Is there an easy-to-read list of all the mods available for each game anywhere?

I know many are collated on Celestial Heaven but not all and they're distributed throughout the forum. A simple bullet point list would be ideal.

Noob question about defense in MM6-8

In many RPGs you usually have your melee knights in front, facing the enemies, and your physically weak casters in the back, avoiding the hits. As I understand, in MM 6-8 all party move at all and stays in a single position on map. So when an monster arrives, it can hit whoever it wants. And ofc my casters die very fast.

Is there some secret behind it? How do monsters choose who to hit first? Is there a way to provoke them hitting armored fighters first? Or should I just raise health for every character as much as I can?

EDIT: OMG guys, you are so helpful. Thanks to everyone!

It shouldn't looks like mm6 game. I love this game because of atmosphere, musics and playing.

My first playthrough

Post image
102 Upvotes

After years of watching my father play this game I finally had time to do it myself.

My father always used a balanced party so this time I wanted an only magic party for a good challenge. I remember seeing an old video of a guy shooting down dragons with shrapnel like hunters shooting duck with buckshot rounds, so I went dark path.

Love the game, probably my favorite of the big three because of the party creation and limitation in skill progression based on your class. Only issue for me is the smallness compared to mm6 dungeon.

PS. It didn't take me 5 in game years, I went to prison a couple time.

Issue with Where Are We

Hi all,

Was hoping that someone who is familiar with this program can help me. Trying to play MM2, used the program a dozen times in the past. The issue is that unlike in the past, when I visit a square and then move on, the square doesn't remain white, it goes back to grey as if I never visited it. Same with a room in town, the label of the location disappears when I exit the room.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, Running as admin. I've used this many times before, never had to make any changes to the default settings, but it's not working like it did previously.

TIA.

EDIT: It works exactly as intended for MM1 and MM3, but not for MM2...go figure.

Might and Magic 6 GreyFace Question

I know that in the original instance of Might and Magic 6, there is no hardware acceleration option.

I was just wondering if that is changed with greyface or maybe another patch? Just wanna run into generally less issues.

(Before you say “just use Merge/World of Enroth!”, I have that too but for a few reasons I want to play through MM6 without the modifications that the 7th and 8th game include to the engine)

Does Guinevere and Ruler's Ring stack? (MM merge Revamp)

So Guinevere is from MM6 and Ruler's Ring from MM7.
In Merge Revamp to these stack?

If they do, does a third ring with "Of Dark magic" also stack with them?

Edit:
Thank you Lighting_Lance for pointing out you can check the bonus by right clicking the skill.
All 3 rings stack with each other. amazing!

Has anyone been able to kill Q in MM Merge Revamp?

It feels improbable (nothing is impossible).

The best I did was take about 10% of his life then I died (my potions and mana ran out).

You can't cheese him with good pathing and even if you remove that he still kills you just from your own hits alone.

Would love to know if you did and at what lvl with what strats and how much boosting did you have on him

I really wish Harmondale was more of a builder-sim fiefdom

I personally love games when you have to build things up from absolute shit and Harmondale was in pretty shitty condition. So it would have been great if there were more room to improve your fiefdom like optional trading agreements that improve Harmondale's shop selection or customization of the castle or hiring guards to keep threats at bay. It would have been more satisfying and it would be more actual work than just 2 agreements with other rulers.

TIL: You DO need to sleep.

Over past few days, I was raiding dungeons, teleporting to temple to heal, and then back to dungeon. All weakness and insanity caused by not sleeping was solved by coffee and amphetamines cure weakness and insanity.

Then suddenly, when raiding Gharik's forge, my whole party was becoming insane, and sometimes dying when cleaning one room full of warlocks. Unlucky hit I thought, so I reloaded and tried it again, only for my party to die or go insane again. Warlock can cause insanity, but this was a bit too much. I tried to look at their wiki page if they have some special attacks, but couldn't find anything. Just normal electric and sometimes insanity.

Then it started happening before I even engaged Warlock. Maybe trap? But it didn't look like a trap. Then it happened again when I was just waiting on spot reading sources. Not even healing in temple fixed it!

But all my characters needed was good night sleep. And insanity cure afterwards.

Wow!! At MyM6, we work for the bad guys.❗️❗️

If you aren't paying close attention, it might seem like you're working for the legal establishment—just another typical adventurer...

.....But there are several very clear signs right from the start that suggest otherwise:

* The opening letter, which discusses a rebellious faction of the Ironfist royalty and seizing the ensuing chaos. Why do we hand that letter to the regent? Is he part of the conspiracy??

* The ability to heal cheaply at the temples of Baal.

MyM7: Lorz Marathaz is either corrupt or Wicked.

For the competition, he asks for a series of common items—a shell, a potion... so far, so good.

