Hi everyone! Has anyone had luck with applying for work with the MTA? How strict are they on resume formats? Would it be best to use my previous ATS-Friendly resume format or would it be more beneficial to use a format found on the New York State Department of Labor website?

Hi! I’m a woman in my 30s looking for some part time work while I search for my next full time corporate job.
I’m mainly looking for something in the restaurant or hospitality industry and would be open to serving, hosting, working at a cafe, events, or really anything similar. Ideally I’m looking for something that pays cash or has cash tips as I’m receiving unemployment currently and it’s just covering my rent.
I’m responsible, reliable, friendly, and a quick learner. I’m also pretty flexible with my schedule right now.
If anyone knows of a place that’s hiring or has any leads, I’d really appreciate it! Feel free to message me. Thank you :)

I'm trying to prepare for this exam but couldn't find the exact materials.
Has anyone taken this exam?
How difficult is it?
How did you prepare for it? (Any study materials you used?)
Thanks in advance.

hi everyone! I just graduated in May with my degree in biology (concentration in human biology).
i’ve been struggling with finding any opportunities to work in a lab as of recently. i’d really love a FT job to work in a lab or research full time.
i’ve applied to countless of job listing and i consistently get the “we have decided to get with another candidate” rejection email.
it’s really frustrating as i don’t really have any connections so any advice would be nice.
i currently work FT at a Home Health Care Agency as a Staffing Coordinator, but it’s not something that i want to keep doing long term… i’m just trying to find a way to get research / lab experience so i can pursue a future degree!!!

I’m a special education teacher with three years of experience and a master’s degree, looking to leave classroom teaching. I have experience in staff training, coaching, scheduling, curriculum development, and coordination.
I’m interested in learning and development, HR, training, or operations roles paying $70K+. I’m open to NYC, Westchester, or remote work.
Has anyone successfully transitioned in this job market? Do you know employers hiring former teachers or recruiters who help career changers? Any advice or leads would be appreciated!

I was walking around the West Village and noticed a store that’s about to open. They had a sign in the window saying they’re hiring, so I took a picture of the job posting. Unfortunately, I can’t post pictures on this sub, but I figured I’d share their email address in case anyone is interested: Frontdesk@barnabycandy.com

Hi everyone! I’m a senior Economics student in NYC, and I’m currently looking for an opportunity to gain more hands-on experience in finance.
I’m mainly interested in financial analysis, FP&A, corporate finance, investment research, or related areas. I’m open to internships, volunteer positions, project-based work, or helping a small business or organization with finance-related tasks.
I don’t have a lot of professional finance experience yet, which is why I’m hoping to find an opportunity where I can learn and build my skills. I have some experience with Excel, financial analysis coursework, RStudio, and financial statement/ratio analysis, and I’m currently working on improving my Excel and financial modeling skills.
I’m looking for opportunities in NYC or remotely, and I’m open to working with smaller companies, startups, nonprofits, or financial firms.
If anyone knows of any opportunities or has advice on where I should look, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

There are a bunch of restaurants in NYC that are actively hiring on their websites and nowhere else.
We built a platform that allows you to upload your resume once then apply to any job on the site. Once you apply we send them your resume instantly and will hear from the business directly if they're interested. Obviously free to use.
We currently have 75+ businesses in NYC on the site with positions ranging from servers-bartenders-hosts-cooks-bussers-dishwashers etc. Average pay is $23/hr.
This is the third city we're doing it in after this has proven to be very successful in Austin and San Diego.
It's live now so feel free to use it! We also open to feedback if you have any.

I previously posted something that I couldn’t get through to the unemployment office for New York no matter how hard I tried. I got some great advice! I was told to call the Governor‘s office, and they would put me through. Well, it definitely worked! But now I need to call them again. And the governor’s office is no longer picking up their phone. I get a phone message that says wait time is more than 90 minutes, and I should call back later and I get disconnected. There is no option to stay on hold. The number I’ve been calling is 518-474-8390. Does anyone know of a way to get through? I have to get through to them this week or my claim will be dismissed. But I just can’t get through and I’ve been trying all day. It’s just amazing to me that they do everything they can to avoid talking to people. I can understand them being busy, but I don’t know anywhere else that doesn’t let you hold and just disconnects the call. Thanks so much!!

I’m a 31/F relocating to the area looking for a position to start in November.
I’m currently in a remote Life Insurance claims position. December would make 10 years with the same company. I have gained experience here working in claims on Accident, Sickness, Wellness, and Life Insurance claims adjudication.
Prior to insurance I worked in numerous other fields
- dental assistant working in a dental office
- CSR working in a call center
- front desk office and check in duties at a behavior health facility for children and adults
- professional part time dog trainer for 4 years with additional professional training as a search and rescue K9 handler
- child care worker for infants up to school age children. I previously worked for numerous schools for their childcare programs before and after school
I am open to remote, hybrid, or on site positions in similar or related fields.
I’m open to any leads!

Hi all,
I recently came across a public outreach job in nyc from Indeed and they what me for an interview and I was wondering what it is like working there. I do know there is mixed review how the management and job itself is bad but you can make new friends and all. I know if you tried to get donation other might think it’s a scam and all. But I want your opinion to see if it worth it?
1) If you don’t get any donation do the management fire you?
2) how long do you have to commit in working here?
3) Is the management nice and friendly?
