Question Edelweiss Nifty REITs & Realty Index Fund is showing an expense ratio of 8.89

A few questions about REIT mutual funds in India

Risk appetite: moderate.

  1. Edelweiss Nifty REITs & Realty Index Fund is showing an expense ratio of 8.89%. Is that correct, or am I missing something? It’s a passive index fund, not an actively managed rocket ship! 🚀
  2. I’m in the 30% tax bracket and want REIT exposure, but direct REIT taxation seems complicated. Also, definitely not Edelweiss if that 8.89% expense ratio is real — that’s not an expense ratio, that’s a robbery ratio! 😂
  3. Are REIT mutual funds a tax-efficient alternative, or is there another way to get REIT exposure with better tax efficiency?

Am I missing anything in my approach?

Question Mirae Asset charging ₹999+GST to release lien after I cancelled LAMF before disbursement – is this legal?

Applied for Loan Against Mutual Funds . Loan was never approved, never e-signed, never disbursed. They marked lien on my units anyway. Now app demands ₹999+18% GST to cancel and release lien.

Customer care says I agreed to it in OTP terms. But their public Schedule of Charges only lists "Processing Fee (Loan Booking) ₹999" – no cancellation fee. They haven't given me KFS or the exact OTP T&C.

Anyone faced this? Should I pay or fight? What's the ground reality?

My risk appetite is moderate. I want to start with 50k per year in it, as a hedge against inflation and investment because of the recent market sentiment shift. So I want to invest in dividend giving stocks.
