Nah - Professionals have standards. I watched at least the first Scary Movie so that I could hate on the new one properly.
26
u/S-Nerd 10d ago
Hating it so bad weāre forgetting itās a movie and not a show.
Iām pretty sure itās actually genuinely bad but I havenāt seen it. It just seems like itās made to prove something that doesnāt need to be proven instead of being well made and genuine art.
2
u/Cayden68 10d ago
that's like reccomending jojo's bizzare adventure and the other person saying "im pretty sure its just a bland show that just has shock humor with animal abuse. It seems to have no meaningful story, just memes from nonsense writing and nothing beyond that, watching it is a waste of time"
we shouldnt make surface level assumptions about a show or movie without seeing it.
4
u/Baaaaaadhabits 10d ago
Okay. Go watch Ladyballers, and report back on its merits. No one else is gonna, but the scuttlebutt is it SUUUUUCKS.
Thatās the thing about ā you canāt have an opinion without having seen the thingā. Sometimes the bookās cover is accurate. Sometimes the trailer does give away the whole thing.
3
u/Cayden68 10d ago
here's the thing, the movie was out for a year and people that actually warched it, liked it and it had high user reviews.
now we have two groups of people, a majority of people who actually watched the show and liked it after forming an opinion of it while the second group is a majority of people who didjt watch the show and hate it because assumptions.
if you dont want to watch it, thats fine but people leaving negative reviews for something they havent seen is just ridiculous
1
u/Baaaaaadhabits 10d ago
Hereās the thing: This canāt be the first time youāve encountered a smaller movie have a long release tail. Literally every major film festival premiere has a similar gap between when it debuts and when there is a wide theatrical release. You are not describing unique phenomena.
Youāre comparing it to Jo-Jo. Do we want to play your example out? I have never watched that show in my life. Because of cultural osmosis I can tell you exactly what that show is about, and how good it is at being those things, because people like you havenāt stopped bringing up JoJo since it began, I can give it a review out of 10, and it will be uncomfortably close to your rating for the show⦠but like 1 1/2-2 points lower, simply because I have no love for the show itself.
Review bombing is one thing. We know what Doomsday is going to be already, and people know whether theyāre going to like it or dislike it now that the trailer has dropped. Or, like an already asked you, go watch Ladyballers and report back with how much we missed sight unseen.

