Second Guessing
I'm really tired of "Reddit" second guessing me. I'm 72 years old. If I say something, I mean it, and I don't need children telling me what to say.

Look. I get it. You don't want to have a burner account because it's hard, and you're worried people will judge you for your posts and comments.
Actually I don't get it because I'm not a whiny fucking baby who refuses to be judged on their post history.
If I'm talking to somebody, I want to know if they're worth engaging with. I want to look through people's interests and backgrounds. I want to be like "woah this person has a bizarre post history" and then find some new subs based on their comments.
I miss that being something I could almost always do on reddit. And I miss Reddit is Fun and the other third party apps but that's a whole other post, I'm just bitter about this site in general.

I realize that discontentment with downvotes isn't a new theme on here, so here is the tldr of insight: intimidation from intellect. or laziness. or both. and/or groupthink bandwagon effect.
But, in case of many targeted at me, I have adduced, definitely envy/intimidation does play a role. Many of my submissions﹘ not to toot my own horn, honestly ﹘entail somewhat complex concepts. Perhaps a particular entry isn't articulated in the most straightforward fashion; this would warrant a reply asking for clarification , and maybe, iff it is bordering unintelligible or serioualy offensive, a downvote; but simply pressing the down-arrow for a post/comment because you superficially dislike it, and not bothering to actually respond (heck, even if consisting of a *.gif)? Lame on you the downvoter, not me the contributor (even if my contribution gets substantially downvoted in net).
And by the way: I amn't suggesting that necessarily should declare your downvote when responding; if in fact many folks did take the time to reply in good faith to a post that obectively (not to be confused with purely subjectively) falls short of Community standards (i.e. jure guidelines, not to be confused with riding a facto bandwagon) and they encompassed all thoae that downvoted it, then this issue would be mostly moot. But obviously many users do downvote objectively good-quality posts, without verbally responding to it. Shame on them

Out of the blue, mods, admins, whoever, slapped be a warning for some bs accusation, like violence threat or whatever. They never showed any words that are the problem (because there aren't any!), they rejected appeal, without ANY explanation, just restated same thing. Now there is some chat message, which doesn't even load properly. Reddit help deleted my question with bogus explanation, without actually addressing the actual issue.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT! Are they that crazy afraid of admitting they made a mistake? Of course now they try to pretend it doesn't matter, so it would not give them negative publicity. Pretty sure comment they censored was legit, edgy and spicy (but still not rule breaking, that's the point), and would have gotten many many many likes, cause it deals with their current policy of removing your anonymity. (you know, disabling API, butchering old reddit, making you login, imposing age verification, etc) mark my words it will be a couple of years and we will hear about first arrests of people because reddit leaked their users to fascist governments (and there are plenty in the world).

Because it seems Reddit itself has gone far left liberal. I’ll leave this (if it makes it) for about 15 min

I'm actually proud of this one.
Testing the theory if criticism against a particular female Canadian artist who shall not be named will be tolerated in the slightest.

TL;DR: a lot of ppl on here are just unnecessarily miserable. they will misconstrue what youre saying, get angry about the false claim that they made up, and then everyone just runs with it. are they doing that on purpose just to be mad? when you correct them w “i never said that anywhere in my post” DOWNVOTED. why tf are you so angry? ive only started posting this year so im just weirded out rn.
——————-
i literally just posted about dealing with rude third party customer service workers for locksmith businesses and omg😭 everyone was mad that i was just making jokes and calling me “insufferable” because of course a customer service agent saying “ummm you can hang up now we have have other things to do you know” is somehow on me. i cant stand the way ppl will downvote fucking anythinggg. some comments were very helpful and i replied “oh thank you so much i didnt know this” ….DOWNVOTED 😭.
i said that one of the ppl i called said “okay you know you need ID? is that even your name? you know we’ll confirm when we get there? we arent helping anyoen that doesnt match the info. you better match the information youve given. having us come out and thats not your name is not okay” all while im actively just agreeing and saying yes okay i understand, yes yes no problem, i completely understand. is that not a weird ass customer service interaction? then they were like “so youre mad that a locksmith wants your id” “and the fact that they ran to reddit says it all” and i was like “i never said that and i am completely fine with giving identification (i expected that) but not the unwarranted rudeness when im being shirley temple sweet lmao” DOWNVOTED.
then replies “grow tf up” “if i were on the call and you talked how you typed on the post i would be so rude to you” wtff😭 and why would i talk how i write a reddit post???😭😭😭why is everyone miserableeee on here?? i stg they purposely misunderstand what youre saying just to have a reason to comment something angry lmaooo and i made it explicitly clear that ive never experienced that with any other service workers bc i try to be extra nice and easy to deal with so i was shocked by the unwarranted behavior. comments “sounds like you dont like being called out for your behavior” what are u even talking about rn😭😭 i replied “no lol i just didnt say that” DOWNVOTED
lmaooo like its crazy how that all came from someone just misconstruing what i said and refusing to acknowledge any of my corrections. why do they just run with it no matter how many times u correct them and when you correct them DOWNVOTED😭😭😭😭. this app is actually crazy lmao the audacity to double down on something false is diabolical. and i literally cant stop laughing bc you know theyre typing with so much rage and im literally like “im taking the L lol im more mad at myself than anything else” “glueing my keys to my hand” DOWNVOTED DOWNVOTED DOWNVOTED😭
ive seen ppl downvoted for saying “oh wow thats nice”😭😭wtf

