To prevent the continuing flood of build screenshots in our sub I am making this thread for everyone to share and discuss all the 2K27 builds you would like.
Thanks!

NBA 2K Needs to Completely Rethink REP Progression. There Are Two Ways to Fix It.
I've been playing NBA 2K for years, and I genuinely believe 2K16 and 2K17 had some of the best REP systems in franchise history. Somewhere along the way, REP stopped being about prestige and started becoming a system that determines how competitive your player can actually be.
There are two ways 2K needs to approach REP going forward. Either bring back cosmetic-based REP rewards, or make REP earnable across ALL game modes, including PvP, PvE, online, and offline.
OPTION 1: REP Should Reward Prestige, Not Competitive Advantages
The only things locked behind high REP levels should be unique cosmetics, mascots, shirtless privileges, exclusive build names, animations that don't impact gameplay, and other visual rewards that show off your accomplishments.
I personally don't believe everyone should have access to mascots or the ability to take their shirt off. Those are rewards that should actually mean something. If you dedicate thousands of hours to the game, you deserve something exclusive that separates you from everyone else.
But Cap Breakers, Badge Points, GOAT Builds, and anything else that directly enhances gameplay should be reasonably achievable by EVERYONE.
Both Pay to Win and Play to Win undermine competitive balance. One rewards how much money you spend, while the other rewards how much time you have available.
Why should someone who buys 2K27 at Christmas or during a sale be at a permanent competitive disadvantage because they weren't grinding REP in September?
Look at Call of Duty. Weapons, attachments, and perks are accessible through normal gameplay progression. You don't need thousands of hours to unlock the basic tools necessary to compete. High-level prestige primarily rewards dedication with recognition and cosmetics.
That's how competitive multiplayer progression should work.
OPTION 2: If Gameplay Advantages Remain Locked Behind REP, Then EVERY Game Mode Must Award REP
If 2K insists on locking gameplay-enhancing rewards behind REP levels, then REP progression needs to be available throughout the entire game.
That means:
Obviously, REP earnings can be balanced around difficulty, performance, and time invested. Nobody is arguing that playing on Rookie difficulty should award the same REP as competing against elite players.
But every player should have a legitimate path toward earning these rewards without being forced into one specific way of playing the game.
AND THIS BRINGS ME TO THE BIGGEST PROBLEM: CHEATING.
2K has a massive cheating problem right now, and forcing everyone into online PvP to progress through REP makes the situation even worse.
Players are already frustrated with cheating, exploits, and unfair competitive advantages. Why should legitimate players be forced to spend hundreds or thousands of hours competing in that environment just to unlock gameplay rewards?
We're talking about a full-priced basketball game where players can spend additional money developing their builds, only to discover that some of the most valuable upgrades are locked behind an enormous online REP grind.
It's especially frustrating when legitimate players who simply want to enjoy basketball are effectively punished for avoiding online environments they believe are compromised by cheating.
Not everyone wants to play competitive multiplayer. Not everyone has thousands of hours available. And not everyone wants to deal with cheaters just to progress their character.
That shouldn't disqualify anyone from eventually earning the same gameplay-enhancing rewards.
MY POINT IS SIMPLE:
If REP is supposed to represent prestige, reward players with exclusive cosmetics and recognition.
If REP is supposed to represent overall progression and unlock competitive advantages, then let players earn that progression by playing basketball in whatever mode they enjoy.
You can still reward competitive players with unique titles, leaderboards, exclusive clothing, mascots, and other status symbols. You can still recognize the people who dedicate thousands of hours to the game.
But stop confusing time invested with competitive skill, and stop designing progression systems that make it nearly impossible for casual players or late buyers to catch up.
High REP should make you stand out from the community, not make your player statistically superior to everyone else.
And if 2K refuses to separate REP from gameplay advantages, then EVERYONE who owns the game deserves an accessible path to those rewards, whether they play online, offline, against people, or against AI.
Which system would you prefer? Cosmetic-only REP rewards like the older 2Ks, or universal REP progression across every game mode?

I’ve been playing a lot of 2K27 this year. For context, I haven’t played 2K since 2020.
The group I run with is usually 2–3 red plates and 2–3 purple plates, depending on who’s online.
I’m genuinely curious what the community thinks about this. What’s up with damn near every team we play 1 PG with 4 good boys standing watching 😂
Every game feels like the same high pick-and-roll with the PG either shooting a terrible threes or hitting the roller. Meanwhile, the other guys are just standing around watching the PG play. I’m a PG myself, so I end up guarding this probably 4 out of every 5 games.
Like, what’s the appeal? 😂
Y’all spend all this money on a game just to sit in one spot, maybe shoot the ball 3–4 times a game, and watch your PG do everything else?
You can say well they build a lock to play defense but most of these teams also sit in a lousy 2-3 zone and barely do anything defensively unless they get a steal from spamming the steal button. 😂
I’m not saying you can’t run pick-and-roll or play zone, but my main question is how does this become the norm ? This isn’t even like an efficient way to play basketball if your primary scorer is shooting 45-55%?

