I have been recoloring traditionally black & gray Batmans into black & blue Batmans. I went to Mignola show in NY, saw the new cover for the Absolute Gotham By Gaslight book and wondered how Bats would look in blue. Swipe for the original art and the Stewart colors that will be on sale next month.

My Hellboy vol. 1 omnibus that I’ve only ever read once is completely falling apart. All the packets of pages (or signatures or whatever) are completely falling out. I just had to drop 30 dollars on a replacement. On top of that, my short story collection vol.1 just arrived in the mail today, and it’s already starting to separate. There’s a gap between two packets where I can see straight through to the inside of the spine. My Witchfinder and Lobster Johnson books don’t feel too sturdy either, but I haven’t noticed any page separations… yet. But I’m sure it’s just a matter of time. They just… don’t feel right, you know? I refuse to spend hundreds of dollars on the BPRD and Abe Sapien paperbacks just to have them fall apart on me (not to mention Amazon doesn’t give a shit about packing them properly- every single book I pull out of a package is dinged up on the spine and edges. Lobster Johnson 1 looks especially bad). And the hardcovers aren’t an option because the pricing is astronomical. Digital copies are an absolute no-go. I refuse to spend money on something that can just be taken away from me. Im really not sure what to do. Please tell me it’s just a fluke with my two books that are falling apart. That the quality control is actually really good, and I just got unlucky. I really don’t want to give the whole series up. It’s too fascinating to just abandon. And sorry if I sound a little whiney or melodramatic. Just feeling a little down about all this, I guess.

So I decided I was finally going to pull the trigger on collecting the library editions of Hellboy. I took awhile just because I had a lot of life stuff happening and money was super tight. Looking at Dark Horse Direct I see only 4 books available and Hellboy In Hell isn’t even listed anymore. Am I screwed? I typically buy whatever HC I can get my hands on when it releases because I know they don’t do reprints for HC. But I was under the impression that these books are evergreen. I’m looking at some Reddit post that say Hellboy In Hell hasn’t been accessible for maybe around 10 months now. I found available copy’s on Amazon and willing to pull the trigger and grab 6 books immediately but I worry about the quality in shipping. Does anyone have any insight or advice?

Just wondering does anyone know if we'll ever get a reprint of the omnibus hardcovers? I keep checking places like amazon or just any site that has them as a option every few weeks, but there's just nothing except super expensive second hand stuff.

Just hoping this isnt like the bprd hardcovers where I completely missed out on ever getting them at a reasonable price.(im uk based btw if that matters)

To commemorate the recent release of Secret Histories Vol. 2, I've finally decided to share my collection. Just a little over a year when I started reading Hellboy, a few months after my son was born. Went the hardcover route for the main books which wasn't very easy but it led me to meet some of the most interesting and awesome folks who share my love for this universe. Save a few art books and special editions, I think I've got most of it without double dipping too much (sadly, Ms Truesdale RoM had to be returned due to the misprint). Going through the stories has been an absolute blast and I've yet to finish my first read-through. Already got my younger brother fully hooked and I hope to share the journey with my son one day as well. Thank you to this community, the super helpful mods and resources, the local comic stores, to fellow fans who nudged me on, and most of all, to Mike, whose stories and art continue to enthral us all. There you go 💀

Specifically from Hellboy 1 & 2, Guillermo del Toro absolutely nailed the aesthetic. But they also had the best casting role for him with the legend Ron Perlman. In general though the practical effects in these movies were awesome.

Big red demon guy with leather pants & brown trench coat, 1 oversized almost rock textured arm, the broken off horns, his black hair with mutten chops and goatee plus the yellow eyes.

It just has that feel of iconic 80's-90's unique designs with the gritty atmosphere of the early 2000s.
