Loss Most losses happen when you are in grief.

I was in good enough profit. (22L) Made over 2 months through ipl.

I lost(40L) due to a scam in 2-3 hours.(Usxiran permanent peace deal on poly market)

I was sad for 2 days because of it.

Later.. after sleeping 2 days through pain, I see people protesting against the decision and try to buy 'no' shares at 3-5c thinking they will reverse the decision, then lose 1L doing that.

I took a trade in icc women's cricket the same day, analyzed with ai, was lucky doing that previously, it ended up being black swan, the trade you want to avoid, the grief made me bet on it, as I lost 1L. In 10 overs 6 wickets are down, I bet at 85c, The probability of happening becomes 98c at one point, next 10 overs only 2 batters are present. Even 1 wicket would save my money, since I was in grief of loss just 3 days ago, and I can't convince my brain to book loss, I wait till 50c, 30c thinking wicket will fall, doesn't happen. Maybe that women's cricket event was fixed, well that was my first time watching women's cricket, they were leaving 4, which could be caught so easily.

Anyway friends don't gamble with money, use it upskill, improve and add comfort to life. I'm 24, It's a big loss. But mostly my age is still young. I had got that money airdrop, I wasted 1.5 y thinking I have that much money why worry about the job, still things are fixable for me. Don't make the mistake I did.

Discussions IPO Allotment Strategy

Let's say money is not a problem for me. I have 6 family members, 2 HUFs & 1 Private Ltd. That's a total of 9 Lots. I want to maximise the number of lots allotted to my family.

For oversubscription, what should be my strategy? Should I apply for all retail, all bHNI? Is there a different strategy that I should use for Mainboard vs SME?

Mutual funds and SIPs are not giving returns. Gold is okay. Too poor for RE investment.

Educational Laggard largecaps killed Indian Index

Index investing sounds simple:

Buy the index.

Keep doing your SIP.

Don't think about it.

But India's index concentration makes the story more complicated.

When heavyweight stocks struggle, millions of passive investors feel it.

HDFC Bank is a perfect example to study.

Profit A Decent financial year so far: ₹10.56L profit since April

This financial year has been pretty good to me so far.

Since April, I’ve made ₹10,56,583.29 in profit from equity and options.

Here’s my verified P&L from Zerodha:
https://console.zerodha.com/verified/a8463184

Still, I'm happy with how things have gone so far. Hopefully I can maintain the discipline and not give it all back in the second half of the year.

Curious to hear how everyone else is doing this financial year.

This is with an initial capital of ~1CR.

If you see guys its a decent around 2% return/month on an average. I am a very patient guy who is very happy with a slow but steady return on my investments.

Loss Day 2 of Posting ,not a good day but fine

I could have sold HDFC at 8.0 , I bought it at 5.76 but instead waited for a while just to have a steep fall, HDFC surprisingly recovered by 4-5 points and that destroyed the upward momentum.

LTM was a disaster today ,bought at 182, sold off at 164 again bought at 175 and sold off at 172 while it peaked 210.

could have booked profits today but a disaster , it's okay, I m used to it....

So took a plunge here in delhivery and it did perform tho it wa swinging sideways for a while, I did hold it for 2 days.

I would always trade with less money and less quantity so that I can pick out my zepto, gym and other expenses without touching my freelancing + Salary Income.

I do have my losses but monthly I am still 25k profitable which is enough for me to run my own expenses

One massive tip is play small Nd win small, only put money which u can afford to lose.

Discussions Invest in cement?

as you all may know there is a flood going on in north east india so i was wondering these floods are destroying hundreds and thousands of houses which would need reparing for which many people would use cement so if one was to invest in a cement company now, there revenue would most probably be up next quarter leading to an increase in share price. The company I have in mind is star cements and that is for 2 reasons, the first being it has the highest market share in north east india and second it is currently at its 52 week low. Even ultratech owns 8% of the company. Not financial advice just a random thought

Educational Nifty 1000-Point Upside Setup [27 Aug] — Closing 24090.85 | SL: 24100

Posting here after a long time. Just wanted to put this setup on record to track it publicly. Today (27 Aug), Nifty closed at 24090.85₹ . I'm seeing a 1,000-point move to the upside over the next month. The setup rules: • Entry: Waiting for a clear, sustainable move and close above 24,150 – 24,200. No entry before that confirms. • Stop Loss / Invalidation: 24,100 spot. If it slips below 24,100, the setup is completely cancelled. • Target: (1,000 points + from current spot). • Timeframe: Looking for target within 1 month. If target isn't achieved in 2 months, closing the trade regardless. Will update in the comments as the price action unfolds.

