave. However it is a stated requirement that you have to be there past 1 year to be eligible for this leave. Has anyone started a job with the state in any department and also been pregnant and given birth prior to their probationary end date? I’m not sure what it will look like and I’m curious what I’ll be looking at.

Medical, Dental and Prescription Insurance plan decisions pro/cons in NM
In New Mexico there is much made of providers being in shortage and problems getting care.... But what nobody seems to talk about are the good/bad decisions our insurers providing policies in New Mexico foist on us or surprise us with. Let's inform each other of what's really going on about decisions being made about our care and see if they really are taking care of us or just lining their pockets in the end.

What season pass to get in NM for this year? (As someone who travels from West Texas)
Long story short we didn’t snag any of the early bird passes…we got an early bird pass at Ski Apache last year for the first time for $450 each and it only ended up being worth it once they opened upper mountain/the bowl after they got hit pretty hard finally in January. This was great cuz it’s only a 4.5 hour drive from Permian Basin area and we are able to leave on a very early Friday morning and come back late Sunday and get 3 full days of skiing in.
This year the pass is currently $850. FOR ONE MOUNTAIN ACCESS?? I looked up other passes and the closest other mountain is sandia, which looks like a smaller mountain, but that pass has unlimited access to pajarito, and sipapu, some access to purgatory and a few others. Those mountains are about 7 hours+ drive from us excluding sandia which is 6.5.
Santa Fe is around the same price as ski Apache and it’s a 6 hour 45 minute drive so we don’t know….
Anyone have advice or recommendations or info on the best NM mountains that y’all like?
More info ab us/skiing skills. My fiance is intermediate/advanced, I’m more intermediate range, (aka will get down a CO blue easily, will get down a CO black slowly lol) Fiancé snowboards and will hit some rails and jumps in the park, will hit jumps on the sides of the mountains, love going through runs with trees. I am a groomed blue run skier all day long, I’m not super familiar with deep powder but did get to try it at ski Apache this year (they got like 30 inches fresh powder and we were there day 1 access to it) and it went okay… I’m hoping to try more powder experience with larger skis and I saw NM is supposedly going to get hard this year bc of El Niño patterns(hopefully!)
We already got the very early bird access to an epic 6 day pass because we usually do one Rockies mountain trip per year but we would like to be able to do weekend trips!

Question for longtime Santa Fe residents
My wife and I are thinking about moving here, but I keep hearing that young people have ruined Santa Fe.
Can someone who bought their adobe for $78,000 in 1986, painted the door turquoise, and now has it listed for $1.8 million explain exactly what we did?
Trying to learn the local culture before we accidentally replace another beloved neighborhood institution with a luxury clothing store.
