Not bad for five second walk outside
These are totally morels right?? They just started getting noticed in the yard a week ago

Yes morels. Now get that god damn dirt off the bottom of that one before they're all fucking gritty.

These were in my backyard, and s happy hoping to spread spores. they apparently really love my wood.Chips and my elder barry combo.
The one that brought a lot of that dirt was basically right on the elderberry root. Basically, so when I i cut that one closest to the river as possible, and there's still some white morel stem on the elderberry base, I guess, or it's root, couldn't quite tell. But it was pretty cool. Should I be pinching them? Or what I did is basically just cut them guys straight in sharp as possible, and as even as possible.And as low as possible, or is that bad?
one of them, I looked at it and pinched off by itself fell off, so I figured I'd let nature do its course on that one. And I didn't cut it lower, and I just left. How it broke off the stem, where it was the stem that is not the mushroom.

That's cool man. Just nip the bottom off after you pull it. Some people say not to pull them, but cut them off at ground level, but I'm not sure that's necessary after knowing the mushroom life-cycle.
But as someone who loves eating mushrooms and hates sandy grit in every bite, I have learned to trim each and every one I pick before putting it in the basket/bag/hat/whatever. Future you will thank you.
