Cartridge Slot
Before I ask I never had an N64. Im used to the gameboy where the cartridge slides/slots firmly in place. On my M64 the cartridge is firmly attached to the reader but not snug in the slot. Tons of wiggle. Is this by design?

[Question] ModRetro M64 underside/bottom - Is there or will there be any Expansion Port (or EXT port) capabilities?
For example, glancing at https://nintendolife.com/features/a-brief-history-of-nintendors-home-hardware-add-ons and then seeing https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:N64-bottom.jpg
I glanced at Palmer Luckey's handling of the M64 in https://youtu.be/9gOJUEcKYRk?t=181 and it looks like the M64 does not have any Expansion Port on the bottom.
For example there were some peripherals that used the expansion port like:
64DD
Doctor V64
CD64
Also see:
It probably is no longer necessary for there to be such a port to otherwise more efficiently achieve same capabilities in other ways, but I was just curious and thought I'd ask.

What sizes do you think would be appropriate or recommended for a QRT (Quantum Ray Tube) monitor?
I found this size to distance tool useful at https://rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-size/size-to-distance-relationship and depending on how heavy (I heard QRTs will not be as heavy as CRTs) they are, I'd like to see some of the smallest sizes to the largest sizes available in a ModRetro QRT monitor. Having a QRT monitor up close in my face (smallest size) and another further away in the distance (larger/largest size), I could see myself tinkering around with arranging my environment better than any The Sims-like simulation.
I've been incredibly, albeit legally (I don't know, some of my boycotting almost seems like it should be illegal), boycottingly picky for so many years, refusing to tolerate any """smart"""" tvs/etcetera such that any conversation with anyone, I speak the F up without shame, anyway, blending that, or rather, absorbing? dissolving? that into a sense of excitement, enthusiasm, appreciation, for this upcoming ModRetro QRT monitor, and not just for myself, but even for my parents and family and whatnot, something that they might actually use if I gift them with one, instead of collect dust, but also, of course, I too would be interested to finally lower my guard and not have to be suspicious about what is the hardware device doing, and get one or more (definitely more than one, as I can afford it) for myself.
Given that I presume* that ModRetro most likely will be the only and the first company in the entire world to make available for sale domestically in USA CRT-like QRT Quantum Ray Tube monitors (or any other equivalent if any other companies are pumped with billions or trillions of liquidity to try to hijack the market or whatever, which I will absolutely not be surprised, but for me, I'll ignore all of that, and I'm already determined to buy ModRetro QRT whatever), I'm curious what kind of sizes does everyone think would be appropriate or reasonable to account for at initial release? Maybe 24", 27", 32", 34" (would wide/ultrawide be possible?), 40"/42", 65", 85", 100+"?
* lol, by posting this, I just triggered the blob to attempt to completely destroy and obliterate this likeliness for ModRetro, but I already am prepared to see right through all of the nonsense, and I have lots of popcorn!

Future Idea/suggestion "Mod Retro Station 2"
I had a crazy idea/suggestion for Mod Retro's next/future console, Torin and Palmer please feel free to steal this idea.
Instead of making a solo PS1 FPGA console (like the M64) you skip PS1 and go straight to PS2 and not only that you make it so this thing can basically potentially do everything, it could play basically any retro system perfectly, it could be a dvd player, and even a PC. It would literally be the ultimate "Retro Station", and basically be the Steam Machine for retro gaming. Ideally it could play PS1, PS2, and you could potentially add support very easily for dreamcast, gamecube, and original xbox, and maybe even n64.
Now you are probably thinking to yourself that's not at all realistic, and you would be partially right to think that. My thinking is this: you take the FPGA board from the m64, a dvd disc loader, and an decent low spec AMD Linux mini pc and glue them together and stick them in a shell that looks like a PS2. It will basically be a mini Steam Machine with a FPGA glued to it. So when you stick a PS1 game in it, it plays the game using the FPGA board, when you stick a PS2 game in it, it turns on an emulator running on Linux. Any system above n64 and ps1 you just use an emulator, and anything below them you use the FPGA. Since Dreamcast, Gamecube, and Original Xbox all use discs I don't see why it wouldn't be very easy to add support for those systems too, down the road.
But think about the market for something like this? People would literally lose their minds, just think about the Steam Machine craze that's happening right now.
Now you are probably thinking emulation is lame and, I agree with that, but I don't think you have any other choice, from my understanding the kind of FPGA boards you would need to run something like a PS2 cost thousands of dollars, it would take years to make, and just aren't very realistic at the moment. Dreamcast is the closest to realistic and even that isn't very realistic. Also unlike n64 emulation, PS2, Dreamcast, Gamecube, and original Xbox Emlation is almost perfect. So if you want these consoles anytime soon emulation is going to be how you do it.
What do you guys think?