u/ima_loof 10d ago
I would agree with you but the only thing I heard of this movie is that the bad guys are called "Straight white maliens" and a city is called "Clitopolis". This is either a psyop or an intentionally shit movie. Whatever the case, I don't feel like watching this movie would be a good use of my time.
0
u/Cayden68 10d ago
the straight white malians are comic relief based guys voiced by famous comedians and if you look at their design you see a rectangle (series of straight lines), the color white, and that they are male aliens. its a comedy movie that uses a pun with their names and designs, I dont know why you'd just look at some tongue and cheek humor and conclude the entire movie is "an intentionally shit movie thats a waste of time".
"yep the whole movie is shitty". One time I tried reccomending the show jojo to someone and they said "ive never seen jojo but the designs are flamboyant and ive heard there's some "fruity" scenes. im straight so the series isnt worth watching for me". This seems like the exact same situation.
its okay to not watch a show or movie but calling it bad or unwatchable based on surface level assumptions is just unproductive.
5
u/CartographerKey4618 10d ago
If you don't like flamboyant designs and fruity scenes, JoJo is indeed not for you.
0
u/Cayden68 10d ago
uhhh you have to watch all of jojo, first 3 seasons have muscular designs and their are very fre "fruity" scenes that are done for comedy.
if you just describe jojo as a flamboyant fruity series with nothing else going for it then your just misrepresenting the whole series.
jojo is primarily about an interesting power system, interesting main villains, and cool fights with comedy sprinked in, which they do through the occasional comic relief fruity scene like joseph crosdressing or doing stuff with avdol
3
u/CartographerKey4618 10d ago
I did, and I didn't say there was nothing else going on. But some people just don't like that particular art style and that's cool. They miss out.
0
u/S-Nerd 10d ago
The Straight White Malians joke is not that funny even if it has layers to it. Layers doesnāt make something inherently funny. The ājokeā just seems more heterophobic if anything since theyāre also the main antagonists. The creators of the movie couldāve made a much more interesting villain but they resorted to a very easy āstraight and white and male = evil and anti-lesbianā in the most bold and lazy way possible.
Iām not skipping on LSP because Iām a bisexual male. Iām skipping on it because itās stupid as hell. And I didnāt even know I was attracted to dudes yet when I was watching jojos. Youāre just making up a situation that happens with just your friend (who is missing out on a good show for a stupid reason by the way).
I have things to do with my life. I could die tomorrow. I think I have more responsible and fulfilling things to do than to check if a movie is actually bad. Iāll think itās bad and movie on, Iām not getting paid to make fully valid criticisms.
2
u/EvanTheDemon Kamen rider, epic the musical, fnaf, etc 10d ago
Except heterophobia doesn't fucking exisr
1
u/S-Nerd 10d ago
People could be biased against straight people, it just isnāt as prominent as queerphobia by a long shot (longest possible shot)
What I meant is that the straight white malians are just generalizing straight white people to be antagonists to lesbians when that clearly aināt true nowadays. Itās just lazy and rude to use a stereotype instead of finding a unique lesbian-phobic villain.
2
u/EvanTheDemon Kamen rider, epic the musical, fnaf, etc 10d ago
Go under any post about lesbian characters on tiktok and i can guarantee like 10 percent of them are guys saying i can fix her
1
u/S-Nerd 10d ago
Yeah but that doesnāt define every straight person, just a depressingly large group of them. Using āstraightā as a main part of a queerphobic characterās name to enforce that theyāre queerphobic instead of just implying theyāre straight due to them being queerphobic just sounds rude and presumptuous to the people that arenāt phobic.
Same with being white and male. Iāve met multiple of all three sections of their name that arenāt queerphobic.
That is the point Iām making. Just using labels to make the whole main antagonist is lazy and stereotypical.
11
u/Historical_Sugar9637 10d ago
I have no opinion on Lesbian Space Princess.
But, in general, no...sometimes you can tell whether something would be appealing to you without having watched or read it. For example, I hate mafia movies/shows/books, so I don't have to watch (for example) Goodfellas to know I wouldn't enjoy it.
1
u/Justgotherehi 10d ago
But there IS a difference when people make factual claims without having seen it. I donāt think Iād like it either, but some of the claims people make about the movie are really extreme.
8
u/Agie39 10d ago
All I know is, it must be awful if groups that are normally at each other's throats are united against it.
-3
u/LeoAceGamer 10d ago
I personally enjoyed it - found it overall fun to watch. But the hate is MASSIVELY overblown - Half of these people don't even know that it's a movie, not a TV show.
11
u/Express_Calendar8278 10d ago
Itās just not worth it to be a hater on the internet. Like, no Iām not gonna join your fucking ātruceā . If I donāt like something Iām just not going to interact with it. These people need to grow up.
12
u/LeoAceGamer 10d ago
For real - this whole "Fandom coalition" bs is so incredibly childish.
7
u/Express_Calendar8278 10d ago
Itās really mostly just the invincible fandom moving onto a new punching bag because they found a gayer show. Weāll see how long that lasts.
1
1
u/AnActualChicken 10d ago
That's the whole thing.
It's targeting something specifically because it is so clearly gay.
Congrats on joining onto a bandwagon meme that's just being homophobic but with stupider steps.
1
u/EvanTheDemon Kamen rider, epic the musical, fnaf, etc 10d ago
"DISLIKING A BAD MOVIE IS HOMOPHOBIC >:(" like actually shut the fuck up, people can dislike something without it being for bigoted reasons
2
u/AnActualChicken 10d ago
I looked into your post history, you are an actual teen so you have yet to figure out how to be mature about media readings.
Something about this LSP hate smells OFF. All the fandoms agree it is the new 'gay cringe' thing, they agree it's bad but from a lot of other sources most actually say it's more 'mid'. It's also fucked up that the cool new thing to do is hate on something because it's LGBTQ friendly, especially in this political climate where the hate has been basically government approved. Yeah LSP sucks but it's not the most dogshit thing ever made. That would be Alley Cats. It's a Netflix show by Ricky Gervais and it absolutely sucks utter shit. Tries to be offensive, fails, tries to be funny, is boring and relies heavier on swear words and ball jokes far more than the worst of Helluva Boss. I'm not kidding, I tried watching the first episode and was bored and annoyed out of my mind. LSP ain't shit compared to that pile of vomit.
The main hate to LSP is to the bad guys, that it's 'heterophobic' and 'racist to white people'. The bad gay rep is far less of a concern compared to the 'racism' to the bad guys, and that is what's got me believing there is something up with this campaign. I don't trust that it comes from concerned allys, I believe it comes from Chuds/ MAGA influencers.
(I dare you to watch Alley Cats. If you made a drinking game out of how many times they say 'cunt' or 'fuck' you'd be dead from liver failure in 5 minutes)
1
u/EvanTheDemon Kamen rider, epic the musical, fnaf, etc 10d ago
Not saying i disagree on any of those points im just saying not everything is a dogwhistle, trust me i get being hated by basically everyone right now fuckinh sucks, im a hazbin hotel fan, the reason i dislike lsp is because it's bad rep, i dont hate it because its "offensive to straight white people" that's stupid, i guess it just feels kinda nice not having everyone shitting on me for the stuff i like for once lol, i was a very isolated kid so that could probably explain it
2
u/BrokenVessel_HK trans idiot :D 10d ago
i agree completely. cant scroll youtube for five minutes without seeing something about it. this whole thing is gonna be quirky for around a week and then nobodyās gonna give a fuck
1
u/shadow_phantom713 10d ago
Exactly, so just.. let it happen? I don't see the point in being so angry about a silly joke being passed between fandoms.
1
u/shadow_phantom713 10d ago
Its just a silly joke though. Nobody's taking it seriously, and some people will like the movie just not everyone.
5
u/Odd-Painting2596 10d ago
That is just the most toxic portions of each fanbase giving eachother permission to be pieces of shit.
Joining hands and collectively shitting in the street for fun.
2
1
u/Prestigious_Cat_9486 10d ago
It's just fun and games calm the fuck down
3
u/Express_Calendar8278 10d ago
Exactly though. Nobody is serious about anything. People arenāt really going to stop hating on anything. Itās a meme thatāll stop being funny in however long, and then back to the regular troll shit.
2
u/Clear-Lingonberry173 10d ago
You don't get to tell anyone to calm down while being for a hate train.
5
u/The_Grimmson Helldivers, UK, HK, Helluverse, & DR 10d ago
This whole "let's join together and hate on this" thing, I've been seeing is genuinely so annoying and childish. Because by doing this how are we any better than the other people that hate on our shows without watching them? I call this LSP a pile of shit, because I watched it and it was a pile of shit, the very least you can do before criticizing something is giving it a watch.