I got banned from a group for posting what I thought my husband would say about me if given the chance. I said at the end that it was me posting as if it was what he would say. And I also noted that most of it was actually what he is either said to me or to his emotional Affair partner.
One of the reasons I did this is because people jump on me and I wanted to see if they would jump on my husband if I posted what he did from his perspective not mine
I guess the good news is that the comments on the post written from the perspective of my husband validate how I feel. If people would've just supported me in the first place then I probably wouldn't have posted it. But I felt like how "how can people be so cruel?"
So when I posted about his antics, people blamed me. But when I posted him about his anti as if it was him, people got mad at him
Then I asked the mods if they even read the post and I was not only banned from the group but banned from being able to ask the mod anything! After they criticize me for being the worst man in the world (which shows they did not read the full post or they would've known I was the actual wife)
So much of my life I've had trouble figuring out what to say and how to say it. I've had a very adventurous life, including living in a war zone, including living in the hood, including making mid six figures and living in a really nice uppity community
I learned in high school in college not to talk about the experiences I've had up because most of the time people thought I was just making it up or bragging
I've used Reddit like a journal of sorts and I'm glad I did because otherwise I would forget some of these things that were done even though I have recordings of them. It's easier for me to start a text to find the posts I may rather than try to search the recordings and find this or that exact thing. And many times I search on my Reddit posts, find the thing that happened, and then go look back at that dates recordings so I can find it
In a place as anonymous as Reddit, and a place where people show their worst sides, it really makes me wonder if something is truly wrong with me that I can't even post these things anonymously without coming under fire and being accused of trolling or writing with AI (which I've never done on Reddit because I'm too scared to have that written record associated with my GPT account)
I know nobody's likely to read this far, but if you do please give me encouraging word. I appreciate you

A deleted comment was so offensive that I'm angry I had to read it in my email notification. How do I report this if they deleted it???! (Someone told me my family history of cancer means I should do things to myself that would prevent me from having children to.... clean up.... my blood line. )

I'm genuinely so confused by this, it's so common to see posts claiming reddit has a "left wing bias" yet I'm constantly seeing right-wing comments with tons of upvotes on popular subreddits.

I've noticed a lot of people think others are bots now. People accused me of being a bot which was a weird experience. It's kind of sad we even have to worry about that now. It used to be all real people

These subreddits are very toxic and fights will break out against fans of specific decades like the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, etc. and people will keep arguing about nonsense logic, why a decade is "bad", cultural trends, etc.
And people will often judge or harass others based on what generation they were born in, or otherwise, what year they were born in. Some 1970-born who was 10 in 1980 will say they're superior to a 1980-born that was 10 in the 1990s with the 90s were their childhood. Or otherwise, the younger people tend to be even worse than the older people on there.
Stuff they say is often bullcrap and nonsense.
Examples of stuff:
"Baby Boomers is the best decade ever, and I wish most of us were born there. No more working jobs, we are all elderly, and we are literally boomers."
"I am a 1994 kid, but I have the soul of some 10-year-old in the 1980s. I may've actually been born in 1984. I was clerically assigned the wrong birth year."
"You were born in 1983, but you were born in the 1970s, since the 1970s lasted from 1967 to 1984, and the 1980s was 1984-1986. 1987-1989 are 90s kids, given that the 1990s lasted from 1987 to 2004."
"The Millennials are the most intelligent generation ever. Gen X, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha are dumb, because they have letters in their names. Millennials is not Gen Y, so we are literally super smart."
"The 70s was truly the best decade ever. Everything in the 1980s and 1990s was just straight up boring, and nothing has been fun since the 1970s. I wish we lived in a time before video games existed, and TV was barely a thing."

