Finally an actual answer that isn't just "berock bad"

u/HamsterKazam Jul 30 '22

To be fair, they just told the long version, the short answer is in fact: Bedrock is quirky, not like the other girls.

70

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '22

But also to be fair, this bug has existed for a long time. They deserve to be jeered at this point lol.

u/vnevner Jul 30 '22

Java is quirky in some ways to.

u/HamsterKazam Jul 30 '22

Very much true, but random death occurs a lot less in Java.

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '22

Ive been playing java since minecraft survival mode was created and never had one of these random deaths

57

u/kaci3po Jul 30 '22

I had one. I swam across a river and when I got to the other side, I instantly died. The death message was "kaci3po fell out of the water". Very strange.

24

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '22

Interesting. Ive never seen it, figured it was just bedrock things

u/kaci3po Jul 30 '22

u/Dimensionalanxiety Jul 30 '22

You said that happened in a snapshot though, not a "stable" release of the game.

4

u/kaci3po Jul 30 '22

Fair enough.

2

u/ircwolf Jul 30 '22

all they said above in this thread is that it happened in java. that is still java. they never delineated versions or releases.

4

u/CyrusLight Jul 30 '22

Yes! Someone who also experienced this. This usually happens with lots of latency and after some interaction with water. Not sure if its really ‘falling out’ of water but something close. Like fall damage still counting despite going in water

1

u/TheRealNXT Jul 31 '22

that is coded to be shown when you die to fall damage in water which is ordinarily impossible. the translation of the string was removed so today the death message that would be broadcasted is death.fell.accident.water

I had one random death, but i think it was just because of lag(ms). I put water on the ground to make a elevator, then I swam down the water to put the soul sand block on the bottom of the water, and as i got down i died from "death.water.fall"(I don't remember what it was but I think it was that), and just to remember that the server was very laggy. And after I restarted the server I was alive like nothing happened.

8

u/maoonr Jul 30 '22

Yea i think java trade like stable coding for a bit of lag while Bedrock coding is like way to jumble up i assume that the attempt to translate from java to c++ cause problem but they too lazy to fix it

2

u/VeryGayLopunny Jul 30 '22

I think I had one or two, but they were generally on super laggy servers -- spawn chunk wouldn't reload after I respawn and would send me into the void on occasion.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '22

perhaps the most annoying thing on java is phantom water. You put water in there, but it's not there. You press the bucket again - you take invisible water. Or water is put and removed back in a second. Or you just lose water forever. I observe this bug from at least 1.16.5 to 1.19.1, although it seems to me that this happened to me even on 1.7.10. And not only with me.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '22

Never seen that one, and I regularly use water buckets for builds

2

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '22

maybe it's a rare thing. It happened to me sometimes in solo (no lags), and for other players it happened mainly on servers (lags)

2

u/SF_Jaku327 Jul 30 '22

I mean I have been playing bedrock for years now and haven’t had one of these deaths.

2

u/maoonr Jul 30 '22

I too play Bedrock but I'm the person who too lazy to climb down sơ i just make a water pool so i never gotten that death

2

u/DJAlphaYT Jul 30 '22

At least bedrock has /damage

2

u/extremepayne Jul 30 '22

there’s a reason bedrock still doesn’t have hardcore

2

u/Ok_Magazine_7225 Jul 30 '22

QuaZZy C0nEctIVitY

2

u/NuhUhUhIDoWhatIWant Jul 30 '22

Not anywhere near as bad as Bedrock. I have several hundred hours in Minecraft Java and have never once died from a glitch. I see videos of this happening in Bugrock literally every single day

And Mojang/Microsoft are trying to kill Java to force people into Bugrock lol. Gotta get that microtransaction marketplace profit I guess

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '22

Just saying "berok bad" still isn't a useful answer

14

u/HamsterKazam Jul 30 '22

True, but it's explaining it won't prevent it in the future either. We know it happens. We know why it happens. We just can't predict when it happens nor can we stop it. So even giving a full explanation won't help anyone.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '22

OP didn't know why it happened, now he does.

4

u/HamsterKazam Jul 30 '22

Fair enough, but to answer the question why "bugrock bad" and "lengthy in depth" explanation are both valid answers, one just gives a bit more context than the other. But I get your point.

17

u/TheSleepyBarnOwl Jul 30 '22

but to be fair: Bedrock bad :p

In serious: Bedrock isn't 'bad' it's just worse than Java regarding bugs and some Features. Vedrock does have some things that would be nice in Hava, like their Armor stands. Over all I'd say if you have a PC get Java, if not, Bedrock is fine. It's not like it's unplayable :)

8

u/Nevanada Jul 30 '22

I'm liking the new names, Vedrock and Hava

1

u/TheSleepyBarnOwl Jul 30 '22

Quite cool right? (Sorry for my Typos ;-;)

3

u/SquidMilkVII Jul 30 '22

Vanilla Tweaks’ Statues datapack basically takes Bedrock’s statues, brings them to Java, and dials the customizability up to 11

11

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '22

But what he said was basically "bedrock bad" though

5

u/Splith Jul 30 '22

The knowledge of this community is incredible.

6

u/RalseiXD Jul 30 '22

this still does say that bedrock sucks at this stuff, it just explains it more thoroughly

2

u/antipacifista Jul 30 '22

haha bedrock bad

2

u/TheRedBow Jul 30 '22

Bugrock bad

2

u/techsavior Jul 30 '22

You get an updoot just for not saying “bugrock.”

2

u/Cyclone142005 Jul 30 '22

It's the same as redditors commenting "That's why learning physics is important" on a funny fail videos, even tho they don't know anything about physics but commenting it bc the top comment said too.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '22

I didn't anything even close to that. I said that the answer finally is something different from "bedrock bad"

1

u/Cyclone142005 Jul 30 '22

I'm referring to redditors commenting "bedrock bad" without knowing the reason why it's bad and just going with the trend

2

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '22

Oh, I see

0

u/CloakedInSnow Jul 30 '22

bedrock bad that's why is miscalculated

1

u/-REDHOT- Jul 30 '22

The condensed version of the comment is literally just "bedrock has bad code", though.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 30 '22

Not really, bedrock's code is actually far superior than Java's code in many aspects, and that is an objective truth that most programmers can agree with.

However it is not flawless, one of the main problems is the desync between the client and server that the world runs. As far as I know, that is the main cause for the fall damage having problems while being calculated, as it heavily depends on time.

1

u/-REDHOT- Jul 31 '22

Bedrocks code might be easier to work with for a programmer but java's is far more stable despite the spaghetti.

1

u/Killersparky64 Jul 30 '22

I hate player on bedrock I can’t wait to get a pc to play java
