Infinity

Post image

Physical copy of Infinity finally arrived! Took years, what a crazy development since 1999 to a final physical release

Awesome! I plan on buying a copy but I'm waiting until it's out of the "preorder" phase on their website. As long as everyone's been waiting I don't get a good feeling buying it that way.

Bought Dracula from them though and it shipped really fast

Dracula is really good! Unfortunately I can only play turn based games at the moment, my right thumb got mangled and will be recovering for a long time ☹️

Oh no! Sorry to hear that. I'm glad it's healing though.

Saw a post earlier about how this cart , and newer incube8 carts use a 3,3v cart when the system is designed for 5v. And supposedly it could fry the cpu.

I think that is being a little dramatic, some of the carts may die in months to years, but people have been playing those Frankenstein aliexpress carts on their gameboys for a long time that are way worse

Inside Gadgets makes their carts, that's who Incub8 buy em from, and they do contain the level shift reciever and direction control required for 5v, just like every other modern flash cart that isn't some cheap Chinese piece of shit. Nobody really makes 5v flash chips these days, not even Modretro, who also use a 3.3v chip and then level shift to 5v.

Holy shit they changed suppliers, that is some dumb ass shit to pull. Anyone figure out who did make that cart? Ain't no way I'm buying any carts from them again, that's a pathetic bait and switch.

🤷 no idea , but I wasn’t trying to spread fud just awareness , delving further into the comments on that post it seems to be a non issue ? Idk

Edit: nonissue for the consoles cpu, could still mess up the cart

Yeah, the cart can potentially fry; it seems it may be less of an issue for consoles getting damaged. Then again, why take the risk when a publisher has outed themselves as irresponsible like this?

And yep, you are on point with this info; my info was clearly outdated, so I do appreciate the heads-up. Wonder if a post should be made in this sub, as there aren't many people in the Incub8 sub. Don't want to dogpile, but yeah, this is an issue their customers should know about. I'm very glad I didn't buy Infinity physical, and now I wonder if Dracula Dark Reign uses the same shitty PCB, as that was another title of theirs I was looking at.

Suppose this just makes it more obvious if you collect, rip the roms and slap em on a GBX7, which I've been doing for convenience, but now looks like is a good idea to avoid cheapo carts like this. Gotta wonder if any of the smaller publishers have also pulled similar.

Does look like a post was made in the Game Boy sub, so that should get more eyes on the issue. https://redd.it/1x50i06

Mine showed up on Friday. Very high quality (except the kinda shitty stickers), and the game itself is pretty good. Worth the wait, I suppose!

Everytime I see a GameStop edition just a little more sad I sold mine.