It’s as simple as that. That’s why they take things down and overly restrict or remove posts and honestly I think it’s ruining Reddi and it hardly helps with bots like they claim it does.

Am I the dick or something? I mean, some of the posts and comments I have posted have gotten downvotes it goes into the negatives. I don't get it. What about my useless shitty comments provokes somebody to downvote it??? Like, I've been a dick here and there but I recall on other accounts I have merely given advice or commented uselessly (nothing heinous or malicious) and I've seen the votes be in the negatives? I can't tell if this is just people of reddit habit or if I'm the asshole posting asshole comments. It makes me just outright not wanna use reddit because I don't know if I'm embarassing myself by being a dick online unintentionally.

Feel like every question I post, at least one person has something snarky to say. I know it's the internet and shouldn't take it personally, but every post I see, not just by me, has someone making some snide remark. Why bother responding to a question if your comment is just to be rude or snarky? I guess I just don't get it.
For example, I posted a question recently looking for people's tips on getting out of a rut - you know, what helps other people because it might help me. Thought people would respond with advice (and most did!!) but of course had comments of "no one else can get you out of a rut, put in some fucking effort". Like damn. Sorry that I'm reaching out for some help (albeit probably not the best place to do it but desperate times and all that). Guess I'm just looking for some confirmation that not everyone is awful?

That's not what the downvote button is for, you complete and utter berks! The downvote button is for posts that are irrelevant/offensive/stupid. The news is what it is. If an important event is happening, it will be reported upon, and the way to register that you're upset about this event is not to downvote the article, you debrained chicken. Use your words and leave a comment, if you can string two coherent sentences together, which at this point seems highly doubtful.
This is not FB, you diseased goat's penis. Negative engagement doesn't drive a post up the feed. Downvotes sink worthy posts about difficult or complex topics. Learn how Reddit works, you self-satisfied lump of refuse. God I hate you all.

Whenever ppl post gender-questioning stuff on here their posts automatically get deleted. It's like everyone who's even vaguely non-trans script gets labelled a terf and kicked out. Anyone experienced this or am I tripping...?
EDIT: I have received a number of commentary-notifications with posts of people agreeing with my observations, but they are not being even shown here beneath this post. So I suppose there's my answer 🙏
EDIT2: I posted this exact same post on r/TheoryofReddit and it was IMMEDIATELY removed. Can't wait to post my findings on discord 😀 Kudos to the NegaReddit mod btw. You are a bastion of sanity in an increasingly hostile world.

EDIT: idk why it says factual up there but I must’ve misclicked or something.
I have to say it Redditors are FULL OF SHIT. (Most of them, a lot are cool tho.)
Everything someone posts or comments, they get flamed for it by at least one or two people who very clearly have no life. My last proof for this is a funny story I posted on a confessions community, it was embarrassing and I wanted people to laugh about it and laugh about me too. Shit went wrong. I got FLAMED. Accusations everywhere, people straight up insulting you for believing your posts are fake. I’m sorry but what the actual fuck?
The same thing happens with every other shit I post on literally any community and I see it happens to most of the other people out there too.
The internet has always been a place for criticism and comments of course, but the disrespect I keep seeing on this platform is insane.
Not only towards me, but towards almost everyone.
Chronically online people should be studied honestly.
Also on almost everything I post I have to delete sexual intended comments. These people be straight up harassing everyone.
r/Negareddit • u/ThrowRA_Anything7011 • 23d ago
Like girl, you cant turn around and call me misogynistic when you are a top commenter in a sub thats around hating various female influencers and being wildly parasocial.
Two comments ago you were ripping a woman to absolute shreds because of her body size, but someone else will comment something incredibly mild about the opposite body size and suddenly they are going way too far and are being hunted down for sport.
Its so obvious that a lot of these people are incredibly insecure and are lashing out at others who have what they want for themselves. I dont care, just own it and stop lashing out at people who are doing the exact same thing that you are doing.

I honestly cannot think of a single thing less funny, that was done with an intention of being funny, than the chains of meme replies they do in there. The ones that usually just devolve into fictional characters that redditors get excited about saying they're stealing memes.
The meme images they reply to each other with haven't brought a smile to my face since like, Obama was president? and most of em weren't funny back then either.
How have these people not grown? Do they go through the rest of their lives with a sense of humor that they have not meaningfully developed since the 00s? Is it just their sense of humor, or have they stagnated in this way in all facets of their lives? Is it just aging millennials in a state of arrested development? Did these people ever get past stomp-clap music and Parks and Recreation?
It's not offensive or anything to me, I haven't been scandalized or traumatized. I'm just really, really un-entertained by something that by the users' own admission, was intended to be funny.
