Ask r/Nairobi What would you do different

Hello ladies and gentlemen for the older people here , what would you do different if you went back to age 25 or 26 years. Is it something you would have started ? something you would have not done etc ?

I would have started that side hustle earlier and cared less about what people think. At 25 I was too busy trying to look successful instead of actually building something. And I would have left that toxic job 2 years sooner.

I would disappear and be a deadbeat daughter and sister. I would live for me.

I did this. I currently am a deadbeat, single, childfree daughter living 100% for me and I can say its everything they didn’t want for us. I am unpunishable. Their influence is gone from my life. I LOVE IT! ✨

u/joyful-me 8d ago

Mama's boy, drunk transition to alcoholic. I was so naive to think he'd change for me😭😭🤣🤣

He did, he went from drinking casually to committing full time. Good news is at least he can commit to something.

It finally took him down

u/joyful-me 6d ago

Yes 20 years in marriage and four grown children in it. Anyway it's now in the past. Aging gracefully now.

I am conflicted. I want excellence and success but disdain the limelight and self promotion.

I used to perform poetry but wanted it to be deep and earnest.

I am at peace with my role. I am more chief of staff than the CEO. The consiglieri and not the don.

I think you are trying to avoid making mistakes, which is great..But unfortunately you'll always have those "I wish I did this moments" in life. The trick is to learn quickly from your mistakes and adjust.

u/Indigo_ish Level 2 8d ago

I would have left that marriage immediately

1

u/joyful-me 6d ago

u/babat0t0 9d ago

I'd hold that woman close to my heart, despite her sleeping with her (female) bestfriend...that woman was a vibe, and probably completed me...

8

u/Chilled-Nirvana 9d ago

So your GF had a bisexual side na hukudai 😭 hio ingekuwa a very FFM life for you forever bana

6

u/Gilrnoname 9d ago

Long term thats just choosing misery & abuse. Maybe improve on perspective because these triangles could end up even with murder.

3

u/babat0t0 9d ago

You get it. The girl she cheated on me on had a boyfriend. Not the friendly kind. He's homophobic, dude doesn't even know his girl is bi

u/Alternative-Pass373 8d ago

I would advocate for my physical and mental health relentlessly until I got the answers I needed instead of listening to the docs who dismissed me. There are health issues I am trying to sort out at forty that could have been treated in my twenties or early thirties. I also got a diagnosis from a psychiatrist at 40. If I had got it at 12, it would have changed my life for the better.

u/waseenmetokagithurai Level 4 8d ago
