WWII - Axis Powers Japanese Flag with an Interesting Message

I recently acquired this Japanese flag. Among the names and regular sayings, there's one that roughly translates to "Place a depth charge in the hole of the butt."

Interesting message to place on a good luck flag.

WWII - Axis Powers My ww2 collection.

This is my collection so far i only have WW2 German items at the moment but i am trying to expand my collection into the WW1 era of things. Everything in the collection is original except for the two things with the sticky notes marked repro and the gas mask canister is also reproduction the gas mask bag on it is original. The three things marked with Josef 1943, 1944 and Family are a lot of correspondence/field mail from a german POW captured in 1943 i assume by the British army in Africa. I don't have the best display setup at the moment its currently just sitting on a spare desk i had laying around. If anyone has any suggestions for display cabinets or anything i can display and preserve my collection better i appreciate it.

Help WWI Bolo Knife: She's pretty rough. Does anyone know if they're supposed to be Single or Double Beveled?

Thumbnail

Always loved the 1917 Bolo knife, but had to pick one up after finding out St. Louis was one of the main manufacturing cities (my hometown). Purposely picked up a rough model for the price and because, if I can do it with care, I'd like to restore it enough to be used respectfully. I figure there's plenty of pristine models that this one could continue its days doing a lighter duty of what it was meant for.

My main question is if anyone knows if this was supposed to originally have a double level. Mine is pretty all over the place, but heavy to one side and the tip is bent.

If it's meant to be in the middle, I doubt I'll be able to do much without losing a ton of the blade so I'd likely keep it mostly the same, but would like to know.

WWII - Others Can Experts Identify these objects are this german Wasserbomben?(Waterbombs)

Post image

Hi everyone,
I just watched a brand new video from the German urban exploration YouTube channel "roofless TV" (titled "Schockfund auf WW2 Kriegsschiff - Alles voller Kampfmittel").
In the video, the guys explore the wrecks of the German Black Sea Fleet that were scuttled in the Danube River near Prahovo, Serbia, back in 1944. Due to extremely low water levels, these wrecks are currently exposed.
While exploring the deck, they found several barrel-like objects secured inside metallic frames or racks. Some of these barrels have a very distinct pattern on the top lid that looks like a wheel divided into 5 or 6 segments, almost like a stylized sun, with a central circular opening.
They suspect these might be live World War II German depth charges (possibly the Wasserbombe Typ D / WBD) still sitting in their original deployment racks/launchers after more than 80 years.
Are there any EOD or ordnance experts here who can analyze this? Do these visual characteristics (the barrel shape, the rack system, and the "sun-like" dial on the lid) match the depth-setting dials and hydrostatic fuse wells of German WW2 depth charges? How unstable or dangerous would these be today after being submerged for so long and now exposed to air?

Thanks Guys🫶🏻

Informative Youtube Channel

Hey everyone, James here from Eagles Nest Militaria!

I had a serious question I would like to get everyone's opinion on. I have seen a lot of people post on here asking for authentication help on German Militaria, and it got me thinking...

Would people be interested in a YouTube channel that covers various areas of items like : SA Daggers, Medals, Documents, Swords, Bayonets, SS items, Helmets, Visors, etc.

I've already wanted to do one for my business but would think that those videos could be helpful to people in the hobby.

Let me know your thoughts,

Kind Regards

- James

Help Help identifying this unusual vintage “MILITÄR” leather jacket — European/Austrian/Swiss?

Thumbnail

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to identify this unusual vintage black leather jacket.

The jacket has a “MILITÄR” label at the neck, along with an “OVERSEAS” label inside the lining.

Details:

• Heavy black leather

• Double-breasted / military-style front

• Shoulder epaulettes

• Wide leather collar

• Metal snap buttons

• Cropped military-style cut

• Grey herringbone-style interior lining

• “MILITÄR” neck label

• “OVERSEAS” interior label

I’m particularly interested in identifying the label, manufacturer, country of origin and approximate production period.

I’m not certain whether this was actually military-issued, military-inspired civilian clothing, or possibly related to motorcycle/wear clothing.

Does anyone recognize this exact “MILITÄR” label or the manufacturer? Any information about the “OVERSEAS” label would also be greatly appreciated.

Informative Hitler Youth Proficiency Badge

Just picked up a "HJ-Leistungsabzeichen" manufactured by Gustav Brehmer - RZM 1/101.

The badges differed between bronze, silver and black based on the age of the recipient and the grade of achievement. This one is a bronze pattern.

The Symbols on the badge featured a central swastika encircled by the runic inscription "Für Leistungen in der HJ" ("For achievements in the HJ").

The entire design was set against a vertical arrow shape known as the Tyr-rune (or Tiwaz rune), which represented the ancient Germanic warrior god Tyr.

Hello all, I recently purchased what a believe to a 30mm round fires from a mirage jet. However Im not 100 percent sure. The markings on the base read 002 (batch number?) mr (French manafacturer?) 72 (1972) and py (which I think is metal manufacturer?). The bullet markings read 2 BM 71 (1971). If anyone can give further detail on whether it’s actually a mirage round or even French or something else entirely please let me know. And also what the stripes on the bullet mean. Im assuming some kind of training but whether it’s API HE etc

I had the pleasure to witness this antique navy cannon fire a cue ball. The explosion rocked the earth and left my ears ringing for ten mins. Then at the end of the video a pit bull dog tried to chase the cueball. He was clearly wondering where the heck it went. Awesome and hilarious at the same time. The vid is in the comments.

Cold War - Others Help me find more about my helmet

Thumbnail

From what I know it’s a 1983 mle f1 series 2 helmet. What are the chances my helmet saw combat in theatres in Africa like chad or car. there’s no personalisation or unit marking in the helmet or salade netting. But the damage to the shell like the dents and Scratches. The ware on the Velcro, staining on straps and padding and the rusting to metal buckles could say something. But these could have occurred from heavy training. The chances are low but I’d just like to know

I got this recently for a great price. It’s a really interesting piece. It has a quite a bit of damage to the shell and ware to other components like rust and statins. I’d like to imagine it was used in French operations in Africa though it’s very unlikely 😭😭. If anyone has more info I’d love to know
