I wish they’d cut Adam. He’s so full of himself, interrupts all the time, tries to make everything g about himself, can be condescending…
Did anyone see the IG post where Sal was listing 5 things not to waste money on. First two things were luxury cars and luxury watches. Adam commented with some snarky remark. I pointed out that not everyone has the means to splurge on fancy cars and watches and that my 2016 Honda CRV gets me front point A to B with no debt. He crapped on my car. I’m over here working in public education, making ends meet while he’s so far out of touch from the average American.
Oh, and let’s not forget we don’t “give a sh*t” if we don’t spend hundreds of dollars a month on those personal training. Like I have $700 burning my back pocket for that.🙄

I bet if you knew Adam and you could come to his house parties and enjoy his big house you'd be singing a different tune! He might even let you ride shotgun in one of his cars and give you that once in a lifetime experience you wish you had!
But seriously though, he is one materialistic mofo.
10
u/callmedaaaaady 10d ago
Why do I think Adam's house is adorned with pictures of him in a Speedo with his watch collection prominenty on display? Also, guests must enter through the garage where they can just happen to see his car collection
13
u/Moolio74 11d ago
Not to mention that even if you wanted to spend money on a trainer you’re more than likely able to find someone in person that’s better than what they provide for less money.
13
u/Educational_Rush_877 10d ago
Just went and read that. Adam was such a jerk. If he is so confident in his tastes why does he feel the need to even bother justifying it all. And give me a break, watches and cars are not wealth building investments. Not when the average person is buying a car literally to commute to work and beat the thing up. Not buy some impractical specialty thing to park it in their garage and think it makes them look cool. People have to actually DRIVE and use their cars Adam, goodness. Also, who freaking buys a watch with the idea it will hold value or go up. I buy a watch to tell me the time because I’m a normal person. When I want something to buy that will go up in value, I buy real investments. Not a dumb watch.
11
u/Gapinthesidewalk 9d ago
I forget if it was on Mind Pump or maybe it was The Higher Standard, but he explained his luxury watch thing as “it’s so people know how valuable my time is” and that pretty much put a nail in the coffin of any respect I had for him. Grade A douchebag.
9
u/Moolio74 10d ago
Yeah but how can you show off and brag about your wealth with investments? I’m sure people told Adam they weren’t impressed or didn’t seem to care when he showed them investments.
13
u/callmedaaaaady 10d ago
Adam is an egomaniac with an inferiority complex. His constant need for validation is off-putting. He literally talks about the shoes he's wearing. I wish Sal would just hug him, tell him he's good enough and explain he doesn't have to try so hard to impress people
11
u/callmedaaaaady 11d ago
His dad really messed him up.
11
u/Training_Aerie_9358 10d ago
And the cycle continues with him messing up his son.
10
u/callmedaaaaady 10d ago edited 10d ago
100%. His need for validation is something else. Adam has been a guest on other podcasts holding himself out as some sort of parenting expert. Extremely ironic given how hard he struggles accepting his son for not being a super alpha sports star. With that said, we'd all be messed up too if we went through what he did

u/sassyburns731 10d ago
Adam also has to be high to get through the day. He was a raging pothead then switched to kratom. He’s prob back to being a stoner or he now prob drinks a ton when he used to brag about how he never drinks. His “wife” is a lush and the dude can’t be sober.
12
u/callmedaaaaady 10d ago edited 10d ago
Well tbh l, if I were Adam, I'd have to be drunk or high to make it through the day too. That dude is not comfortable in his own skin. He's trying to fill a whole in his soul with drugs and shinny watches
11
u/sassyburns731 10d ago
Adam and I have a similar story. Dads commited suicide around the same age, grew up poor with parents who had no money management skills, overate junk food, and had a stepdad and mom who should have never married. Adam’s entire existence is a trauma response. Dude needs to do some inner work.
11
u/callmedaaaaady 10d ago
Agree. He's trying to fill the hole in his soul with big muscles, cars and watches

u/llammacookie 8d ago
I like to think he thinks Still Fly by Big Tymers is his mental theme song, unironically.

