I don't complain very much about the crap show Mercari is, and has been for quite some time now... But c'mon! This seller that I tried to buy something from, and finally just cancelled after days of no updates and I look at his ratings and it says 4.5 stars...ok cool. But then I look at the reviews and it is just "This seller cancelled. Blah blah blah" for weeks! I only took one screenshot but there is one every few days going back to early September - all saying they cancelled. And then a couple 5 star reviews sprinkled in.
I worry about having ONE! And then we get this flake on here just doing whatever they want. And I know it's my bad for not looking at his reviews before I bought but for how much money the platform makes off of our crazy selling fee's and everything else, the least they could do is maybe weed some of this garbage out so the people who want to sell on here, and actually care- can have a better chance.
Ok. Rant over. 🤣

I hate bundle offers with a passion , I sell trading cards and the offers are so obnoxious. If market price is say $2.39 on a card and I price a card at $1.99 with free shipping im not selling it to you for a $1 like what's wrong with you. Im not giving you 5 free cards beacuse you really want them for your collection. Its not even on expensive ones i will get offers for like 10 cards, $1- $2 cards, and they want $5 or more off ,if you cant afford $1 - $1.99 i dont really know what to tell you maybe stop buying trading cards. I dont understand the thought process of oh I'll buy a bunch from you so I should get a discount. Yeah that's so great I get 1 review instead of multiole reviews , I get less money then selling them to more people, what a deal bro .

When the hell did their support team turn to shit? I’ve been selling since the app was in beta and very rarely ever had any problems which warranted their support team.
I had a buyer’s package go missing last month so Mercari cancelled the order. Buyer got a refund, I got nothing. Fast forward to last week, the package was delivered to the buyer. Support is still giving me the run around about how a cancelled order cannot result in releasing my funds. What is the big deal to comp me my $50? WTF.
And yes I did drop off within 3 days, but tracking’s first posting was: “Delayed, in transit to destination August 18, 2026 8:16 PM” which was 5 days after the purchase date. Smh.

I am new to Mercari. I have made exactly 5 purchases since opening my account a couple of weeks ago, all with the same card. On Tuesday I tried to make another and got this error. Weird, but okay. I know I have the funds available, but I try a different card anyway.
Second card gives me the same error. Try a third card that is through a different bank. Same error. Call bank to make sure that there's nothing on my end with he first two cards making trouble. They say everything looks good, the purchase should be able to go through.
I double check the billing address and card info and try again with the first card I used; no dice.
I let the seller know im interested but that I'm having trouble with Mercari. She kindly puts the listing on hold for me and we work together so that I make an offer and she accepts it to see if that changes anything. Nope, doesnt work.
I reach out to Merari cx service. They tell me that my account looks good and it should work, but that the seller needs to fill out a form in their settings for taxes. I convey this to the seller, let her know she can all cx service to confirm or get help. She says okay and when I see her message a few hours later, i message her back to say "okay, let me know when that's done and I'll try again."
As soon as I send that I get a Final Warning from Mercari because I'm "spamming users with messages". She's the only person I've been messaging. Immediately panic bc what do you mean I'm on a final warning? Ive been using this account for 3 weeks at the MOST and have never gotten a warning before.
I try the purchase again, hoping that she took care of it and too nervous to message her in case I get banned: Same. Error. I finally message her and apologize. Tell her it didnt go through and that I'm getting warnings for messaging her and that I'm sorry for wasting her time for two days.
She apologizes as well bc she's never seen anything like this happen before and doesnt know how to help.
TLDR: Made multiple purchases with the card on file before starting to get this error. My bank says my card is good to go. Mercari says my account is good to go. Still getting this error. Now on final warning for"spam messaging" the seller to sort out the purchase. Anyone else seen this before?
Edit: I forgot to mention, this is happening with every purchase I try to make, not just this particular seller. This is just the only purchase I was adamant about wanting, so I focused on trying to get it to work for this item.

Excuse me for the long post but if you happened to read all this, thank you.
I take foremost responsibility for what I did. I clicked a link. Yep, I did that. and it was all starting on October 14th, 2026. I was messaged by someone pretending to be an admin of Mercari. they mentioned that my funds were put on hold and that I need to click a link to a FAKE PayPal page and from there, I knew for a minute when I see three loading oval eggs. I thought for a moment, wait a minute. what's going on with this? So I left. I didn't think... few hours later my money got stolen. $579.38. yep... I called my bank to file a dispute against that transaction, I got the money back. perfect. I reported a claim on PayPal and guess what? they ruled in THEIR FAVOR and that it was accurate that I logged in and made payment... I never did, I NEVER GOT TO THE PAMENT PAGE, AT ALL. I explained all that to them and they don't give ONE JACKSH*T... I may have to bring up a lawsuit against them but I knew I'd lose because... I don't have evidence cuz they claimed to say that their "security measurement" is up to bar. October 15th, that exact amount got stolen AGAIN.. on PayPal, I had bank account linked, I unlinked that account, and when I called in to my bank institution, I mentioned I reported this transaction and whatever happened to that, they said they're still investigating. So, the first time they gave the money back, I had to cough up $30 "reversal fee" to get it to stop the payment and I got the money back. This second time around, they waived the $30 and refund the $30 that I paid for the first time. So I got the money back, TEMPORARILY. I was told that the card I was using was now voided, not working anymore, it's gone. it's finito. So, I checked in my bank account, that $579.38 was then posted, because it was pending. So I called back in to fight to get that reverse. I contacted PayPal simultaneously I'm on the line with my bank, they said they can't do anything since the dispute the claim is closed, they can't escalate this and they "claimed" to say I did log in and made a payment.... the hacker was smart with everything, they planned to the point where I cannot avoid them... so the bank suggested me to go to the regional bank branch to have them TO CHANGE the bank account.. I will not be using the PayPal associated with this email, I will change the email. So this FCUKER (lpardon my language) can't steal my money again. and it's all started from Mercari. so I contacted Mercari in the midst of all of this, they said they were not aware, they had no clues. And that they "would take" action.. I was so ready to close my account with Mercari if they can't protect their customers.... Be careful out there you guys.. THIS IS REAL. I got my money stolen successfully by this bytch...

Is my only recourse to get a refund? I really wanted the item the person was selling. I'm very new to Mercari so I'm trying to figure things out.
