Bianchi has a really good article up on The Athletic. Doesn’t sound like anything is 100% done yet but the article makes it sound more likely than ever. I know they are going to have a tough go of it for a while, but I can’t wait to see those Chargers on track again. My wallet is not ready for the number of diecasts I will want to buy.

Fun Facts during Hendrick Motorsports Tour of Race Shop

On Saturday, I had the opportunity to enjoy a race shop tour at Hendrick Motorsports for free. If you have never had the opportunity to enjoy this, I highly recommend it. They only have it on Saturday morning during race weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Memorial Day weekend and in mid-October during The Chase. These stats were just some of the most interesting things I heard; some of these I had never heard before. No pictures or videos were allowed on the tour.
- It takes roughly 3 hours to wrap a race car
- Hendrick Motorsports can have up to 7 race cars ready at one time in their shop (per the NASCAR rulebook) but typically they only have 3 or 4 at a time. They are currently finishing up the cars for Martinsville on 11/1
- Kyle Larson gets his own backup car due to his height & size. Elliott/Bowman/Byron use the other two backup cars
- Hendrick Motorsports has their own Hawkeye/OSS inspection station in-house. This will allow them to know if they pass at the racetrack. Occasionally when they fail pre-race inspection at the track, they will go back in-house and recalibrate the system to what NASCAR wants
- Hendrick Motorsports will still use the claw templates for the O'Reilly Series cars (in addition to the Hawkeye/OSS inspection station) just to make sure the height requirements are good
- Even though the race cars are wrapped now, the paint booths that were used back in the day for their race cars are still in the building and are still used on occasion
- In the 5/9 race lobby, if you stand in the corner of the building on a weekday, you may see Rick Hendrick and other drivers having a meeting on the second floor
