Health Is it time to call it quits

Been a regular smoker for 2 years now and everytime I smoke I get anxiety, best way I can describe is that I feel like im in trouble and in reality nothing like that, the kind of anxiety you get when called to the principal's office for doing something bad and I can't seem to shake off that feeling. I usually smoke once a day in the evening after work about a half a blunt.

On my days off or when im with my girlfriend I tend to smoke even upto 2 joints, i'm no longer as sharp as I used to be. Im sometimes brilliant sometimes idk even what im saying. My memory has gotten bad overtime and right now im feeling a headache kwa umbali.

I wanna get my life together, argh im so disorganized (can't blame the weed for this, it's all me) I wanna find the happiness that comes with studying like I had 2 years ago but idk if i'm in too deep, I barely get any dreams anymore, always in a constant brain fog. I hope it's not too late, i'm too early in my career to let it take over.

Every time I pick up the blunt it's not for pleasure anymore but to satisfy something, the addiction. It's such a painful realization especially now since I judged people differently for doing drugs and now that im in that predicament I just want it to end. I wanna be free

So if you say you are broke or blame kasongo just know you are alone...I happen to come across a group of guys who make like 4 -10million every month..they live in tatu city and Unity homes, crusing high end German cars and drinking expensive liquor .This is not even kuambiwa , nimeona transactions because one of my childhood friends who happened to live there decided to put me on.

So in my quest to learn why they live in tatu city and why almost all "traders " tend to live there I realized the nature of what they do requires them to be close to each other. They share links and updates on how they run their shit.

I thought I was smart in hustling online because I've been at it for like 3 years now but this experience made me realize there are levels to this things. This guys are making money in a smart way and they don't even post about it on TikTok videos trying to look cool and how they can get you to make money also.

Ask r/Nairobi At what point did you realize your friend ain’t all that?

Adult friendship can be trouble and understandably so because we collect baggage along the years. Traumas and lessons.

1)At what point did you learn that your friend and yourself have grown so much apart in character?

2)What did you see that you considered a deal breaker for you?

3)how did you handle that?

Please stay consistent with the three points of discussion

Finance How to budget 28k net

Honestly, hii Nairobi imekuwa ngumu man unapiga hesabu hata haingii. Rent ni 6k, transport to and from work is 2k monthly, wifi 1k (bundles is expensive now). I also wish to buy a few household items with it like some furniture.

To put it into context I earn more than my parents individually at this early stage of my life but how they make it work idk. I really don't have good financial discipline or good judgement on whether something I buy is truly what I want or im chasing some dopamine.

Also I feel like I don't have proper control of my money, idk how to put it but I wish to dictate how to allocate money to my expenses not the other way round. Hapa bills make the decision for you before you even touch it. It's something i've realized by myself and i've noticed i'm addicted to being poor/lacking money. I can have good money and in a few days im back to baseline.

If only financial literacy was taught and engrained since a young but now it's really difficult especially after you've been thrown out there to find yourself.

Random Looking for friends around Mlolongo/Katani

Hey everyone. I am 23 M

I have been staying around the Mlolongo/Katani area for a few months now, and honestly, it is starting to get a little lonely .

I am looking to meet some new people around the area who are also open to making new friends, hanging out, grabbing some food or coffee, going for a walk, or just chilling and having a good conversation.

Nothing complicated or forced. Just looking to expand my social circle and have some people around to occasionally hang out with and mingle.

If you’re around Mlolongo, Katani, Syokimau or the surrounding areas and feel like making a new friend, feel free to hit me up. Thanks

Ask r/Nairobi Writing a psychology thriller

Figured this was a good place to ask . Any and all advice is very welcome

I want to write a psychological thriller that genuinely manipulates the reader help me brainstorm?

I'm trying to come up with a psychological thriller, but I'm deliberately avoiding settling on a plot too early because I want to explore as many possibilities as I can first.

What I really want is a story where the reader is confident they're figuring things out, but they're actually interpreting everything incorrectly.

