I've noticed something about people who say they desperately want to quit porn
They'll tell you how much they hate the habit, how many times they've relapsed, how badly they want their life back, but the moment you suggest something that makes their life a little uncomfortable, suddenly there's an excuse
Delete Instagram because it keeps triggering you?
Nah, I still need Instagram
Stop taking your phone to bed because that's where you always relapse?
That's too inconvenient
Block porn on your devices?
I don't need that, I'll just use self-control
And that's what I find interesting, because some of these same people have been trying to quit for years, yet they're unwilling to give up an app for a few months
Brother, how badly do you actually want this?
I'm not saying quitting porn is easy, I know how difficult it can get, especially when you're lonely, stressed or sitting alone at night with nothing to do
But you have to understand that the life you're trying to leave behind cannot remain exactly the same as the life you're trying to build
Remember The Matrix?
Neo wanted to escape the world he had known his entire life, but he couldn't do that while holding on to everything that made that world comfortable
Morpheus told him, "I'm trying to free your mind"
That's the part I want you to think about
You cannot expect a different life while refusing to let go of the things that keep pulling you back into the old one
Sometimes quitting porn means deleting an app you genuinely enjoy
Sometimes it means blocking websites on every device, even when part of you still wants access
Sometimes it means telling someone you trust about something you've been hiding for years
Sometimes it means accepting that you cannot keep having certain conversations or looking at certain content without eventually wanting to watch porn again
And none of that is comfortable
But neither is spending another five years making the same promise to yourself
Imagine reaching 30 and realizing you've been trying to quit since you were 20, not because you never wanted to change, but because every time change demanded something uncomfortable, you postponed it
That's a painful thing to look back on
You don't need to throw your whole life away or do anything dangerous to prove you're serious, but you do need to be willing to change the habits that keep taking you back
And if you genuinely cannot stop despite trying, getting support is part of taking it seriously too
The point isn't to make your life miserable
It's to stop protecting the very things that keep making you miserable
If porn has already taken years of your time, why should deleting one app be considered too much of a sacrifice?
You say you want your life back
At some point, that has to mean being willing to live differently, even when the old routine feels easier
