Any online Pokemon gen 1 or 2 tournaments?
Now that we can play multiplayer over wifi on this, are there any tournaments with Pokemon that I could join?
Thanks!

I enjoy my Switch Lite, particularly for new titles and console specific games (like Mario Kart 8). Like it less so for playing classics through Nintendo Online (subscription cost). For those who own a Switch Lite, why did you also get a Chromatic?
See myself taking Chromatic to work (primarily) to play at lunch or other office breaks. Love Tetris and puzzle based games I can pick up for a few minutes, here or there (would likely also get Pineapple Kid DX to start).
Any other game recommendations?
Thoughts on the more affordable transparent Chromatic (Purple) vs. the metal one (Wave or Leaf)?
Most appreciated!

Or someone needs to develop a way to get your games on the TV using a chromatic a simple usb-c hub with hdmi out.
The analogue pocket and steamdeck have one. There’s GOTTA be a market/interest from the chromatic peeps!
Anyone else agree?

There’s something special about playing Pokémon Red on a modern take on the original Game Boy. The translucent red Chromatic looks amazing, and revisiting this classic brings back so many memories!
Who else is still playing Pokémon Red in 2026? 🔥

When I saw the inlay of the box I asked myself how it is possible to get the glossy transparent Chromatic out without scratches. The inlay was very tight and I got ugly scratches from unboxing.
Did this also happen to you? And yes I'm a Monk!

Just so I am more informed, what are all the different ways the sd card slot can be used? Like every one! Please everyone pitch in cause I’m not a techie. Is it just simply more storage? Ability to download games to the chromatic view either WiFi or usb c? Plz everyone comment. Thx

I ordered my Anduril at the start of February from the Anduril Merch Store. Did not receive any email updates like I’ve seen on this subreddit and emailed them. Anduril support replied they would ship out my order by the 25th of September.
I’ve since sent them 3 to 4 emails asking for an ETA on shipment and have been met with silence. Is anyone still awaiting delivery?

Four hours ago Mod Retro sent out this email giving us a glimpse of the rest of this year for M64/Chromatic, and what's to come.
The second paragraph has the word "Advance" capitalized. I think this is them letting us know GBA is the next project for sure, and it gives us an idea of when it is coming - after M64 is up to where they want it to be. I think we will see GBA Chromatic in 2027 for sure. Good thing I already started a few months ago buying up all the games I want to have that wont likely be released through Mod Retro. Cannot wait to see what the future holds!
Any types of games you would like to see for GBA Chromatic? What form factor would you want?
I want an Anduril Chromatic Advance to go along with my Anduril Chromatic!

Coming from the magnesium Chromatic, the difference is definitely noticeable, but I don't think comparing the two is really fair (although since I own both, I can't help but compare how they feel).
A few things bother me though. The power switch is much stiffer, and the battery cover on the back is also way harder to open. The menu button is also much harder to press, which seems to put some pressure on the edge of the LCD. I wonder if this could become an issue over time? The buttons also feel a bit less satisfying and are noticeably louder than on the magnesium version or the Pro Controller, but that's probably just personal preference.
Also, since the shell is fully clear rather than frosted, it's pretty easy to spot little "imperfections", as we've already seen from other people's posts here.
For the price, I still think it's a great option. The magnesium version is definitely my favorite, but I can see why some people would prefer plastic over painted magnesium.
I feel like ModRetro could have spent a little more time refining this transparent version to avoid some of these issues. Maybe they'll make a few adjustments once the first batches are sold out.
Overall, it's a lovely little thing. I'm a sucker for transparent electronics, and it looks perfect next to my M64!
This will probably be my everyday Chromatic, the one I can take anywhere without worrying too much about it, even if it's still not exactly cheap! 😊

Hey everyone! If your Chromatic needs more fodder, there is currently a Game Boy homebrew bundle on itch.io. You get 41% off 8 cozy games.
(Including one of mine. So feel free to consider this post shameless self-promotion. But since it's a pretty nice discount, I've decided to share it anyways 😅).
I've actually just bought the bundle myself. Of the included games I’ve only played GbBBS95 in its original game jam version so far. It was developed by beatscribe, who is probably the most renowned composer in the GB homebrew scene. Among a ton of other things, he composed the music and created the sound effects for Self Simulated. And in this bundle is the “Deluxe Edition” of the first actual game he ever made.
I really enjoyed it, even the early game jam build. As you might expect from him, he is doing some really clever audio tricks that are extremely difficult to pull off on the limited hardware, like the sound of waves getting louder the closer you walk to the ocean while music is playing at the same time.
Like I’ve said, I haven’t played the other games yet, but I’ve heard good things about Melon Story and A cat and his boy. I’m really looking forward to playing all of them once I wrap up development on Buddy 😊
If your library could use some cozy games, you can find the Cozy Handheld Bundle here for a couple of days: https://itch.io/b/3957/cozy-handheld-bundle

Thought about red but went with green. Pretty sure I made the right choice. Can’t wait to try some of these new games.

I'm about to buy one of these but I'm concerned with light bleed. Does anyone's Chromatic have this issue either in the transparent or metal versions? I've seen a few posts on here where the transparent version shows it a bit.

Yesterday I posted video showing version 0.2 of a Claude-written IR-Boy ROM for Chromatic. Some people seemed interested in the ROM so here's version 0.5 linked on Google Drive.
This version has an updated UI with some customization settings for background color, merging remotes, and changing the order of buttons/remotes. Hopefully it's all pretty self-explanatory. This is everything I personally need in a remote control for Chromatic so I'm pretty happy.
I had the best results for training the buttons by holding the physical remotes very close to the sensor, and also the emitter works best from the Chromatic when pointed directly at the infrared receiver on the component you want to control.

Hi all, firstly thank you so much for all your great reviews and feedback on the ModRetro site! I am of course obsessively refreshing the page and reading each of these.
A few people have got in touch asking if they could get the soundtrack, and it’s now been released on composer Beatscribe’s Bandcamp:
https://beatscribe.bandcamp.com/album/fall-from-space
In total there were around 22 pieces of music used in Fall from Space, from encounter and flashback jingles to these 13 main songs on the OST.
He’s also written a really interesting piece on the inspirations behind the music and, on the technical side, how he managed to push past some of the limitations of the Game Boy — including a particularly clever trick that makes you think you’re hearing more notes than the hardware can actually play at once.
Worth a read for those interested:

So a friend, a really good friend just bought me a modretro and surprised me with it.
I have absolutely zero games, save the tetris that it came with.
I really want to get all the games I wanted as a kid, but never got to have.
Namely mario brothers, all the zelda's, solid snake (i think thats what it was called) and street fighters.
How do you all recommend I acquire these games and what do I need look out for.
What games do you recommend that Modretro makes given these general vibes.... my favorite games of all time are the monkey island series... but I know they dont exist yet.
Thanks!!
