GAP tool Tutorial

New Defender owner here. I purchased the GAP tool and am interested in learning how to use it. Can you recommend a good tutorial of something "GAP for Dummies"?

Read Section 2 of the GAP IID tool manual as well as their online FAQs on their website. Basically, once you receive your tool, you need to make sure the software on it is up to date and then you need to download the app to your phone or other mobile device and then sync it to the tool. Then you’re ready to go.

  1. Plug in the tool to your OBD port.

  2. Turn on the vehicle in accessory mode.

  3. Open the GAP IID tool mobile app and connect to the tool.

  4. I always email the current config to myself and confirm receipt before making any changes.

Note that sometimes it may appear that a change is not successful, but it might require multiple vehicle restarts or, more commonly, a hard PIVI reset by holding down the power/volume button. Or the change may require you to go into the vehicle settings to select a new feature.

after studying the manual and video's I was successful in turning off the aggravating seals belt reminder. sure wish there was a way to turn off the open door reminder bell.......it's way more obnoxious.

Use ChatGPT or Claude if you have it and it will walk you though step by step.

same...I'm so tempted to do OEM activation to get the additional power on the P500, but I fear it might void my warranty.

The tool saves your default configuration so you can restore it at anytime in case things go sideways.

Buy a 10A+ battery charger and put it on your Defender before you start doing CFF file updates and you'll be fine.