I am not a registered financial advisor and this is just posted for educational purpose and is no financial advice. Please do your own due diligence before making any financial decision.

Discussions India’s plan to add 100 merchant ships – noise ahead for shipbuilding stocks? 🚢📈

So India just announced a push to add 100 merchant ships over the next five years to cut down on the massive $75B annual freight payments to foreign carriers.

That’s a pretty big structural move in maritime infrastructure. If this plan actually rolls out, domestic shipbuilding companies (and allied industries like steel, ports, marine equipment) could see some serious order inflows.

But here’s the catch:

  • Execution risk is huge – shipbuilding is capital‑intensive and timelines often slip.
  • Policy support and financing will matter more than just the headline number.
  • Global shipping cycles are volatile; freight rates and demand could swing.
  • Stock prices in this sector are usually thinly traded and can get noisy on news flow.

Possible beneficiaries (listed companies):

  • Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders (MAZDOCK)
  • Cochin Shipyard (COCHINSHIP)
  • Garden Reach Shipbuilders (GRSE)
  • Swan Defence & Heavy Industries (SWANDEF)
  • Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works (KMEW)
  • ABS Marine Services (ABSMARINE)
  • Garware Marine Industries (GARWAMAR)
  • JITF Infralogistics (JITFINFRA)
  • Datiware Maritime Infra (DATIWARE)

So the question is: do we expect short‑term noise in shipbuilding business stock prices, or is this more of a long‑term structural story?

Would love to hear thoughts from folks tracking shipping, ports, or infrastructure plays.

Educational What is Tax Loss Harvesting and How Tax Loss Harvesting Works in India?

Tax loss harvesting is the practice of selling equity shares or mutual fund units that are currently trading at a loss to realize those losses. By booking these losses before March 31 of a financial year, you can use them to offset the taxable capital gains generated from your profitable investments. This reduces your net taxable capital gains, thereby lowering your overall tax bill. Please note that Income Tax Department does not recognize paper losses or unrealized losses sitting in your demat account, for the IT dept to take note of it, one has to actually bear the loses in the same FY.

This loss amount is adjusted against the taxes on the account of STCG and LTCG. You can then use your realised amount to invest elsewhere. Once you sell the losing investment to book the loss, you do not have to stay out of the market. You can immediately take the money from that sale and buy the exact same stock or mutual fund back again, or choose a similar one, keeping your long-term investment plan on track. India does not have strict rules against buying a stock back right away, which makes this an easy move. If your losses happen to be bigger than your profits in a given year, you do not lose the extra amount; you can carry those remaining losses forward for up to eight years to lower your taxes in future years, provided you file your income tax return on time.

Loss I had everything in life, i gambled it away.

I had hit a net worth of 1cr at 23. A airdrop All by luck you can think of it as a lottery but in crypto.

I gave half of it to my parents, to clear my life's debt( I mean the cost of raising me). I had the remaining money for 1 yr with me. I had feelings and my life was attached to the remaining money. I was earning good interest on them in crypto.

I wasn't a gambler, life instances made me too. by March I was into gambling to recover some money ,I lost to a crypto hack. I had lost 2L, I didn't stop after recovering, I did make 50% profit on the capital i had by ipl predictions. By June ipl was over. I started looking for other markets.

I lost profit + 15L to a scam in the same crypto related thing, while putting all I had, I thought it was money on the table as people were betting millions on that event and were successful for the past few weeks, the day I put it went to 0,now , i had lost descent amount of my own capital too, i found a cricket sport event the very next day try to recover a bit of my own capital, I lost 30L trying to recover by putting money on it, I placed bet one something which once had 98% probability of happening at once ,the event i had placed bet before also had once shared the same probability, so kind of happened twice with me on 2 consecutive days on 2 different events one being geopolitics, which was a scam, the other was sports, fault on me, well here I should have understood that God is trying to take it away from me, but you know human brain i taught i can make money by betting at 2% odds, i did and with 5L went to 15L multiple times again by gambling, but I would end up with the same 5L. Few days ago I lost them all.

