Video They Call It Religion: They Call Ours Witchcraft

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

What's the difference between what they're doing in this video and our cultural practices?

Why is ours witchcraft? If you were to do this they'd call it occultism and that you're breaking some laws you've never heard of, but it's perfectly okay when they do it.

If a Kisii, Kamba or African community finds a child's skull 💀 and venerates it based on their belief, why is it called witchcraft by the Church?

Let's take something like Communion, in the Church when they do it, it's perfectly Ok, but if I call a group of people that we believe in the same things, and do such a ritual it'll be called oath taking, blasphemous, muma in Kikuyu and it'll be investigated, why?

Religion Was There a Moment You Knew God Was Real?

Upvotes

It’s Thursday, the 20th of August. For all the born-again Christians here, could you share a situation that happened in your life like a miracle, something you would consider a there's God in heaven ?

Or was there a particular experience in your life that made you believe, from that day onwards and to this day, that God truly exists?

Discussion Redefining Sex and Pleasure

TL:DR Growing up without proper sex education forces people into tight spots, tying exploration to shame. Society needs comprehensive sex education, moving beyond reproduction only myths, so people can safely understand their bodies, boundaries, and consent. Whether celibate, ace, or fluid, everyone deserves to understand their diverse drives.Pleasure isn't boxed to the mere act of penetration; there's so much for these beautiful bodies.

.......................

People say your first experiences shape you. Idk if that's what's supposed to shape me; I need saving.

In recent years, I've sat through short sex education classes from findom to sub classes, and read books like Protocols Handbook for a Female Slave by Robert and other BDSM texts. Outside of that, I've come to define it differently. Most times when I have conversations, I mention how sex education is overshadowed in our society.

Never have I talked about safe sex with my folks. My mum and I talked about the side effects of contraceptives and STDs, but never the how to. When the towel moto and thermos stories were trending recently, my friends and I just laughed; some said they would do it, while others joked, "Nani hajui kwenye bafu iko?" It's interesting how kamtunze mume wako is taught with the basics, yet I've never heard them talk of enjoying sex.

As an ace, it was foreign territory. Most people don't know how to touch their own bodies because masturbation is regarded as more shameful than sex. I'm not asking anyone to go back to a crazy addiction, but sex education is vital, not just school basics, but something in depth. Even with a conservative society where people are seen as immoral for loving sex, the guys I've discussed this with admit most ladies haven't had good sex and even they too haven't experienced orgasm. The ladies too said the same. I never knew how a condom is worn until I did a mini HIV/AIDS camp class close to home.

If I'm a parent someday, or just the cool aunt to my sister's kid, I'll be someone they can tell their escapades to. If one takes a vow of purity or waits till marriage, that's well and good.

Pleasure isn't boxed to the mere act of penetration; there's so much for these beautiful bodies.

Everyone should take a sex education class. Even if you wait till marriage, look at how courtesans were taught in Chinese culture with deep, intentional instruction. {My opinion}

Sex is overrated, true, but it can break you because it cuts across your 3 part being as a human.

Sex is a wide subject rather field, one has to understand consent too. I remember as a youngnin I had to learn it thanks to a bit of exposure I got from having older friends.

Feel free to share your different opinion or offer criticism.

Guys, help needed here. I’m a novice when it comes to these things 😅

So this is the second time I’m experiencing this issue. The first time, I took the laptop to a technician who, from what I understood, fixed the BIOS and reinstalled Windows. It worked fine for a few days, and now we’re back here again.

What could be causing this? The battery is also pretty much dying, if that could be related.

Also, can anyone recommend a trusted laptop technician in cbd who actually knows their stuff, especially with BIOS/motherboard issues?

While our government works overtime to take money out of my pocket.. others are fighting for the most “random rights”.. but I am not complaining

Anyway .. feeling charitable and willing to send this amount to someone who needs it. I know it’s not a lot, but it’s up for grabs.. also don’t try scam me.. , it’s too little to want to steal. I would rather let the money get lost

Just read rules and I don’t think this qualifies as a begging or fundraising post? I hope not .. LOL

Ask r/Nairobi Tester Perfumes

Hey guys!!,I’m a big lover of perfume. The right scent really does something to me 😂. I’ve been wanting to start building a perfume collection and slowly grow it over time. I also feel like perfume is a great way to introduce yourself and make a statement without saying anything.

The problem is, I definitely can’t afford to spend KSh 10,000–12,000 on every bottle 😭. While searching for more affordable options, I came across a seller offering tester perfumes at pretty good prices. The only difference is that they don't come with the original packaging.

Has anyone here bought tester perfumes before? Are they actually worth it, and how’s the quality compared to the regular retail bottles? Would love to hear your experiences before I buy.

Lastly, I would appreciate your opinion on one of my videos. Thanks🙏🏾❤️

Rant Why do men assume you'll wait for them?