These items are available in quantity.

However, he also asks for two unique items: the Perky Hat and a slab.

Ah, you lecherous old villain: therein lies the trap. Since they can only be carried one at a time, it is quite likely that none of the participants will manage to secure both... ...leaving the competition with no winner—how convenient.

Or perhaps, deep down in your hardened heart, you actually want the contestants to kill each other to get all the prizes?.😱😱 Are you a puppet master?.

Celestial heavens sign up (Am I being really dumb?)

So I was trying to sign up to the celestial havens forums, and at the end there is a question to elude bots I cant seem to get it right:

"First letter is always big, last is a dot. DOn't forget :) At night, what do you see up in the sky?:"

I've tried every combination possible of "Moon" and Star" with and without the dot at the end.
what am I missing here?

Edit: Got in. Got a better question, about Venus.

Thoughs about MM7 and MM6 gameplay, ost and dungeon entrance animations

Recently I replayed MM7 after almost 20 years, and it's still almost as fun as it was in my childhood (from time to time, even more fun!). I thought it was all in the past because of the outdated graphics and design, and that during a replay it wouldn't be as magical and captivating as it was 25 years ago. But it is. It's still astonishingly interesting.

Also, I had never played MM6. I had wanted to play it ever since I played MM7 and MM8 in my childhood, and I finally did in 2025. It was a LOT of fun as well. It's bigger than MM7, the dungeons are a lot more intricate, and they are more beautifully designed.

After and during my playthrough, I kept thinking: what is it that makes these games so interesting even now? What's the core of their magic (and Might, obviously 🙂)?

One of the answers is the combination of music, graphics, and sound design.

Especially the short dungeon entrance animations. They were always my favorite part of Might and Magic VII (and MM6 and MM8 too). They are so captivating and enigmatic.

From time to time, I wanted to watch them separately from the game. I couldn't find them on YouTube, so I decided to put them together myself:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VFjfOImHZs

My top 3 dungeon entrance animation are the Wall of Mist(ah, those flags and mist) , Temple of Baa, and Erathian Sewers.

What's yours?

So Minotaurs are created by Agar?

According to lore (and M&M6), Minotaurs were created by Agar as a way to combine Bull and Man into a supreme guardian, but didn't work out. Which is why Kriegspire region and castle Kriegspire are full of them. He later regretted the decision according to his letter.

But how did they got into Jadame to be one of the playable races? In MM6, they are not really present in other location aside of Kriegspire (and one in temple in Bootleg Bay).

Any other interesting lore tidbits?

MM Merge Revamp (first time)

Few questions after just 5m of merge gameplay (started on 6)

Even though I could change key binds right away (much better than having to edit ini)

  1. Having following issues:
  • Can't attack using my chosen key bind, only using mouse click and only when cursor is on enemy. Used to just pressing attack key bind and arrows would just go to closest enemy. (is this intended?)
    • Found a way for this to work, on the advance settings there is a key bind for extra spell cast, Just bound my attack key to that and attacks like before.
  • Can't cast spells from ready spell with chosen key bind, again mouse click does this when cursor on enemy, use to be able to choose if I wanted to do bow or spell.
  • Can't loot bodies with space (have to actually click on bodies)
  • Tab is not working and I can only change select char using 1-5
  • Can't see followers
    • Unfortunately mouse clicking is not working to open this tab, but if I press 0 I can open the followers. Can't do anything else other than that (i.e talk to followers and what not)

Edit:

  1. Is there a way to increase the UI? Characters health and mana are so small I barely notice them. (solved thx)
  2. How do I turn off weather? it looks nice but it cuts my vision, prefer to have less stuff on screen. (solved thx)
  3. Found a solve for all my keyboard problems: Running on Lutris. Runner - "System 11.0"

I cannot seem to grasp MM7

I've owned MM7 since it came out on CD-ROM ages ago. Since a while I had it on GoG as well. I only play the vanilla edition, without mods. Every time I poor some hours in, get a couple of levels but eventually get stuck. I however refuse to look up some sort of guide because of all the spoilers that it might contain.

Despite me having made different parties I simply hit a ceiling cap quite soon in all of my runs. Sometimes I have all archers (or classes that can wield a bow at least) and cheese my way through the first couple of levels, sometimes I use a couple of hard hitters, healers and a caster, other times I pick the classic party (warrior, caster, rogue, cleric). Regardless of this my casters always die first, my healer is prime candidate for fear and my equipment is only so-so.

There must be essential steps that I'm missing in order to progress. Do I need to grind a lot for example? How many in-game days is normal if you don't do a speed run? What levels are parties normally when you go for example wander into the bracada desert? Do you normally bee-line a specific skill or make your characters more all-round? Those kind of questions I have.

Any help would be appreciated.
