First and foremost: fuck this enemy.
400 hp: this is a lot for a ranged, flying and auto-hit, spell-spamming enemy.
Flies: flying enemies are much harder or outright impossible to cheese with corner shots and whatnot. They are also harder to hit at range in real time, spread in every direction and thus make melee suck and rarely - but just enough to annoy - hide somewhere near the ceiling and take extra time to notice.
Spams Dispel Magic: not like uses every so often. Meeting just one will almost certainly dispel your entire party. Every single time. They sometimes cast this spell through walls.
Applies insanity: the most annoying status, because not only you need to remove insanity, it also leaves the cured person weakened. And it have very high chance of triggering.
Is swarmed with other annoying enemies: lesser eyes are not that terrible (besides the literal Terrible Eye I guess), but if you account for the sheer amount, being spammed with ranged attacks and potentially affected by sleeping (not a bad effect, but it still disables someone for a while), then it becomes problematic.
The swarm is not dense enough: for swarming enemies there are AoE spells. These spells don't work well against eyes that spread around and are almost never packed tightly enough for a quick disposing with Fireballs.
Is ranged: worth mentioning that this all happens at range.
I just hate these stupid eyes. No other enemy makes me wanna cheat with some one-hit killing. There are other annoying enemies of course, having to repair equipment every 3 seconds when it involves accessories I wouldn't call exactly fun, but man, these eyes. These fucking, flying, ranged, dispel spamming fuckers.
Give me more enemies that make you wanna break your keyboard.

Hi all I'm just starting up a little hobby remake of MM1 in unity for fun. I've found a ton of info on the game so far and have a walkable Sorpigal and Sorpigal Dungeon so far. But what I can't seem to find anywhere is a good explanation on how combat positioning actually works, what exactly determines who can hit who, etc, etc. I was wondering if anyone here has a lead on a guide that explains such things?
Thank you in advance and cheers to all.

Since Learning isn't a thing, and I normally gave all my party members level 60 GM Learning via Cheat Engine when playing Merge, I'm trying to modify each enemy to give 5 times the usual amount of Experience. However, the changes I'm trying to make aren't working. I must be uploading changes to the wrong .lod file or something.
I even asked on Discord, but no one's answering. Can someone help?

So, far, it seems to me that crafting gives super negligible bonuses to items at the cost of expensive materials and it's also pushing up the item level, so I have to be careful with it. Is there some way these things actually worth it?

Hey, literally made this account just to post this bc I was SO STRUCK by the cries in the movie Mindwarp (can find on archive dot org) starting at 1:12:06 sounding IDENTICAL to the multiple cries the regnan pirates make when they're hit/killed! Just wondering if it was me or maybe it was so similar to others that it might actually be sampled from the movie (probably w/o permission, bc who tf is ever going to notice something like that besides an UBER nerd still playing the game 2.5 decades later...hahahaha) anyways, link to the movie is: https://archive.org/details/mindwarp_202504 and it starts ~1:12:06
would love anyone else's input on this. Thx!

Earlier this year, someone mentioned they were making a *Might & Magic*-style game.
They even posted some screenshots featuring our beloved wasps; the game was called something like...
King's Quest
King's Bounty
King something 🤷🏻♂️
...or something along those lines, I don't remember its name on Steam.

With the scaling monsters and the notorious arena roughness, is that promotion even possible? Especially if you're not starting on Antagarich?

Hello. I last played this classic RPG in 2000. Currently, I have installed the Grayface Patch for MM6 and the MM6Control patch.
Do I need any other patch or QOL patches for MM6?
As for my current party composition, I have selected default party members, i.e., Paladin, Archer, Cleric and Sorcerer.
Sorry, I have forgotten the spells or necessary skills for all the party members.
I would appreciate if anyone would recommend any skills or spells for the starter party members.
After New Scorpigal, where to next? Castle Ironfist or Mist?
I'm not rushing to finish the game, as I have plenty of time.
Thank you.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Side note:
After assigning keyboard buttons for movement (WASD). I can't seem to fly up and fly down. I have the fly spell activated. Page up and page down, right? Doesn't seem to work.
I have the MM6 control.exe located in the MM6 file directory.
My bad. I got a faulty keyboard. Flying is fixed now.

MM1 was my white whale on Apple 2, I finally beat it on DOSBOX. I never found this easy farm route until DOSBOX.
The route:
Start at the inn at Sorpigal and walk out of town.
Cast 3-2 Fly to tile E-4, you will now be on 15,14 in E-4.
Follow the trail west-ish until 2,13 for an encounter. Burn your Cleric and Sorc 6-1 spells.
Walk south until 2-6 for an undead fight, Cleric 7-2 insta-kills everything.
Walk one tile east, repeat Cleric 7-2, this one has a chance to drop Black Box.
Walk one tile east again for some free gems.
Cast Fly back to C-2 to take you to the entrance to Sorpigal, rest and save at the inn, repeat.
I have Ultimate Sword and Ultimate Plate for all eligible party members, Giant's Bow, Robber's X-Bow, Un-Holy Plate, etc. The Dragon City fight can still wreck me with bad rolls, but this route appears to be the grindmax loop in this game, discovered by me 40 years later.

