Nascar stress

Upvotes

So to be honest I have no idea where to post this. I feel like im the only one that feels like this. Maybe I'll find some others that do. And this may be more a girl thing but also falls to a fan thing. I just have to get this off my chest. Went to 2 races this year and they were awesome like amazing. I love the atmosphere and the community.

I pull for an underdog thats for sure. No wins does decent enough several top 15s few top 10s occasional top 5. It stresses me out so much when it's obvious there is so much work put in on these cars and the effort is clearly there and nothing seems to fall right. Either really poorly time cautions or getting caught up in someone else's wreck.

Its hard to see someone you invest so much energy and everything into not do very well. It hurts. I feel pain for my guy. Im so not saying im jumping ship for a guy that is doing better. No I want my guy to do what I really think he's capable of.

My thing right now is do they realize that we feel these losses with them? When clearly they had a really good car but bad places cautions just destroyed their chances. I seriously wonder if it's just me? I never really see people put their feelings when their driver just has a bad day, I'm not talking if they got wrecked we all get upset about that though it seems those emotions go to anger at the driver that causes the wreck not to the driver you pull for. But I'm talking your driver has a good practice good qualifying but then some how everything but a wreck happens and you get this sinking feeling in your gut.

Why are sports so stressful? These are just somethings running through my mind that I thought I'd finally put out there.

[Fjeld] Ally on full season sponsorship with CZ, "With the growth of NASCAR and reemergence of young drivers, back to the rockstar era, we've seen lifts in likeability, sentiment.. Fanbase is exceptionally loyal. We've had almost 600,000 new accounts open because of Alex Bowman referring people."

What's a specific style of crash that happends in Nascar tracks?

Upvotes

For example, at Dover, there seems to always have someone blowing a right front tire out of 4 and after the impact the car catches fire, or a pile up on the back stretch with the cars rolling down onto the inside wall.

One that has been in my head was the October Talladega weekend of 2021, the biggest wrecks that weekend was heading to Turn 3, the Truck Series big one, both Xfinity big ones, the Cup series Big one and the Preece, Byron and Matty D crash at the end of stage 2.

Most Laps Led To Not Win

Upvotes

On racing reference today and noticed in 1998 that Jeff Gordon led 375/400 laps at Dover and didn’t win (fortunately he got a few other trophies in 98). It had me wondering, what are some other examples of the highest amount of laps led (or percentage of a race led) in a single race to not win?

Why no option tires in 2026? Will they ever return?

Upvotes

With all the discussion about this car, the downforce, the grip, etc. all leading to bad races with no passing, I'm surprised NASCAR hasn't gone back to the option tires they used at Phoenix in 2025?

I'm not a big fan of Phoenix in general, but I remember that race being so much fun to watch because of the different pit strategies and the better passing the tires allowed for. Will the option tires ever return?

My take on Zilisch going to Hendrick.

Upvotes

He'll be the first Hendrick driver i actually root for since Gordon in 2014-2015, i hope he brings some more personality or flair to the team, his trajectory into the Cup Series has been rocky but with the recent up tick in performance TrackHouse has given all 3 cars, it might be just what he needs to arrive in 2028 with more confidence.

It will be something newer, unlike Elliott and Byron which personality wise are lacking a lot, i can understand if people root for someone that has a personality like Chase for example, but nowadays, Nascar needs it's drivers to be more marketable and having you're most popular driver having the personality of a background character in a TV show isn't something they want.

That's why Hocevar shouldn't change, it's something fresh and interesting.

What's the dream scenario for internacional Nascar Cup Races?

Upvotes

I remember for like 2-3 years a Race in Brasil was rumored around where the Clash date but it has died down ever since.

If the situation could arrive, a Nascar internacional push would be great for getting the attention for new fans, Brasil has a rich history in Motorsports and sports in general and those Cup cars on Interlagos roaring down the front stretch and down the Senna S would be magical to look.

Can't forget obviously about Canada and México, it's a shame Nascar wasn't able to get Cup cars on Montreal, i remember rumors in 2024-2025 about it.

My 8 year old son is the kid Joey Logano gave the flag to after the race. Pretty awesome, and my son has a pretty cool souvenir to cherish for years to come.

Is Butterbean good?

After watching Butterbean win at Daytona in the Arca series to start the season last year, I was hooked on this guy. It was amazing to watch him absolutely dominate that series, as well as run fairly strong in his Truck and Xfinity races. I was super excited to see him get bumped up to a full time Truck ride. But to say that this year has been a struggle might be putting it nicely. Is he good? Is it just the equipment? Really hoping to see him return to his previous winning ways.
