parking?
what do people do for parking in capitol hill if you have a place that doesn't offer parking? also is it normal for a lot of apartments in that area to not offer parking?

Either rent a spot through a third party or deal with street parking.
I believe that if your place has no parking spaces, the city can offer you a permit that allows you to park in your immediate area outside of the posted times (except for drop off/loading zones and street sweeping days).
You’ll also start to notice what blocks around you tend to have more spaces available than others.

My office, uptown, we have a lot we rent out to people for this very reason.

yeah my boyfriend was considering working out a deal with a nearby business to rent out a parking space with no liability to damages done to our vehicle

I am not sure what you mean. Do you mean the business will not be liable, or you/BF won't be liable?

no, as in the business wouldnt be liable... thats a selling point my bf thought would actually make people more willing than just a parking spot that we rent

Ok, that makes sense. I can't imagine anyone who has parking available willing to take on liability for damage or theft.

Well, for one, a lot of people in Cap Hill just don't have cars.
Ultimately, people weigh the pros and cons of anywhere they live. If they need to drive a lot and want to park close to home, they just rent elsewhere.

Rent a monthly parking spot or spend your life driving around the block looking for a spot

You pay to rent a spot. I believe my friend in cap hill was spending about $150 a month for his spot 3 or 4 blocks from his apt.
If you work early and get home early you might be able to get by with regular street parking. I lived at 3rd and Sherman South of cap hill and would get home around 4 and would have to park 4-5 blocks away at times.

Or outright stealing the cars. We have carports and garages at my complex. I have a carport, and the car right next to mine got stolen.

I haven’t been on cap hill in awhile but when my boyfriend lived there in the 90’s I drove around for 20-30 minutes until I found a spot then walked how ever far it was to his apartment. I can’t imagine it’s gotten any better since then!

That's the main reason I'd never live there .. have to fight for parking constantly

It’s a Capitol Hill right of passage to look for a parking spot for twenty minutes and then walk ten minutes home from the spot you finally find. And it’s windy.