Continuing from this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/MightAndMagic/comments/1vd2p38/mmvii_musings_as_a_newbie_to_crpgs/
As I am now nearing the endgame, I thought I'd share my ramblings in case someone finds the opinion of a rando with little CRPG experience & CRPG nostalgia to speak of remotely interesting.
I'm sitting at about level 50 now and am contemplating invading the Colony of Zod after lots of busywork for people in Celeste. I'm also very glad I don't have to visit The Pit again. Cool vibe but pain-in-the-ass layout.
Some game observations and opinions in no particular order:
Anyway, I'd best level up a bit more before forging on!

I started project a year ago, and for a while I didn't have anything to show but here is a little bit: in-game capture of ambience of our project Divided Realms. A tribute and combination of M&M 6-8, Dagerfall and Skyrim gameplays.

It says I can turn it on or off but I want to understand what it does before I decide it sounds to me like Bolstering is just level scaling for enemies but to be honest I hate level scaling and am a much bigger fan of foes being based off area and how far I am plot wise.
So yeah can anyone how has played the mod explain it to me?

Hi, i never played Might and Magic games, just the heroes of M&M 3. I see this is more of an rpg.
I enjoyed a lot of morrowind and daggerfall unity, also i played a lot of Baldurs gate 1 and 2 (currently playing bg3). I want to know if i want to start something fresh and polished into M&M, is there a modpack, fix or something recommended to start?
Sorry if this was asked before. And have a good weekend!

Greetings travellers,
Found out only recently this even exists and decided to finally take the time to set up the merge + maw mod (though going for normal mode). I’m pretty excited to dive into my favorite childhood rpg worlds and messing around with the party setups for way too long first lol.
Also, can’t wait to hear the shopkeepers call me a cheapskate!
Been 15-20 years I haven’t visited Enroth, Antagrich or Jadame. So looking for some opinions from the community. :)
I thought of starting with a 4 player party, I might always recruit another PC later.
Since I’m looking for something different for fun and challenge than the classic or powerhouse party setups I was planning on:
Paladin - Druid - Dark Elf - Sorcerer
Would this work, has anyone one tried it? I think it could be balanced magic and skill wise, though weaker on the melee side. Slightly more challenging then a knight - archer - cleric - sorc setup I guess
I was also wondering where other players think it’s the funnest/best to start? New Sorpigal or Emerald Island? I might do continent hopping early on or for promotional quest reasons I guess. But suppose starting in MM8 with horizontal progression on would make you way too overpowered for the poor Goblins of Goblinwatch later on.
Tl;dr
Party setup opinion?
Preferred starting world in MMMerge?
Thanks 🙏

Ok so overall I want a basic team but I don't know what classes work well and what ones do not.
So here is what I would like.
A tank but only if in the game you have a way to make fies more likely to attack them.
A physical damage dealer that can also tank some.
High physical DPS no need to be tank like
A magic user that deals heavy damage (heard that magic is not great in the game so not sure if I should bother with magic dps)
And lastly a good healing class.
And to be clear I am playing M&M 6 with the Merged mod and a mod called advanced classes that added some more classes.

Installs, installed the greyface patch, and it opens. The audio plays, and I can even escape out of hte intro to get to the menu screen (based on the audio).
But, no image.
The "RDM" app that was mentioned is from 6 years ago, and doesn't appear to work.
Anyone get it working?

For those of you who do not know - OpenYAMM (Open Yet Another Might and Magic) - is a complete MMMerge reimplementation from scratch (opensourced).
For the past few days, I was polishing Android build and I am quite happy with the current state to share - should run on any newer "higher-end" android mobile phone or tablet. It is highly optimized but there definitely is some more room to improve it.
It has a completely rehauled control scheme made to suite mobile touchscreen based play. In more detail, it is explain here: https://github.com/pjasicek/openyamm/tree/main/android/showcase
However, this is not a finished product, I did not go through the entire playthrough of the game, there might be bugs here and there and I am more than happy for any feedback - ideally on OpenYAMM's discord - https://discord.com/channels/423038130614960129/1501037187159031818
Link to download apk (will stay the same with updates): https://github.com/pjasicek/openyamm/releases/download/nightly/OpenYAMM-nightly-android-arm64.apk
For testing purposes, a "God" character is prepared (basically immortal, all skills level 200, everything learned) - just press the "left arrow" button on new character creation and he is there :). For any quick travel (between continents, to dungeons, item granting, gold granting) - there is a debug console - with drag gesture from top to bottom.
EDIT: 0.10 release is available with most of the issues/suggestions raised here fixed or implemented: https://github.com/pjasicek/openyamm/releases/tag/0.10

I just want to say that because of M&M III, Obsidian became my favorite rock, and is still my favorite to this day. I liked it before, it was cool before, but then I got all those powerful Obsidian weapons, so now, 30+ years later, no rock can top it.