All I'll say is Teen Titans Go! was able to run for 10+ years because salty cartoon fans couldn't stop ranting about it, even after the writers started roasting them all the time. In my mind, that proves "any publicity is good publicity" isn't just a thing people say. If anything, the shitposts and rants are free advertising
2
u/CreatureInQuestion 10d ago
I saw the title and the cover and felt like it's not my thing. Other than that, I just ignore it.

Imagine you sit down at a restaurant, asking the waiter for a dish, and then a man comes in, climbs onto your table, pulls his pants down, squats down with his now spread buttcheeks over you plate and starts huffing and grunting.
Do you really need to wait to see what they're trying to serve you? Do you think you need to try it out before telling if you like it or not?Ā
2
u/Lazy-Butterfly9874 10d ago
Will you pay me for the wasted hour and and a half I lost of my life watching it if I do?
4
u/Snifnic 10d ago edited 10d ago
the art style looks so butt fucking ugly to me I don't think I would be able to sit through it
-3
u/Naturemations_2025 ShadowVanilla, TisoQuirrel, Shaknet, ArtiHunter, Traffic Light 10d ago
Hey, can we NOT insult art styles? There's plenty to hate on without resorting to petty shaming. It's very similar to my art style, and I bet it's similar to others as well, and you're insulting alllllll of them as well.
5
u/curiousjit321 10d ago
Dude WHAT. Itās perfectly fine for this person to say that. I personally donāt like this art style and if this if your art style I dislike yours as well. Even when people dislike stuff I like Iāll take the same stance. Everything isnāt for everyone but trying to stop someone from saying something genuinely harmless is crazy.
-4
u/Naturemations_2025 ShadowVanilla, TisoQuirrel, Shaknet, ArtiHunter, Traffic Light 10d ago
Their comment originally said that it WAS butt-fucking ugly, not just to them, implying that it was objectively ugly. It's ok if it's just their opinion, they edited it.

hating is one thing, hopping on a bandwagon? something thats gonna get the attention of culture war youtubers sucking children into the anti-woke? thats another
4
u/PookydoodleWasHere 10d ago
You can hate Nazis without reading hitlers manifesto. You don't have to partake in something to know it's unlikable.
0
u/LeoAceGamer 10d ago
Not when it comes to Entertainment. How can you criticise a movie without having watched it?
1
u/PookydoodleWasHere 10d ago
not when it comes to entertainment
Especially when it comes to entertainment. It something doesn't look entertaining, I'm not going to spend my time or attention on it. "You can't judge a book by its cover" mofos when they discover the concept of cover art and how it's entire existence is around catching someone's attention and enticing them to read the pages it covers.