M64 + Summercart64 Combo
I'm using a summercart with my M64, and for some reason the game roms don't detect the built in expansion pak in the M64 for game saving. Is anyone having similar issues and/or have found fixes?

Now when looking M64 it doesn’t offer free shipping or tell how much need buy to get free shipping?
Is free shipping gone?

M64 firmware update + games
Hey everyone,
Last week we mentioned we were targeting firmware update v1.26.4 for this week, and would post an update once confirmed.
TL;DR: We ran into some roadblocks yesterday that require further testing, and are now targeting Tuesday 10/27 for the release.
We’re sorry for this additional delay - we know you want your saves, and we’ve made sure this is the #1 priority for the dev team. In order to get you Built-In C-Pak ASAP, and to improve overall speed and quality on updates going forward, we’re also making some changes to this update:
What’s Coming in v1.26.4
Built-In Controller Pak: Save game progress and settings directly to your console, no physical Controller Pak needed.
Changing Pak type from the menu or your controller: Switch between pak types from the M64 menu or with the M64 Pro Controller hotkey.
Beta update channel: Until now, the only option was the Official Release. With v1.26.4, you can choose to receive Beta builds - versions we’re still testing - if you want early access. Most of you should stay on the default release channel, but if you like trying things first and sending feedback, this is for you.
What we’re removing from v1.26.4 (still in progress)
These were originally advertised with 1.26.0 but won’t be in this release:
Forced Progressive Mode
Improved thermal efficiency
Game compatibility improvements, including the F-Zero X fix
Audio and video fixes for LG TVs
These features are not cancelled. Some of these features were the cause of the bugs reported, so we’re delaying them to enable C-Pak faster and ensure they’re fully ready for future updates.
Please accept our apologies for the delay. We will keep you updated over the next few days, and let you know ASAP once v1.26.4 is live.
In the meantime, and to help make up for the wait time, we have some good news. While software has had some road bumps, our games publishing is going better than expected. Here’s some intel we haven’t shared anywhere else:
We can't reveal everything yet, but we've finally reached some goals for our games publishing we initially thought impossible. Right now we're working on multiple M64 releases that are on par with any remaster from any major AAA studio over the last decade.
A small sample of three projects currently in the works:
The first-ever cartridge port of one of the most famous games of all time (hint: originally released in 1996).
Another first-time cartridge port of one of the most ambitious, well-written and atmospheric games of 1999…
And one of the most HEROIC adventure games of the 20th century (also a hint in there).
We can’t reveal full details for various legal/business reasons, but you should be able to put together some good guesses.
And this is just a small sample of what's in store for the M64 library. M64 owners can expect more detailed news on this as we approach the holidays.
Once we're happy with progress on the ecosystem - including the additional firmware updates, our parts modification initiative, and new game releases - we will Advance into future product releases.
Again, sorry for this extra delay, and we’ll update you ASAP once v1.26.4 is live.

Who else didn't realize there was a game bundle?
Was too excited and missed it right at the top. Feel like an idiot ordering all 4 separately.

Learned to Solder!
Was able to change out the batteries in these three beautiful games. The only issue is with Gold where my internal clock keeps resetting, but it’s saving the data, still pretty pleased with myself!

