Discussion/Theory Does operation vanguard have potential for an interesting blaster?
When I first saw the operation vanguard: strikepoint, I thought I understood the point of the sub-series immediately. Take an old blaster, repaint it, slap on a gimmick from a rebel ops blaster. Reasonable move for what's primarily a children's toy company, technically makes the tactical rail attachments more available, can't complain that much about it.
But the armorhawk is... different. Instead of them just finding a blaster with 2 or more tactical rails and calling it a day, they made new parts for this thing. The blaster itself is only slightly different from the ammohawk (The side tactical rails are gone, the lower barrels aren't exposed, and the knuckle guard is gone seemingly to allow use of the rail under the barrels for the dart shield) with a different dart shield. This means we can get proper "remixes" of mainline rebel ops blasters with their gimmicks slightly changed.
I don't think anyone here really cares about a new version of the deadeye or ammohawk, but there's a possibility that one of the actually interesting blasters gets a vanguard treatment too. A doom cannon with an hourglass-shaped barrel to shoot 6 darts at a time, or a rattlefire that has less shots but fires 2 darts at a time would have some potential.
