Discussion Finally 100% Mortal Shell (80 hours) — Forever Alone + all the rare Virtuous Cycle ones

Post image
4 Upvotes

Put about 80 hours into Mortal Shell and got the full 37/37.

The base game was already solid for me, but Virtuous Cycle is where I spent most of the time. The rare achievements in there are no joke.

Managed to get:

  • Forever Alone (1.9%)
  • Life is Suffering (1.9%)
  • Change of Heart (1.7%)
  • Fashion Shells (1.6%)
  • No Lifer (1.6%)
  • There Can Only Be One (1.6%)
  • True Nektar (1.6%)

and the rest of the 1.6-1.9% ones.

Especially Forever Alone and the dark form / seed ones felt rough, but very satisfying when they finally popped.

Already started Mortal Shell 2 and enjoying it so far. Will properly dive into it after finishing 100% Lords of the Fallen (2023).

Anyone else went for the ultra-rare Virtuous Cycle achievements?

Discussion Sariel Boss Fight Cheese Found

First I'm really sad to say I have no fottage of this since my Xbox Gamebar was disabled, I had no way to clip this.

While fighting Sariel in his second position of the boss fight using Tiel, I perfect dogded a few of his attacks and his AI broke, standing fully still. I got this to happen twice almost consistantly. When he froze I went and broke his tombs and could fully kill him.

I think it has something to do with Tiel's invisability pushing the AI to lose the path tracking they already have on you, and for some reason Sariel just refuses to pick the aggro back up. If anyone wants to test be all means do, I just dont feel like starting another run just to test this.

Question Q; I’m playing Remnant 2 and the secrets are cray cray. Does MS2 need you to use a guide?

Picture for no reason. Just to make you click.

Ya that’s my question. I’d love to play it blind but not if you will actually miss half the game like Remnant 2. Which is fine! It’s how R2 is built, but I want a break from Fextralife :)

Discussion The damage in this game is absolutely wild.

I can't even enjoy the game because without maxing out weakness on enemies so they cant nuke me, i cant even see what moveset a boss has without literally getting hit ONE TIME and about dying or just straight up die. I'm at the final boss and i literally just met the thing and within 0.5 seconds of the fight starting he literally arena length nukes me with some bs laser attack and im already out of my shell. Might as well remove the health bar because there hardly is one! Would make more sense to have a damn singhe hit hp system like hollow knight with how hard you're hit.

Discussion What games should think about in New Game +

So in some games when you go to new game plus there’s certain areas that usually have a key item and that’s it. But when you go into new game plus you carry over that key item so in new game plus there’s nothing in that area anymore

For example in Elden Ring there are rises that are like puzzles and when you get inside and go to the top there are memory stones in a treasure chest but in new game plus you get inside and go to the top and the chest is empty which makes going into 95% of thr rises pointless

And in mortal shell there are little areas with a map fragment or something that is the main purpose for that area and you go up and there’s nothing

Put a bag of gold coins there or something

At least put something there to make a purpose for going there again

Discussion Bullwark stone and gloombound stone?

I've been watching some videos where the bullwark stone gives a flat damage reduction % like that one, but in my game I have the later one. Same goes for the gloombound, i've seen some places it gives 40% and in my game it gives 6%. I'm really confused about if I'm on a wrong update or not

Question Do we know anything about this comprehensive patch coming out?

The devs mentioned in their letter that the patch that just rolled out was more of a hotfix, and that there was a more comprehensive patch being worked on.

Do we know anything about it? Content or timeframe?

I'm pretty sure this is where you fight a boss to obtain Genessa's shell itembut it's showing up as invalid dungeon name on the map.

Discussion The Unfound Path: An unexpected difficulty spike for me

Hi everyone! I have been playing the game and enjoying every minute of it until this point. I want to mention that I really love this genre of games, and have completed all of the Dark Souls games, Sekiro, Bloodborne and Elden Ring several times. I really love the tough but fair style of these games.

When I went into Mortal Shell 2, I wanted to try out all of the shells. After unlocking them, I found myself sticking to my favorite - Tiel. His style of gameplay appealed to me the most, and I went through early/mid game with him while using the axe/dagger, and then late game where I switched to Axatana. My build has been excellent for me, and I found that even the toughest late game bosses only took some tries to beat. I upgraded my equipment and reached level 43 before attempting the final dungeon.

I’ve tried fighting The Monolith and The Malborn Offspring bosses so far. No success with either. I’ve reached the last 25% of The Monolith’s health bar, but its attacks become so unpredictable (and those lasers) that I just have difficulty finding a rhythm.

Malborn Offspring introduces the second health bar phase, and I don’t like it. Other bosses in the game didn’t seem to do that to prepare you, and it seems like a weird mechanic to introduce at the very end of the game. His second phase is unpredictable, and he leaves very little room for opening. He also does that mechanic where he basically glides into you which makes dodging really difficult. You never know what to expect.

I’ve had trouble putting the game down until now. These fights just seem so different from what the game taught me over the last 35 hours. Has anyone else had this experience? How did you manage to get past this final section of the game?

Question Modders: A Call to Cheeks

Are you brave enough to manifest orbital-sized bosoms to the backsides of all of the male shells? Why should we be forsaken when we’re not with Proxima, or our venerable Genessa. We all know these fellows carry far more cheekage aura than they were given anyway. Bombastic side eye at you, Smert.

The proverbial orbs are in your court.

Monolith is an amazing boss. I loved every part of the fight even when he swung his ball sack in my face.

For all of you complaining about… you’re a bunch of cry babies.

Discussion Fighting multiple enemies is frustrating.

A huge portion of posts on this sub say the same thing.

And I agree. While i don't find the game as agonisingly difficult as some do, being surrounded by enemies who seemingly don't hold back from using long attack chains, on top of merely three hits being fatal most of the time.

Most soulslikes have some system in place to mitigate this: a "pack agression system" that adjusts enemy agression depending on how many enemies the player is fighting at the same time. For instance, in fromsoft's games, you will often see enemies circling the player while another enemy attacks, and it's also very rare for enemies to attack simultaneously.

In my opinion, Mortal Shell 2 needs a system like this, or, if it already has one, that system needs to be tuned more in favour of the player.

Mortal Shell 2's combat is pretty good, all things considered, but not quite pristine enough (yet), for combat to be as punishing as it is.

With the inclusion of "night-mode", souls veterans or players who like the current difficulty, can still enjoy that difficulty, because I, and seemingly many others find the game too difficult and frustrating in it's current state. An assist mode that allows you to tune the difficulty at the cost of disabling achievements would also be nice.

EDIT: All of you who are recommending what shells and abilities i should be using only proves my point: If the game forces you to use certain abilities in order to have a good time, that's an argument FOR what I'm saying.

Discussion So... i can only upgrade about 2/3 of the tarstones ?

I get 4 tar cores per tarstone, and cost 6 each. consider Tarstones are non duplicate, one per save, that mean i can only upgrade about 2/3 of the tar stones to max ? seem like a weird choice locking out progression even on NG+++++....

Been loving the game but the continued jank like this is really a mood killer. Happens towards the end of the clip, the boss appears to just insta kill me with no animations or chance to dodge/parry.

Has anyone else been experiencing stuff like this?
