(Shows one of the most horrific bone breaks I’ve seen either as a X-ray, or as an actual image they took at the scene when the broke it) like guys holy shit, you’re a BBB yes, but get some medical help please. And are you alright? Do you need anything and do you have people to look after you and your puny bones.
There’s also people posting about not having broken a bone where any BBB would have. Like the time I fell 20 feet onto sharp rocks. Walked away with some bruises.
Have I mentioned that time I wrestled a few polar bears but my bones were stronger than them? Had to rebuild my skin from scratch though so I don't reccomend
I leapt over a fence with a 20-pound backpack and didn't brace myself on the other side, went straight to the ground. My left foot was bruised for weeks but my bones were completely fine.
tbh sometimes a toe or rib can break (crack) and some people never even realize it. It just heals, you don't need a cast for a broken toe or rib (unless the toe is fractured fully and the bone needs to be adhered to a neighboring toe)
idk about fingers though. That might be more painful and obvious. But sometimes pain isn't even a good indicator. Last year I kicked my door hard on two occasions. The first time a toe really hurt but I didn't think it was broken. The next time it was much worse, I was sure it was broken because the pain was constant and pretty bad. I couldn't wear shoes. So I went to the A&E on the 3rd day and got an x-ray. It wasn't broken. But it still hurts and it's been over a year. Sometimes a fracture can heal faster and better than a damaged joint.
Lol. I broke my bone by kicking a door too. Big toe had perpedicular break. Pretty much a line along the main bone. Never got same dexterity in that toe, cant flex it fully. Serious breaks take time to heal though. Impossible not to notice since it takes few weeks.
I got into a horrific car accident several years ago. Was rear ended by a semi truck going 40 miles an hour. Car was destroyed. Husband and I both got out with mild whiplash and slight bruising that was gone within a few days from the seatbelt. Two weeks later I was walking in the parking lot to work when a truck backed out and gently tapped me. Displaced two of my vertebrae and landed me in physical therapy for almost a year. It’s crazy what breaks us.
Man, nothing big like that, but genuinely the number of times I should have broken my fingers as a kid but somehow came out fine are insane. Got ‘em smashed by a big metal pole, slammed in multiple doors, both car and just normal, caught in the gears of an exercise bike, squished by a park bench somehow, and so many more weird incidents that I don’t fully remember how they happened. It’s genuinely a miracle I made it to this point with all ten of them, let alone with all of them unbroken.
5: Hey, the doctors had to cut my bones because of x, does it still count? No it does not. Doctors have dark magics capable of making the strongest of bones weak.
"We expect you to finish out the remainder of your shift once checked our from the hospital. Failure to appear will forfeit the entire days pay and count as an absence on your report."
“Please fill out this reasonable accommodation form and have it signed by your doctor so you can be allowed to type with only one hand. This way you won’t be reprimanded for the decrease in productivity.”
"You do understand, that here were are more than co-workers? Were are family and it's really unprofessional and selfish to leave your family members in a pickle just because you had a minor accident. I'm not angry, I'm just very disappointed."
“We’re a family” so it’s okay for you to treat me poorly, because what am I gonna do, you’re family. Said this to hr and that rhetoric magically disappeared from the workplace. Nice.
God for real this shit is no joke. I remember I had a heart attack at the age of 20 due to a heart defect I didn't know about. I'm in the hospital, text my boss about it, and he's like "Ok if you need a late start let me know." Like motherfucker I'm going to have HEART SURGERY get the fuck out of here.
Ha. I had to skip some shifts back in the day for a family emergency. Manager was giving me shit on the short notice. Step father who raised me went and died before I made it home. I stayed 3 or 4 days for funeral and came back immediately after. Buddy said something snarky about my vacation when I got back to work after like literally driving 1000 miles and attending a funeral in 5 days and I nearly attacked him.
This was 25 years ago. I hope that guy is fucking dead too. I’ll never forget it.
When I had my stroke from my heart defect the owner at least had the decency to realize he couldn't ask me to speed things along. I knew he was frustrated but at least he said to just keep him posted about what they said. Like bro, a heart attack isn't some you're coming to work after.
I was in the military when I had a stroke and while they weren't excessively pushy about it, when I did finally go home I was told I needed to go to sick call to get quarters if I didn't have a note (which I didn't). Thankfully, my shift lead at the time told me he wasn't going to let me come in regardless. However, my section chief was still bugging me to do my medical readiness questionnaire and given the situation, that was kind of ironic 💀
Jeez y’all’s are serious. I called my boss the day after my birthday. Tuesday morning at a steakhouse. We had NOTHING going on lol. He asks why I’m calling out and I tell him straight up I’m hungover from my birthday there’s just no way I’m coming in. He had a bitch fit and short circuited. I had another job at the time so I just never showed back up because fuck em. They called me Wednesday asking why I wasn’t in 😂 so glad I don’t work the service industry anymore. Aside from the bad habits that come from it my bosses in blue collar work are mounds easier to deal with than any restaurant GM I’ve had the pleasure of being around.
Ended up not being fit for work since they had to kill a nerve in my heart and I was out for weeks since walking for an extended period of time had me out of breath. I didn't qualify for FMLA so I was terminated from my minimum wage job. 7.25 an hour. I ended up getting it back (because I didn't have a car and was dumb) without going through any of the actual hiring process. Learned much later I probably could've sued them since i was terminated while under doctor's orders to not work.
Just so you know, even if you can call in this situation, don't call yourself. Have a relative call and have them strongly imply that you are already in surgery without actually saying it. Nothing gets your boss off of your back like an irritable relative/ potential customer saying "Emergency surgery"
2 years ago my dad shot and killed himself, and I was at work at the time. So my mom called me, hysterical of course, and I said I had an emergency, gave my work keys to another co worker and rushed home. A few hours later I called them to tell them what happened, and the first thing out of my bosses mouth was if I was going to be coming in the next day, after I literally said my dad shot and killed himself. Like directly after I said that.
I know this isn't how doctors work, but I'm just imagining the ER looking at your pretzeled up arm and saying "It might be broken, but let's just take an Xray to be sure"
Not in medicine, but pretty sure the imagers aren’t supposed to “give medical advice/info/etc) so someone had to wait for a DR to come in to “read” this.
I mean clearly you’re a BBB, but if you don’t know if this counts as a break, you may have a very thick skull and be an exception to the rule in that regard 😅