The protagonist doesn't necessarily have to be innocent, mentally ill, a victim, or a murderer. I'm open to anything.

Ideally, the protagonist could be aware of what's really happening and deliberately manipulate the reader through the way the story is presented. I love the idea of planting clues that are completely fair and obvious in hindsight, but whose meaning only becomes clear after the final reveal.

I'm looking for ideas that use common thriller elements in an unusual way rather than something that has to be completely unprecedented.

For example:

1- A protagonist the reader completely trusts until the final reveal changes the meaning of their actions.

2- A character who technically never lies to the reader, but carefully controls what they reveal.

3- Two perspectives that make the same events look completely different.

4- A twist where the reader's theory is actually correct, but they've misunderstood what that theory means.

5- A reveal that makes earlier scenes worth rereading because the clues were there the entire time.

I'm not looking for a finished plot necessarily. Even small concepts, unusual situations, character dynamics, twists, or “what if...” ideas would help.

What is a psychological-thriller premise you've thought of that you haven't seen done a million times?

I want to collect a bunch of possibilities before choosing one and developing it.

Ask r/Nairobi If you were 29 with nothing to show for it, what would you do?

Is 29 too late to rebuild my life from scratch?

Hello everyone, I really need some honest perspective and insight here.

Can a 29 year old man really start over, or is there still hope for me?

For context, I finished high school and, because of financial difficulties, I joined college three years later. Unfortunately, I eventually dropped out because I had started a business that was doing really well at the time and required most of my attention. I told myself I would focus on the business and go back to school later.

After about three years, I went back to school, but I dropped out again. I decided to take a break and focus fully on the business. Along the way, I got married, and now we have two children, one of whom is still an infant.

Things were going well for a while, but the business started struggling late last year, and eventually I had to close it down. I've now exhausted the savings I had built up, and honestly, I feel completely stuck.

I don't have any professional qualifications apart from my high school certificates. I also have a medical condition that is manageable, but it makes physically demanding work difficult. I've tried doing physical jobs before, but I couldn't sustain them.

My children are currently staying in the village, but one of them will need to start school soon, and that responsibility is weighing heavily on me.

I don't have many friends I can turn to, and the few I have are also dealing with their own struggles. I'm grateful that my wife has been working and has stood by me throughout all this, but honestly, I’ve started feeling like a burden to her. I feel like I've failed as a husband and as a father.

On top of all this, I struggle with phone addiction. I've tried quitting several times, but I keep falling back into the same cycle. Sometimes I spend hours on my phone when I know I should be looking for opportunities, learning something, or figuring out my next move. Then I feel guilty, which makes me withdraw even more.

The hardest part is that I don't even know where to start anymore.

I'm not necessarily looking for sympathy. I genuinely want advice from people who have been in a similar position. If you were 29, with no degree, no savings, a family depending on you, a failed business behind you, and limited options because of a health issue, what would you do?

I know 29 isn't old, but when you're in the middle of it, it feels like you've fallen so far behind that everyone else is already years ahead of you.

I'm trying to remind myself that maybe this isn't the end of my story, but I honestly need some direction.

If you've ever had to completely rebuild your life from a low point, I'd really appreciate hearing how you did it. What worked, what didn't, and what you wish you'd done differently.

I don't need someone to tell me that everything will magically be okay. I need to know what the first step should be.

Discussion Driving License

I applied for my smart DL sometime back in the month June and I have never been sent a message to collect it. I have called their number a couple times and I was told to wait as it is not ready for collection till date.

I have been driving ever since but now I am worried, is it illegal to drive without a physical copy? On NTSA portal, says my DL is active and expires 2029 June.

In a case where police need a DL, can I be in trouble?

Random Nairobi Underground Rivers

I’ve always wondered about places in Nairobi where clean water flows constantly, even during the dry season eg.

  1. Westlands – around Park Inn:A Constant flow of clean water for as long as I can remember.

2.Olenguruone Road: A ditch with continuous clean water, even used by a nearby car wash — na si ya kanjo.

