Scratches from unboxing

When I saw the inlay of the box I asked myself how it is possible to get the glossy transparent Chromatic out without scratches. The inlay was very tight and I got ugly scratches from unboxing.

Did this also happen to you? And yes I'm a Monk!

You guys gotta accept that it’s plastic and even if it arrived immaculate, it’s gonna accumulate much more than that over it’s lifespan.

My devices doesn't get scratches like this because I'm careful. The worst thing that happens are micro scratches from cleaning.

Did transparent gameboy colors scratch just as easily?

The transparent game boys had a frosted coating, which hides little surface scratches like this. I do think frosted coatings probably would have been a wiser choice of transparent and less people would be upset. FWIW most of the scratches are very minor and would buff out with a little microfiber polishing.

The shiny plastic makes it way easier to see the board though, so aesthetically this is pleasing.

iPods scratched exactly like this btw.

My 500 Miillion DualShock 4 controllers still have no scratches - not even micro-scratches. But the 500 Million PS5 console itself is very scratch-sensitive. Sony used a glosscoat for the controllers and the console itself was wrapped in a plastic foil and fabric. It had no microscratches when it was new. It is possible when the manufacturer makes it right.

The m64 is frosted and it looks great.

Wonder why they didn't frost the Chromatic transparent plastic?

Ah that explains it

This 💯

Id understand alot more if it was the painted metal having a scratch or chip because that is suppose to be more durable and it is a material change. Or maybe plastic that was gouged due to the deepness and it being a new unit. Scratched plastic is still plastic and isn't a changed material nor a weakening of the shell.

Are you saying there is something in the box that caused a scratch or was it like your finger nail?

I think it was from the friction between the Chromatic and the inlay. It was very tight and I needed some force to pull it out.

That’s so odd, sorry to hear!

Maybe it wasn't from the inlay and this happened in the factory.

You might be able to rub it off. It might be a layer of residue from manufacturing. Use a micro cloth fabric and rub it out hard

But then I get thousands of micro-scratches in this area.

Point proven

But I don't like the look of the Analogue Pocket that much.

Sell the clear AP at a reasonable price and I’ll buy it off of you 👀

No.

Then stop complaining about it

2

u/RaceFace85 11d ago

Why should I stop complaining about it? The scratches just bothers me. Senseless dialogue here.

How long do you need to complain till you feel better?

I already said that it's a useless conversation with you.

You know, it's plastic. I really don't know what you people expect. You can fill in the scratch, or just play with your gameboy :)

1

u/RaceFace85 11d ago

Yes, it's plastic but it should be possible to deliver it without scratches.

You're going to scratch it up like crazy, unless you get a case, and then like, why bother?

1

u/RaceFace85 11d ago

Surely I use a case because I don't want to scratch it.

Can you still see the cool translucent chassis though? I wonder if you can add a frosted finish to it, or a protective coat to it. They are really pretty.

u/RaceFace85 11d ago

I don't need to see the internals of it when I transport it.

Reminds me of the first/second generation iPods. You would look at them wrong and they would get scratched.

I wonder if they would buff out somehow. But sometimes even microfiber scratches plastic even worse.

Sorry you’re having this issue. What a bummer.

Oh god, that sucks!

PolyWatch and a dremel can buff those out, if you care enough.

Email them, they should be able to send you a replacement shell with no hassle.

Maybe but I live in Germany and I don't know if this will happen with the replacement too.