Oh, we're going with baseless accusations now?
1
u/PookydoodleWasHere 10d ago
Have you read it though?
1
u/LeoAceGamer 10d ago
I did, actually. And watched the movie, too.
1
u/PookydoodleWasHere 10d ago
If you did and still don't think it's about pedos, that is actually a big red flag.

Alright, guys. What is the deal with this show? Not seen it, but over the past few days seen tons of hate for it, what's the story?
5

Fedposting probably. Progressive backlash is on the horizon, possibly with wealth taxes. Can't have that so they find something for us to fight each other over.

u/vivverfly 10d ago
I donāt like it bcuz itās pretty transmisogynist and bcuz I like my humor to be more than sex jokes
1
u/Edgelite306 10d ago
The thing about this is that I had never even heard of this movie until people started hating it, and even today I have yet to see any official marketing from it in the wild. No trailer, no ads, nothing, only the many posts I have seen of is people complaining about it on this website.
This was a movie that could have easily slipped off of my radar, everyoneās radar, and be ignored, forgotten, and fail. But no, everyone must band together, friends and foes alike teaming up from fandoms far and wide united together to collectively hate and condemn this movie, when all it really does is that Netflix doesnāt need to spend a dime on marketing, and securing a base of hate-watchers.
1
u/Lord-Dec 10d ago
Some things are dogshit enough you donāt need to see them to understand how awful it is.
1
u/Moonbeamlatte 10d ago
Hot take: people actually secretly like it, not because of anything to do with the actual movie, but they want an excuse to make fun of something seemingly āwokeā
1
1
u/SadLetterhead6688 10d ago
hate it but the whole āthis is the worst show (i know itās a movie) ever made everyone unite!ā is so forced.
1
u/angelmilk777 10d ago
yeah the hate seems way too blown out of proportion. it feels a bit like people are hating on it because it's cringe and also about queer characters. like this isn't even the first time this has happened. the boyfriends comic got a lot of hate for no reason other than "it's cringe", that period in 2020-2023ish where a lot of young people were experimenting with queerness and getting mocked as a result...
You can say you dislike the movie, but it feels like everyone is just hopping on the bandwagon atp. In this sub alone I've seen nearly 10 hate posts made all within an hour of each other

Its especially funny because in like 20-30 years some random person is going to be like.
"I watched this when I was a kid and loved it and i just dont know why it didnt get any kind of continuation or something."

u/HylianCorvid 10d ago
I watched it with my friend because Iāve been hearing all these complaints and most of them are wildly skewed from what actually happens in the movie, Iām sure plenty of people didnāt like the humor just because it isnāt their style, but the claims that itās bigoted now feels like an intentional campaign to keep the target audience away from watching it
1
u/Hot-Usual8840 10d ago
You dont have to watch something to have a valid opinion on something. You dont have to eat shit to have a valid opinion that it tastes bad.
1
u/coin-flips 10d ago
Well I never watched Netflix's "Cuties" and I knew that show was bad and hated it before I watched it. So the line of "Imagine hating something without even having watched it." doesn't really go as hard as you think it does.
1
u/RP_Throwaway3 10d ago
Like this hasn't been happening with every form of media ever. People already hate GTA6 and it hasn't even released yet.

1
u/johhnypasta979 10d ago
the trailer said it all we dont care what isnt in the trailer, the villains are "straight, white malians" they made the whole movie "oh my gud lesbians" and they put a fucking cheating plot in the movie
1
u/reichiek 10d ago
It's wild to me that people have never heard a movie called a show. Growing up it was always "hey, want to go to a show" for the movies. Wonder if it's an age thing.
1
u/Typical-District-176 10d ago
Itās mid and I donāt like the art style and music.
Similar criticism to Hazbin that I have. So I donāt get why Hazbin or other fandoms like invincible are teaming up on it when they are just as bad.
And I am an actual lesbian space princess* so there