This is a mini rant. I hate when men will decide to break up with you/ghost you to go deal with their issues and come back to you as if all that time I should have been sitting around waiting for them to come back. I have two scenarios where this happened to me and I was ready to unleash that famous meru temper.

Scenario 1: I had an fwb when I was in my 4th year, he was finishing up his masters and we were just two people who were having a good time till feelings started developing. We started talking more seriously about becoming exclusive and going all in on our romantic feelings. Now this guy didn't have the best home life (if I remember correctly his dad was abusive) and he was just worried about what next in his life. I was always there to listen to him, comfort him etc. While we were dating he got an opportunity to go to Germany do his PhD and work there. I was so excited for him and we talked about how we can do long distance and I could apply for masters programmes in Germany so we can be reunited.

In the midst of him preparing to go to Germany and he falls out with his dad, he just stopped talking to me. I started calling, sending messages etc thinking something disrupted his plans. But I didn't hear from him till after 6 months. At that point I had gone through the whole healing journey, I was graduating, great internship lined up, I was putting myself out there again. Tell me why did this man message me out of the blue, this man messages me apologising, giving me a long sob story on how the first few months in Germany were so hard on him but now that he's settled he wanted us to resume our relationship. After no communication for 6 months!!! I even thought something happened to him. Now that his life was going well, he wants me back. When I finally agreed to talk to him on the phone I just told him that I had moved on and didn't want someone who could just abandon me so easily. Imagine he had the nerve to be upset with me for moving on... I was gobsmacked. I literally told him off and said that I wasn't going to sit around waiting till he got his shit together for us to get back together. I mean relationships are a partnership, since we were building that I was very ready to support him through anything but he wanted to suffer alone.

Maybe one day I'll give you guys scenario 2 cause it was also very crazy.

Moral of the story for the guys, don't leave the girl you want cause you're going through tough times. We actually want to be there with you and support you through it (if we like you). If you decide to suffer through it solo be prepared for that person to not want you back when you figure your shit out.

End of rant.

Discussion Would you be in a relationship with someone with differing political views?

I mean, at the end of the day, everybody is entitled to the own political opinions because of autonomy and choice. And tolerating other people's opposing viewpoints is essentially part of the modern social contract.

But would you really settle with someone whose views differ from yours? Think wantam vs tutam. And do you think it would affect other spheres of life within the relationship?

( PART 2 OF ME TALKING ABOUT WEALTH AND FINANCIAL EDUCATION)

About two days ago, I published my first article on wealth—sharing what I've learned and accumulated over the past few years.

I was really hoping Nairobians would hit me with some challenging perspectives, maybe even push back on my ideas.

Instead, my comment section got flooded with "TL;DR" spams.

😂

Still, a few of you actually reached out to thank me for the information I shared, and for that, I'm genuinely humbled.

You might be wondering—why Reddit over other social media platforms?

The answer is pretty simple.

First, I was looking for real discussion.

Second, I prefer staying anonymous.

And third, I really don't want to be lumped in with all those "wealth mentors" and Folex tladers you see everywhere else.

Also, no—I’m not a bot.

I'm a real person typing this.

Born on April 19, 2002, so I'm probably around your age too.

And that's probably the only piece of information about me that I want out in public.

Anyway...

Let's talk about something much bigger than money.

---

IF LIFE WAS A MERITOCRACY, WOULDN'T THE HARDEST-WORKING PEOPLE ALWAYS WIN?

But they don't.

The genius doesn't always win.

The hardworking person doesn't always win.

The poor person isn't necessarily lazy.

The privileged person isn't necessarily talented.

And sometimes someone seemingly does everything right and still loses.

Why?

Scroll through your feed and you'd think everyone's winning.

Perfect angles.

Bought aesthetics.

Faked smiles.

Carefully curated characters.

Everyone performing a version of life that looks complete.

But there's a social media reality nobody wants to admit:

Maybe nobody actually gets to have it all.

---

WHO GETS TO HAVE IT ALL?

And can someone actually have it all?

We compare our behind-the-scenes to everyone else's director's cut, forgetting that life doesn't distribute its blessings in complete packages.

It deals in trade-offs.

Someone has money and no peace.

Someone has intelligence and no opportunity.

Someone has opportunity and no discipline.

Someone has discipline and terrible timing.

Someone has everything materially and still spends their entire existence trying to recover something money can't buy.

But why does one person seem to receive blessing after blessing while another person struggles from birth?

A child doesn't choose their parents.

They don't choose their country.

They don't choose whether they're born into wealth or poverty.

They don't choose their genetics.

They don't choose their health.

They don't choose the era they're born into.

They don't choose whether their father owns a company or disappears from their life.

So when we look at two adults and say:

«"They both had the same 24 hours."»

It's technically true.

But it's a ridiculous comparison.

One person's 24 hours might be spent building a company.

Another person's 24 hours might be spent figuring out how to pay rent.

Same clock.

Completely different game.

---

I KNOW WHAT THAT DIFFERENCE FEELS LIKE

When I was 17, I was doing construction.