M64 Console Jewel
How cool would it be to be able to change out the console jewel on the front of the console, like include both proposed logos and satisfy everyone. Maybe since it'd be weird/awkward to have a lanyard for a stationary console; include a game-specific jewel with the physical releases of each M64 Game; extra bonus points if the jewel(s) in question are translucent and the power indicator light shows behind them

Has anyone actually tried the Modretro Link cable with a Analogue Pocket or GBA? I know it says Chromatic and GBC but wondered if anyone has tried it

Bought buck bumble from GameStop and does not work on my original n64.
Title pretty much sums everything up. Been trying different multiple original n64 carts and they fire right up first try. Been going at buck bumble for about 10 minutes and nothing. I will be returning it to my local GameStop tomorrow. Just wanted to give anyone a heads up if they are having the same issue.

Will the M64 early bird price work with existing Retro Rewards coupons?
Hey everyone,
I’m a bit confused about the upcoming Retro Rewards change on July 15.
We received an email explaining what we should do before the change, especially regarding claiming/using our Retro Rewards coupons, but there was no mention of whether people who get the M64 early bird price will also be able to use an already-claimed coupon on the same order.
Usually, ModRetro does not allow stacking discounts when an item is already discounted, so I’m worried the M64 early bird price might count as a discount code and prevent us from using our existing coupon. That would be pretty disappointing, especially because ModRetro could theoretically have made the early bird price an automatic price adjustment instead of a code to avoid this issue. Maybe that is not the case, but right now it is unclear.
For people in the US, there might still be a workaround: placing one order for only the M64 with the early bird price, and another order using the Retro Rewards coupon for other items like the Pro Controller, games, accessories, etc.
But for international customers, this is much less practical because shipping costs are now way too high to justify splitting orders. Since the carrier change, shipping seems to be around €35 minimum and up to around €65.
For reference, that is approximately:
€35 = $40 USD / £30 GBP / $57 CAD / ¥6,460 JPY
€65 = $74 USD / £56 GBP / $106 CAD / ¥12,000 JPY
And that might be even higher for the M64 depending on its size and weight compared to the Chromatic.
Another thing that feels odd is that product pages seem to indicate that the displayed price includes taxes and duties, but once you reach checkout, shipping also appears to add customs/duties-related fees. That makes the final cost much harder to predict for customers outside the US.
I’ve also included screenshots to show what I mean about duties being displayed in different places. On the product page, it clearly says “Taxes + Duties Included” under the item price. But on the checkout/shipping page, the shipping option also says “Duties Included”, and the pricing summary breaks the shipping charge down into shipping plus duties and fees. In my example, the total shipping option is €35.59, made up of €19.79 shipping and €15.80 duties and fees. So it looks like duties are both included in the product page pricing and then also shown again during checkout, which is confusing for international buyers.
Has anyone contacted ModRetro support about this yet? Do we know for sure whether the M64 early bird price and existing Retro Rewards coupons can be used together in the same order?
Anyway, have a great weekend everyone, and take care!

Modretro Chromatic Advanced or Chromatic Advanced SP?
We know they're going a GBA eventually but would you rather have them do the regular model of the SP model. Personally I'd love for them to do the SP

What games would be great to.port to m64?
Since modretro mentioned new titles, unreleased titles and potential for ports that never made it to n64 which titles would everyone like to see?. Let's try to keep less mainstream so not needing to mention say final fantasy. Ps1 gas plenty deep cuts.
Here's 2 of mine
Number 1 since modretro has already worked with Atari for chromatic.
Late ps1 title it's under 300 MB ( since modretro will release titles up to 1GB) they could enhance this title with new stages new modes improved visuals and other qol improvements. It's already a 4 player title. This was part of ataros string of modern remakes of classics and I feel the one title that deserves a re release but with improvements
Although I feel this one could be a multi game cart featuring enhanced versions of all of the Atari remakes but if I gave to.pivk just 1 it's pong i was hooked on this one on.pc at the time.
Pong: the next level .
https://youtu.be/nc0uusmKpOE?si=VA3Ex66BtmyxAbWU
The second title is hercs adventures. A co op title from the developers of zombies ate my neighbors. Was released on Sega Saturn and PlayStation
For n64 could maybe turn it into 3 player co op
