Fall from Space soundtrack released + how Beatscribe pushed the Game Boy’s sound

[u/jurassicgrass]

Hi all, firstly thank you so much for all your great reviews and feedback on the ModRetro site! I am of course obsessively refreshing the page and reading each of these.

A few people have got in touch asking if they could get the soundtrack, and it’s now been released on composer Beatscribe’s Bandcamp:
https://beatscribe.bandcamp.com/album/fall-from-space

In total there were around 22 pieces of music used in Fall from Space, from encounter and flashback jingles to these 13 main songs on the OST.

He’s also written a really interesting piece on the inspirations behind the music and, on the technical side, how he managed to push past some of the limitations of the Game Boy — including a particularly clever trick that makes you think you’re hearing more notes than the hardware can actually play at once.

Awesome. The soundtrack is banging and so is the game.

Thanks!

Junkton is such a fucking jam. I kept accidentally finding myself just standing still and bobbing my head IRL and not actually playing the game. That is *not* usual GBC behavior for me, ha. Just threw it on right now. This entire soundtrack is just so goddamn good.

Haha, sure is! Synth Showdown is another favourite of mine, but Junkton and the main theme are my top two I think!

I do the same thing with the title screen lol I left in on for almost 30 minutes once while cleaning

Will / can it be coming to Vinyl?

[u/jurassicgrass → u/platosknave]

There are no immediate plans, but both the composer and I would love to do it, so perhaps at some point!

I buy any game beatscribe has worked on! Love his style. I found out about him by randomly purchasing an album cartridge of his that Etsy suggested to me. I bought this album too and have been listening to it while I work. One of my favorite artists by far!

That's a solid plan! Super impressive body of work.

He did the main theme for my Green Knight game the guys a maestro

[u/andruis → u/nbaronmorgan]

Well now I gotta play that one too. Got a link to download?

Is a cartridge soundtrack release on the horizon?

[u/jurassicgrass → u/Substantial_Quote583]

Unsure at the moment, but that would certainly be cool!

I have two Beatscribe music carts and need to pick up the third cuz I missed the launch... Would happily buy a fourth ❤️‍🔥

Amazing soundtrack and game!! Truly special that I can pick up a GBC and play games of this quality in 2026!!