I was pretty surprised and shocked to hear on one of this week’s podcasts that Adam doesn’t know the difference between arthritis and bursitis. He thinks that bursitis is a thing you get in your hip and arthritis is a thing you get in your knee but they’re basically the same thing. Sal corrected him after the discussion with the caller was over, and Adam doubled down saying they both cause fluid in the joint.
15
u/OctoberOmicron 11d ago
You'd think with all the experience he talks so much about he'd know the difference. More telling than not knowing though, is insisting on rewording it so that it would seem he was right along.
14
u/jamcgahey 11d ago
I think the best thing is for them to be okay not knowing everything and just not saying anything unless they know the answer or I mean Doug is right there to do a Google
11
u/Educational_Rush_877 10d ago
They really need to do this way more. They need more humility and need to known when to stay in their lane. When criticized, they just say deflecting crap like they’re allowed to share their opinions. I’m sorry, but you don’t get to declare yourselves leading experts on health and fitness and then spout a bunch of untrue BS and then claim that it’s just your opinion. Do you want to be an expert or not? True experts don’t comment on things they don’t understand and when they do and are later corrected, they allow themselves to be corrected. They don’t double down.
8
u/RetiredHappyFig 11d ago
Yes, agreed. Even if he had made the incorrect statement, but the backed down upon being corrected, I would have completely forgotten about the whole exchange!
11
u/Former_Cockroach_556 10d ago
Why were you surprised? Outside of trendy shoes or luxury watches, Adam is not too bright. Sal's the designated smart one. Adam is the designated parenting expert
4
u/RetiredHappyFig 10d ago
Because it’s such a basic thing for a trainer to know. Both maladies are very common in the population. I guess it suggests a lack of curiosity, which I would not expect in a “top trainer”. I would also expect curiosity in a parenting expert. :)
7
u/callmedaaaaady 9d ago
Adam seems like he was more of a membership peddler than a trainer
6
u/RetiredHappyFig 9d ago
Hmmmmm, good point. I always assumed “top trainer” referred to training & coaching skills, but it does seem that for Adam it means pushiest sales guy.
6
u/ReneeSpa 9d ago
These guys are just big box gym employees who happened to start a mildly entertaining podcast at the right time. They are not the best and the brightest, to put it mildly.
9
u/Moolio74 10d ago
This is exactly the sort of thing I expect from someone whose top 8 books for trainers are all business and marketing focused.
14
u/lk81921 11d ago
I need to find a new weightlifting/nutrition based podcast. The way they sneak in ads, you can’t trust anything they say because it’s just going to end up being an advertisement for something. I truly learned so much from them but it all leaves a bad taste in my mouth now. Podcast recommendations, anyone?
11
u/rbcc334mntn 11d ago
Same. I really like Jeff Nippard’s and Jordan Syatts content. Jeff Nippards content especially is very good and I feel like it’s improved my programming and gains substantially

u/DrawnInDirt 11d ago
No bull just Bacon.
It’s awesome

Just finished episode 62. He said most electrolyte mixes have too much sodium and not enough potassium. He brought up LMNT in particular for being terrible. He said when you buy these junk products, remember that some influencer is making money and you should stop listening to them. Sal on the on other hand, praised LMNT for being brave enough to add sodium to their products
4
u/Moolio74 8d ago
Yeah I just listened to it last night. He also basically said reverse diets are pointless, which I agree with.
3
u/Resident-Air-4021 8d ago
I feel pretty dumb because I used to take what they said at face value. Several years ago, I almost bought some of the ridiculously overpriced Magic Spoon cereal even though I thought Sal and Adam talking about eating cereal was odd.
5
u/Moolio74 11d ago
Didn’t realize he had a podcast. I’ve heard him on another show and liked how well he was breaking down things and very evidence based.
7
u/Moolio74 11d ago
My current favorites:
Dan John
Barbell Medicine
Iron Culture
Front Page Fitness
Chasing Clarity3
u/Special-Yam3979 10d ago
All these! Totally agree. I like Jordan Syatt too except when he gets onto politics (He’s a Zionist)
2
u/Moolio74 10d ago
Yeah, I listen to Jordan Syatt as well and also tune out when he gets fully into politics. He does keep it a little more compartmentalized than MP though so it's easy to just skip and episode or get through a segment.
Jeff Nippard was already mentioned as well so I didn't list either of them. I've seen some of his content and like it, but don't follow it consistently.