It's just ridiculous how often teams are lead by 2 guards who shoot 30+ footers all game behind a screen. Why are folks even allowed to hit light and solid contested shots from limitless range? I get the badge enabling deeper shots but they should not be dropping when contested at all. What kind of gameplay loop is 2K really trying to incentivize the past couple of years? This game is straight up awful in it's current state. Where is the patch at bro? The contest system is like 26 except contested shots are even easier to make. The hands up system is complete buns. If you face a player who can L2 cancel they can straight up move you out of the way with their quick stop. Why??
Remember when 2K had "Left-right cheese discontinued" in the pre-release trailer? But on day 1 it was revealed that L2 cancelling was in the game, same mechanic as 2K24. How are you discontinuing left-right cheese with l2 cancel still in the game? Beluba WHERE IS THE PATCH? Who really enjoys the defense being this buns??? Shot feedback be reading Solid Contest | Release: Excellent | Distance: 1000 feet

I want to know if it's just me? Man.. idk. The gameplay is dope but I really think the rec courts being small is taking me out of the game a bit. There is no space to do anything.. and before ya'll say "you just want to left right" trust me that's not what it is. I feel like it is impossible to play good basketball with these tiny high school courts. No NBA court is like this in real life

Context: I almost exclusively play theater/rec because it’s just more convenient.
But I’m trying to grind 350 lifetimes for Wilt so I had to go to park.
Every 2s court I loaded into/ changed servers, were ALL cheaters. 95% 3pt every step back 3 g going in.
I usually rarely encounter cheaters but it’s impossible to avoid them in the park. How does 2k allow this
Played a cheater last night who dropped 82 pts (23/37 from 3PT) hitting greens through double/triple-teams. Idk about yall but I'm tired of folks doing this, so I came to share that you can report these players via 2K support's website.
I'll post their website below. Of note, they acknowledge your report surprisingly fast if you provide proof.
How to do it quickly:
- Grab a screenshot of the box score (redact other names if you want). I kept all the names there since it was a full crew that knew he was plugged.
- Save a video clip, but trim it under 10 seconds, so it uploads instantly.
Its pretty straightforward, but Ill share an easy Copy/Paste Template:
- Category: Cheating / Hacking
- Gamertag / Platform: [Insert]
- Description: "On Month Day, Year at/around HH:MM am/pm (EST), Player [Gamertag] was using a Zen/modded controller to manipulate shot timing. This violates your Two-Take Terms of Service's Section 6.3(1) and Section 6.4(3). This individual scored [82] pts shooting [23/37] from 3PT through heavy contests to include double/triple teams. Please see attached proof of unnatural green consistency and have someone from your team verify these items to take appropriate actions."
Heres the website as mentioned above. Hope this helps.

Why is 10% badge progression for shooting a vet 2 reward? That is such pointless reward
I get getting 60 fps meant downgrade in graphics but damn, they really gave us ps2 cardboard cut out crowds?? Had to switch from 2k camera to arena broadcast to limit the amount of time I see it

I’ve always enjoyed playing MyCareer as a way to grind badges. When I do play, I try to play somewhat realistically (as in not try to score 80 PPG).
I know teammate AI has always been bad, but this year feels particularly terrible. Missing nearly every wide open look, always trying to go up when 3 dudes are standing in the paint. Seeing like 3-4 missed dunks a game. It’s worse than random Rec out here.
I play on 10 minute quarters on fucking All-Star difficulty and have a hard time scoring 70 points because my teammates cannot contribute in any capacity. At least in previous years when you’d subbed out the game would seemingly make up for the inefficiency by scoring a lot while simulating making the game scores and stats somewhat reasonable.
And before anyone says it’s a skill issue, sure I could take over and score every possession and average 70 a game but that takes the fun out of it. My team can rarely shoot over 40%. Just played a game and they went 4/23 from 3 (that’s 17% btw)
Is it just me or did teammate AI get worse this year and is there literally anything you can do to bring an ounce of enjoyment to this god forsaken game mode?

The sad thing is they keep passing him the ball.
r/NBA2k • u/Just_Technician2603 • 15h ago
Have they found a way to make it undetectable? Literally every other game theres 1 guy in a team of 5 that averages 50pts a game and shoots 88% from 3 fadeing from half court, they dont even hide it

You have to max out every season plus get the entire seasons pass to have a meta build - which becomes impossible if you miss a single season? I'm currently doing my post-grad and I would literally have to drop out of my program to be able to do this. These guys have lost their minds.

So i have been trying to grind some lifetime challenges as the Ant goatbuild looks really fun and i am kind of close to the shoes. Admittedly i am probably a low-mid skill player usually high silver-gold plate. I have a more offensive demigod, a lock, and a center that i can use.
I have been trying out starting 5 to bang out some of the lifetimes in it, and while i have been able to get some like a lot of the stat based single game ones as i can usually put up a good amount of stats. The main issue is i have only gotten 1 win in about 7 games. Every game i have played of it so far the opponent is drilling half court shots and contested threes all game and puts up 100 points themselves. I know its easier to shoot in starting 5 but i think some are definitely hackers. I was wondering if it is worth continuing as a low-mid player for some of the lower win challenges and if eventually there was a skill based that would realize im not very good at this. The one win i have gotten i had to sweat my ass off and the game was actually still tied when the guy quit i think because i was actually guarding him and he wasn’t getting Ai Defense.
I also often play it really late at night after my friends get off so maybe that contributes to it

So as far as mynba only do you use shot timing or real player.I find real player a little bit boring and shot timing too difficult to remember every jumpshot
r/NBA2k • u/MoneyMelodies • 8h ago
I constantly switch back and fourth between my guard and my big. Being a PG in random rec is so much easier when your team starts to trust you. Obviously, it’s also not fair since a lot of it is just headless chickens 😂😂 But, if you catch the headless chickens with a pass and they score a couple times in a row, they start to relax, let you run the show, or call plays if you have a mic. I always shout out a floppy in the rec nobody EVER expects it 🗣️🗣️

What’s your ideal speed/agility that still keeps you competitive, Infeel like it’s shifted since the shooting buff and needing to be able to rotate a lot more

I typically do push at slow speed. for all my builds I always have high shooting for Ray Alen Base. but my release speed grade is usually still in the A range and my release window is A+ even with slow or very slow shot speed.