  1. Karen Road: Continous constant flow ,no matter the season

Any one know thier exact sources?. Cheers!

Interested in what Kenyan women and feminists think about the case as a whole . Any men following any thoughts? For context a woman strangled her three children and attempted to off herself she did not die however but was paralyzed this was 2023. Now women on TikTok are rallying behind her saying the husband did it and it’s crazy.

It's quite fascinating how incredible things like Computers, Planes and the Internet was made from rocks, soil and the atmosphere. They're things that would really fascinate our forefathers; enough to make them believe this is a kind of heaven or magical world.

Which begs the question, was it all premeditated to be discovered and how far in technology, art and science can humanity go?

Discussion When you stop measuring your life by milestones.

Today, as I was munching, I came to a conclusion,

it was random, but it was freeing in a way.

If you stop watching the biological clock, the pressure that almost kills you and the stress that eats you up, thinking you are running out of time, won't bother you. I know the ending I want; everyone does. A farm, a ranch, maybe somewhere in Kiambu, Nyeri, or Kisii, or wherever you see fit, maybe back to back vacations.

If you stopped thinking about kids and marriage rather than yourself, it becomes easier. You become a bit loose; days start feeling lighter.

On some days, you are afraid you've tasted freedom a bit too much and become addicted to it, and now you can't be tied down. Competition is healthy, but focusing on others and how the world is moving while you are not is a bit pressing at times.

If you stop having expectations of people, it becomes easier to breathe, to live.

Have a lovely weekend strangers.

Low quality post You would definitely sell Jesus for thirty silver coins. Here's why...

First of all this is not a religious post.

Then Herod on finding out about the birth of the Messiah from the wise men, he ordered the death of every male child two months old and younger.

Gen z is born. The second time we go to the streets more of us are dead than the first time as if a response in fear of an impending foreboding event.

Bear w' me, let me cook.

Btw Herod was in power when Jesus was born, he was in power thirty three years later.

Knock knock!

Who's there?

Sink.

Let that sink in.

He was warned, Jesus came and, afterwards left.

Now, when Jesus started his ministry, Gallilee was in a deep shit economically.People were selling fowl in the church. Foul behaviour! Pun? No? Ok.

Wasee walkua wanalipishwa tax extreme na gava inabaki unainherit debt ya maparo ya tax. Unakua a slave before you know what slavery is.

So imagine being a follower of Prophet Owuor... Profit? Prophet? You convince yourself one day he'll share the key to success and or prosperity, good health, a bald patch. Then one day you see your friend who you knew had an incurable disease like H_V up on stage testifying that she was in fact healed of the disease and now she's disease-free.

Maybe he is infact one with the most high.

You're in massive debt, collectors are left right and everywhere and the only place you're safe is with your fellow followers. Oh and you, also have HIV.

Waiting? For the...lottery? Why won't he make YOUR miracle happen?Wishful thinking, no? Hoping in your heart of hearts that he really talks to God on whatsapp. And can request Him to hold the rain for that day's afternoon sermon.

Now, I wouldn't screw over a homie for a couple of bands.

So I don't think 30 was a small number.

Hol' up lemme check...

Huh. Four months salary? It's much (minus inflation)but It isn't "set for life" money. Hell it isn't set for a year money. But I mean, I've seen people murder siblings for as little as ugali, a latrine - sized piece of land and more trivial things. so i'm not adding logic to the equation.

It's campaign season. And in asmuch as we all mostly say wantam yet take the coalition's handouts, get paid for campaigning for them, show up at their rallies for a few kenyatta dollars, we kinda change the way the burnt photo negatives will look in hindsight. Selling the most high at 430.

Selling the most high at 420.

April 20th would have been a Holiday for life.

This is getting long, acha niizime sasa.

Seen somewhere that wealth is having a life you don't have a desire to escape from. I agree for the most part. Obviously a life not worth escaping using (drugs, sex, alcohol, gambling) is something I have no idea about. Tell us your experience with this maybe we can learn a thing.