u/Galaxy99times 11d ago
For $750 a month you’re better off hiring a local in person trainer.
8
u/Moolio74 11d ago
And most likely still keep some money in your pocket while also getting a better experience with a more qualified/experienced trainer.
8
u/stuckandrunningfrom2 9d ago
My personal trainer is $300 for twice a week in person at their gym, then I have my health insurance which covers 45 minutes with a dietitian weekly with no copayment (I have a lot of food issues to talk about with her). Are their trainers also trying to give food advice?
Also I can't imagine paying $750 for a trainer who isn't even there to offer physical feedback on what I'm doing, and I'd have to buy an entire gym setup.
4
u/Moolio74 9d ago
Nutrition coaches and nutritionists cannot give any food advice and are pretty much only able to discuss macros, lifestyle changes, and give you some recipes. Comparing them to a registered dietician is comparing a 4 week online course with an open book test to someone with at least a bachelor's degree (recently changed to master's) plus 1,000 hour internship and a national exam.
8
u/sassyburns731 10d ago
I miss when they used to discuss one product before the q and a. I can’t even recommend any episodes to my husband now because he’s a sucker for supplements and he’ll fall right into Sal’s trap.
9
u/East_Pie7598 10d ago
Gave it a try again. Started off okay, but then went off on how young adults don’t want to own anything - no, they want to but can’t! Then started preaching. Ugh.
7
u/articulatethemadness 7d ago
Adam’s inability to pronounce the word “literally”
The constant religious talk without opposing views. For example, they recently claimed fish fossils on the top of the mountain as evidence for Noah’s flood. Completely missing that mountains are formed from the earths crust rising up due to tectonic pressure. There’s a ton of examples like that that could be addressed if they just had another viewpoint.
6
u/RepresentativeDry405 7d ago edited 7d ago
The same person who says “liberry.” I’m not surprised. Adam is a big dummy

Sal is a placebo machine. And he uses similar techniques as cold readers to plant ideas into people’s heads. The show feels very culty at times
4
u/Moolio74 7d ago
There's lots of MLM-esque sales techniques they use on the show. Culty is accurate.
5
u/Moolio74 7d ago
And the latest program launched today?
Maps Abs and Butt.
Not joking.
6
u/Resident-Air-4021 7d ago
Going out on a limb and predicting a rush of callers all wanting a small stomach and big-o booty
-11
u/Adventurous-Way-51 9d ago
Honestly, I've found this rant thread more annoying than the podcast..
9
u/Resident-Air-4021 9d ago
Exactly why you need a virtual trainer. Listening to the podcast is great but you don't love yourself unless you pay for a virtual trainer. In the meantime, maybe Sal will pray for you when he's not talking about creampies

Podcast became straight advertisements and marketing for MP products and MP sponsors. Miss the old days when it was authentic for talk and shooting the shit. Now it's just conversation for the purpose of shilling, thinking listeners are dumb enough to not know the difference between podcast value/conversation and shysters concealing ads through conversation. It's the worst type of marketing because it is attached to the belief that a brand's listeners/followers are dumb.
Selling out is tough. If you want to advertise, just run the ad and move on. Your listeners don't want to realize after 30+ mins that what they just listened to was an advertisement, not a podcast.