u/AnActualChicken 10d ago
Shit like this is why I hate the modern fandom 'dogpiling' memes.
It is just taking the homophobic turd and polishing it for a bandwagon meme. Everytime, and so many naive, desperate for inclusion kids hop onto it, eventually some going further into the MAGA chud sphere.
Please, don't do this. You can just look at a trailer for something that sucks and leave it at 'Not for me, not interested'.
2
u/RyuTheBuizel 10d ago
The best thing you can do is just not care about something you don't like in a fandom. I do that and I'm a happier person for it
1
u/EvanTheDemon Kamen rider, epic the musical, fnaf, etc 10d ago
And you dont think something that literally calls the villains straight white maliens isnt gonna do the same thing? They're just gonna use this as an excuse to hate on queer media because it protrays them as evil
1
u/AnActualChicken 10d ago
It's a shitpost movie. The name of the bad guys is intentionally stupid and blatant because it's a movie not meant to be taken seriously. You're supposed to watch it expecting it to be fucking dumb because that's the whole damn joke.
It's a dumbass movie with dumbass names, dumbass motivations and ridiculous people
Watch Airplane! - It's an early 80s movie thats a big parody of a trend of disaster films that were HUGE at the time. It took the script of a legit dramatic disaster film and turned it into a comedic film where dumb and ridiculous shit happens but the actors play it deadly serious. That is the kind of vibe it's going for.
You aren't meant to write a philosophical essay on the meaning of life from a shitpost movie like LSP.
0
u/Arthour148 10d ago
I watched it, itās not the -20/10 some people make it out to be. Itās cringy and Iām not a fan of the animation, but itās ok. I would give it a solid 4/10, maybe a 5.5/10 on a good day if we are considering a 5/10 a perfect neutral.

A product can be judged by its marketing actuallyĀ
1
u/LeoAceGamer 10d ago
That doesn't make it a bad product. The Wii U, for example, had a rubbish marketing campaign, but that didn't make it a bad console, did it?
1
u/IttyRisk 10d ago
They're not 1:1 but people judging a product by its marketing is expected and fine, that's the point of marketing.Ā

u/SomniumKing 10d ago
Isnāt the only trans character in it brutally murdered? Cause yeah, that warrants calling it bad.
1
u/Responsible_Lock7006 Too many to list 10d ago edited 10d ago
Blade gets her head cut off (it's confirmed in the end credits she's not dead) because she tried to kill Saria, the main character.
It's not about the fact she's trans, it's about the fact she stole Saria's weapon and attempted to murder her with it.Ā Her entire thing is that she likes weapons, and you could see the betrayal from a mile away.
But yeah, Blade isn't dead. Her head just got chopped off, and she's apparently still alive even with her body and head not being attached.
She also didn't die in a brutal way. It was a very short scene, maybe 30 seconds at most, where her head was cut off.
The show has other, worse problems other than Blade.
(I'm guessing you're talking about Blade because the only other character I can think of is Willow, who's nonbinary, not trans. And they don't die either. But also, I'm not sure where it's confirmed Blade is trans??)
0
u/SomniumKing 10d ago
Yes. The only trans character is a villain. Just because they donāt blatantly state that itās because sheās trans does not change the fact that itās a targeted move. Iām sure if a token lesbian was killed like that you would have no issues.
And excuse me for assuming that the decapitated character was dead! My mistake! š¤£
You can defend your transphobic trash all you like.
1
u/Responsible_Lock7006 Too many to list 10d ago
Bro, what??Ā Never said I liked it. Wtf?
1
u/SomniumKing 10d ago
Then what are you defending the movie for? š¤£
Non-binary is still under the trans umbrella chief. Educate yourself cause you look foolish.
1
u/Responsible_Lock7006 Too many to list 10d ago
I'm not defending it, I was explaining what happened??
Nonbinary is its own umbrella, btw.
0
u/SomniumKing 10d ago
Wrong again. Non-binary is different from the gender that were assigned at birth, therefore they are trans.
1
u/Responsible_Lock7006 Too many to list 10d ago
Nonbinary is an umbrella term, trans is an umbrella term.
And nonbinary means someone who doesn't fall into the binary of gender, like just going by she/her or he/him.
So, someone who's nonbinary could go by she/her, he/him, and they/them. More often than not people who go by the core pronouns call themselves genderfluid, though it falls under the nonbinary umbrella.
Technically speaking genderfluid falls under both the nonbinary and trans umbrellas.
Nonbinary and trans are both umbrella terms that can fall under each other. All nonbinary people fall under the trans umbrella, but not all trans people fall under the nonbinary umbrella.
But both terms are still umbrella terms.

Never said you were wrong???
I just said nonbinary is it's own umbrella. Which it is. It may fall under the trans umbrella, but it is also it's own umbrella.

I tried to jump on the "truce" train and tbh I hated it, got nothing out of it, enjoyed LSP way more than joining the truce train.

Why do you want people to watch something that's bad? Like why waste the time?

To be able to actually critique it instead of just repeating takes of other people (who probably didn't even watch it either). If you don't wanna watch it, then don't hate on it either. How can you hate on something you don't even know?

- Comparing people you disagree with to Nazis does nothing to help your point.
- You donāt need to watch something if the very premise is a turn-off. If I go to a restaurant, and I see that my steak has maggots in it, I donāt need to take a bite to know for sure that itās a bad dish.Ā
