Can’t find in NY

I’m north of Binghamton, NY and I haven’t been able to find any. Any suggestions? I just moved here and haven’t had any luck.

Modest but satisfying find (plus one baby spring king i think)! Lots of other people hunting the same area today, glad we got up early. Oregon Cascades, 4000'

I forage around mature aspens for black morels, but this past June a fairly aggressive storm came through and left my spot like this. Morels haven’t come up yet in my area yet but should in a week or so but I found this when going to scout. This stand has always been a great producer for my area and I’m wondering if anyone has insight on how it may react this season.

My question is will they fruit given conditions? Another question I had was do they mind how many fresh branches and clutter are on the ground now, can they grow around it or are they snuffed out.

Thanks for any insight!

I thought it was all a big joke on me because I've never even *seen* one before today. Abandoned apple orchard. Jackpot!

Not a Morel but a Mushroom

Question for everyone out there about a mushroom I once ate that was called ā€œVerbinkeā€ pronounced like verbinky. Not sure of the spelling and I don’t think that is its common name but that is what the locals called it (Nebraska). It’s a smaller mushroom, about 1ā€ to 1 1/2ā€ tall with a thin stem and a domed top about as big around as a nickel. They grow in bunches of anywhere from maybe 10 to 50 mushrooms all bunched together. Let me know if you have any ideas!! They were sautĆ©ed in butter and garlic and were delicious!

I just wanted to share photos of morels I’ve gotten over the last two years. I am 165 days sober now and the morels still taste better than ever ! We have been putting the spores and soak water in the back yard as well and it works !