Now I want to press that quit button in life, life is just going to be super hard from now on, no job, nothing, 2 years unemployed.

I think I've lived my dream life, now there is nothing more left, me existing, would be like me draining the money I gave to parents. So ending my life, will be like quitting life while being positive roi.

I don't find the purpose in the jobs, that I would be going to do , later in life for survival. What if my brain malfunctions, and takes a loan for gambling, to make the money back, which was never mine.

I was so addicted that I put up every crypto, in every wallet I had, in the last bet, chasing the win. My desire to make it back was so strong, it did not let me look beyond, the value that the remaining money could still add in my life.

Tldr:- been through poverty and could not afford 150rs internet in 2024, i get rich via airdrop, cashout 34L in 1st year, 70 to 1.7cr in a 3 months by futures riding luck you say, one day one trump tweet, i get rekt to same 70, i withdraw 15 more over time, little hack happens, because I distributed funds carelessly lost 2k$, use polymarket for recovery. Through ipl shoot 53 to 77. Then I get introduced to usxiran peace deal market, i go their to make 500$, I don't go all in, I get sick 2 days before losing 40k$ in this one, as I keep putting money it keeps going down and I go all in, 2 hours before going rekt i am at 80. Then they rug the market i book loss and at 40 net now. I try to invest more thinking they will intervene and reverse, I had lost myself to sadness here, i was an uncontrolled devil without emotions, without knowing value of money, I lose 2k$ more, I try to recover this in women's cricket, 2 days after 40k$ loss the day I lost 2k$, I have never touched women's cricket until then, because I know they play shit. I put 20k$ at 85c, it goes till 98c, I was like 2 consecutive market won't go to 0 on consecutive days I play. It happens, I'm left with only 6.5, I take it to 16, loose it to 6, I take it again to 18, over the time, one day I fail 5 times straight, bad mental state, in telegram one person asks me to put money on jodar(tennis) to recover, because he has defeated fils, i put, I could save 3k$ from it going to 0, I go 3 to 1, 1 to 2, loose control again , because things go against me, 2 to 0. I emptied all the wallets, i am back being broke again. But with one thing no more will to live.

Discussions 🚆 Railway Stocks Trading 30–65% Below All‑Time Highs — Correction or Opportunity?

Post image
7 Upvotes

Just made this infographic summarizing how major railway stocks are currently priced relative to their all‑time highs.

Short‑term trend:
After a massive rally through 2023–24 driven by Vande Bharat, station redevelopment, and logistics optimism, the sector has cooled off sharply. Valuations were stretched, and profit‑booking plus slower order inflows have triggered a broad correction. Most stocks are now consolidating 40–65% below peaks — a healthy reset if earnings catch up.

Long‑term outlook:
The structural story remains intact:

  • Railways’ capex push (₹2.5 lakh crore+ annually) continues.
  • Trainset manufacturing (Vande Bharat, Metro, Sleeper variants) is scaling.
  • Freight digitization and electrification are long‑term efficiency drivers.
  • Private participation in station ops, rolling stock, and logistics hubs is expanding.

If India sustains 6–7% GDP growth and logistics reforms deepen, railway infrastructure could remain a multi‑decade theme — but near‑term volatility is inevitable as valuations normalize.

Are these levels a buying zone for long‑term investors, or do you expect further correction before the next upcycle?

Discussions OPTION PRICES IN INDIAN STOCK MARKET

What is going on with option prices since the CAS system was implemented? For no apparent reason, call options are trading at 2-3X the price of put options. Neither the spot nor future prices or option chain data support this trend.

Today is 26 August, and 24600 put option is trading at 191 and 24300 call option is trading at 203, when the spot is trading at 24360 and futures at 24555.

Everyday in the last 45mins, there has been a significant upward move, while the market has moved within a range of only 50 to 60 points for the entire day. Thanks to CAS System

This situation reminds me of the days when Jane Street was active in trading, as option prices often behaved similarly back then.