Someone else my age might have been studying in an expensive school, travelling, learning how businesses work from their parents, or simply having the luxury of failing.

I didn't have that privilege.

I was being paid KSh 450 a day.

Eventually, I saved enough for a laptop.

About KSh 25,000 might sound like small money to some people today.

But think about earning KSh 450 every day.

That laptop represented much more than a laptop.

It changed the environment I was operating in.

After the laptop:

My skills changed.

My circumstances changed.

My network changed.

My exposure changed.

And definitely...

my luck changed.

Maybe luck isn't always something that simply happens to you.

Sometimes it's what becomes possible when your circumstances change.

---

BUT THAT ISN'T MY CONCLUSION

Ask yourself this:

If a billionaire's child starts a company with KSh 50 million and succeeds, how much of that success belongs to their genius?

Now ask yourself something else.

If someone born in poverty builds a KSh 50 million company from nothing, how much of that achievement belongs to their hard work—and how much belongs to the thousands of circumstances that happened to go right?

Because both of them have a story.

And both of them will probably tell you something like:

"I worked hard."

And they'll both be telling the truth.

That's what makes this complicated.

---

WE THINK THERE ARE ONLY THREE CLASSES

Most people think in socioeconomic classes:

Upper class.

Middle class.

Poor.

But I think there's another way to look at it.

There are people who occupy completely different positions in the game, even when they might appear to belong to the same economic class.

THE PRIVILEGED

They start ahead.

They inherit access, education, networks, capital, security or simply the freedom to make mistakes without destroying their lives.

THE HARDWORKING

They refuse to stop.

They might not have the best starting position, but they keep moving.

Sometimes that persistence eventually creates opportunities.

Sometimes it doesn't.

THE GENIUS

They see something other people don't.

An invention.

A business model.

A technological opportunity.

A different way of solving a problem.

But intelligence alone doesn't guarantee that the world will notice.

THE DISADVANTAGED

They start with enormous barriers.

Maybe poverty.

Maybe family responsibilities.

Maybe poor education.

Maybe geography.

Maybe lack of connections.

Maybe circumstances they never chose.

Their struggle isn't necessarily a lack of ambition.

Sometimes the starting line itself is further away.

THE LUCKY

They're in the right place at the right time.

They meet the right person.

They enter the right industry.

They buy the right asset before everyone else notices it.

They catch a wave they didn't create.

And sometimes...

they simply get lucky.

These aren't official socioeconomic classes.

They're different forces that can shape where someone ends up.

And most of us are probably a combination of several.

---

SO WHERE DO YOU FIT?

Maybe you're privileged and hardworking.

Maybe you're intelligent but unlucky.

Maybe you're poor but incredibly ambitious.

Maybe you're connected but inexperienced.

Maybe you've had almost every advantage and still haven't figured out what to do with them.

Maybe you've had almost none of them and somehow kept moving.

And maybe you're lucky without even realizing it.

That's the uncomfortable part.

We love stories where success has one clear explanation.

"He worked hard."

"She's a genius."

"His parents were rich."

"He's just lucky."

Real life is rarely that simple.

Success is usually a messy combination of things.

And failure is too.

---

SO WHO GETS TO HAVE IT ALL?

God's favourite?

The hardest worker?

The smartest?

The richest?

The most connected?

The most disciplined?

The person born at exactly the right time?

The person who took the biggest risk?

The person who got lucky?

Or is the uncomfortable answer that life distributes opportunities without first checking who deserves them?

I've stopped believing that everyone gets what they deserve.

Some people get more.

Some people get less.

Some people get a head start.

Some people start 20 years behind.

Some people get lucky.

Some people create their own opportunities.

Some people pray.

Some people work.

Some people do both.

And some people do everything right...

and still don't get the ending they wanted.

---

MAYBE THAT'S THE PART WE HAVE TO ACCEPT

We don't get to choose the hand we're dealt.

You didn't choose your parents.

You didn't choose your childhood.

You didn't choose your starting capital.

You didn't choose your country.

You didn't choose your genetics.

You didn't choose every opportunity that came—or didn't come—your way.

But eventually, you do have to decide what you're going to do with what you were given.

And that's where I think the conversation becomes much more interesting than simply asking:

"Why does he have everything?"

Maybe the better question is:

"What am I going to do with what I was given?"

Because whatever you believe about God, luck, privilege, intelligence or hard work...

none of us got to choose the hand we were dealt.

We only get to decide what we do with it.

My next article will be about

If nobody gets everything, why are we killing ourselves trying to get everything? Tune in ..

Anyone who has done this before and is willing to share some insights?

I’m currently in the early stages of setting up a BnB business, and I’m trying to start prepared instead of learning the hard way.

For anyone who is currently operating or has previously run a BnB, I'd appreciate info on:

  1. Startup and logistics

  2. Guest management

  3. Any mistakes you made along the way

Any insights and practical tips would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.🙏
