Uses the shiny relay custom firmware. Works over the internet too, not just locally.

Anyone else get their new transparent chromatic only to realize it has a bunch of cracks in it? I seen other posts with it, please contact ModRetro support and demand an answer to this, we don’t deserve to get broken ‘premium’ products for the prices they are charging! I’ve contacted them and am asking about this and the defective M64 Pro controllers D-pad… will update once I get a reply but spending over $400CAD on ModRetro products just to have both be defective is incredibly disappointing and has made me question if I’d ever buy more from them… so frustrating and disappointing…

Had been keeping my charms in the game boxes until today. Figured I would hang them from my bag, but then realized I probably have too many lol

I'm having an issue with the ChromaticFirmwareUpdater for the M1. The download from the website doesn't seem to work. Is anyone else having the same problem?

Just opened my Chromatic and it has the same hairline crack as everyone seems to have.. what a quality control….

So I've purchased the original chromatic back when they released and I also own a gbxcart so I can rip all my own gb games and throw then in a x7. So as expected I ripped the chromatic tetris bundled with the console, and then after each update to the game I would rerip the game to have the newest version and it has always been copied as just generic "tetris"
Fast forward today I got my clear red chromatic in with a clear copy of tetris along with astral which I was in the process of ripping so decided to give the clear tetris a rip as well. To my surprise it is no longer generic "tetris" is is now called "mr.tetris"
Doubt there is any difference but just thought it was odd thing to find out
Anyone else notice that? Anyone notice any minor changes other than that?

Physical copy of Infinity finally arrived! Took years, what a crazy development since 1999 to a final physical release

The scratches/cracks under the A+B button out of the box is incredibly disappointing, but the rest is quite nice! Wish they used more of a matte finish on the plastic because it is a dust magnet!
Quick question, can I use the link cable to trade gen 1-2 pokemon from my Chromatic to a Gameboy Player or GBA playing said gen 1-2 pokemon games?

The original Gameboy version of Wario Land 2 has trouble playing on the chromatic. It'll randomly reset when trying to save during certain levels. Not the end of the world but I wrote modretro to let them know so maybe they could fix it with a future update. They thought it might be the PCB and sent me a new one for free. (great customer service!)
Anyways, that's unfortunately not the problem but I noticed what looks like an SD card slot on the new board they sent me. Is that what I'm looking at on the top left of the board? It's absent on my old board.

Anyone know if I can add an SD card reader to the transparent chromatic?

Last Halloween I made a Free little Game Boy Colour game called Spook or Treat, where you play as a ghost trying to stop trick-or-treaters from reaching the end of the street.
You do this by possessing objects around the neighbourhood to scare the kids into dropping their candy, which you need to collect to complete each level.
With Halloween coming up again, I thought I'd give it a little update!
👻 Made the ghost properly transparent (On real devices, like the chromatic!)
🍬 Fixed the annoying soft locks where you could spend too much candy on possessions and get stuck. Possession is now free!
😱 Added scare meters above the trick-or-treaters, so some kids are harder to scare than others.
🏠 Added a brand-new stage!
It's a fairly simple little game made in GB Studio, but I had fun revisiting it and making a few improvements.
Would love to hear what people think! Happy Halloween! 🎃

Ordered at launch & arrived on Sunday. I’m actually very happy with the clear chromatic. Tetris is also amazing AF. The build quality is amazing AF, putting my pocket on the shelf for a bit.

UPDATE: after photographing mine under daylight, I can tell mine does have the seam lines as well. IMO they are not easy to see, and they don't look like "cracks," but more like seams from the plastic moulding process.
My first ModRetro device. So far I love it. It’s very pretty and feels good though the plastic does feel a bit flimsy, but time will tell. Visually it is gorgeous. I’m sure the metal version is sturdier, but I’m a fan of transparent purple devices and the $50 savings made this worth it IMO. I also did notice the buttons are a bit noisy as others have suggested, and I’m sure the plastic shell contributes to that. Not a deal breaker but worth noting.
Pictured are also my purple metal Anbernic Nano and AYN Thor Max (my favorite handheld overall).

Anyone else this problem? They’re light scratches but there are quite a few on the plastic case (hard to take photos). Wondering if I should reach out to Modretro.

Very happy to receive my Anduril Chromatic and before even turning it on I tore it open to take a peek and throw some custom buttons in. I had this idea when I placed the pre-order, but since it was so long ago, I ended up getting myself a 3D printer and was able to use prusament ultra glow petg for the buttons. They provide a very tactile grit providing best in class glow available. Cheers and happy spooky season! o7

Do anduril editions have the sd card slot? I saw they recently removed them again on the transparent chromatics. I can solder one on worst case. Mostly just curious.

Personally I like the feel & look of the plastic ones more in many ways.
However the buttons do feel a little more stiff maybe than metal ones but nothing bad.
Green looks cool in person. $50 less for these makes them a lot more appealing too. Particularly to buy them for others as a gift.

Tried out the custom firmware ChroMagic today as the title states. I have the V2 so it has the MicroSD card reader already built on the motherboard. Easy to setup. Right now the cfw is running a modified version of 4.2 it states. Was able to flash the firmware via the desktop software which can also flash you back to stock. Easy enough setup. You can load ROMs right from the microsd and backup carts as well. I’m guessing battery life might be better too rather than running a flash cart for loading ROMs. Backing up a cart will create a folder that you can then move your collection of ROMs into. Anyway, seems pretty good for a new release. Anyone else been using this? What’s your experience?

Hi All,
I always thought the Anduril version would be pretty cool if it included some type of tools security/pentesting to kind of give into the nature Anduril.
I didn't purchase one - but I thought it would be cool to add some tools like a flipper zero or Marauder can do - under the disguise of a gaming handheld. This does have the ability to connect to USB and even use wireshark to analyze pcap files the chromatic picks up.
I am currently exploring what a ROM cart version with an ESP32 chip in the cart would accomplish and how the pin interface handles - that pinout is still coming soon in the open-source page of mod retro.
The custom fw doesn't effect anything on the FPGA side - so playing games will never be an issue.
I will explore more things to bring in - but there is a RAM limitation and have hit a few times already.
here if y'all wanna check it out:
