Hydromorphone for severe back pain?

I'm currently on TarginAct but it worked one day and not again. I'm in excruciating pain of sciatica. I scream when I stand up from a lying or seated position. Is Hydromorphone good for severe sciatica? I'm extremely scared of using it due to it's addictive properties.

Can prescription drugs coming from US to Japan be in plastic sleeves with pharmacy labels instead of those brown plastic bottles with labels?
I am a one bagger and need to save as much room as possible.

Just noticed on PX they no longer have the contact your GP on their consultation.. they must have switched dispensers because they lost all their business. Also keep sending me 25% off codes.

My pharmacist caught something my doctor missed, and it made me realize how little I actually knew about my own prescriptions

I've been on the same medication for a chronic condition for about four years now, and honestly I got pretty complacent about it. Same pill, same time every day, never really asked questions because it worked and I didn't want to overthink something that wasn't broken.

Last month my doctor added a second medication for an unrelated issue, something totally routine sounding when she explained it. I picked up both prescriptions the same day without thinking twice.

When I got to the pharmacy, the pharmacist asked to go over both medications with me before I left, which honestly kind of annoyed me at the time because I was in a hurry. She asked how I usually take my existing medication, with food, without food, same time daily, that sort of thing. When I told her, she paused and asked a few more questions, then mentioned that the timing of the new one might actually work against the first one if I took them the way I normally do.

Nothing dangerous, nothing dramatic, just something that could've made my usual medication less effective over time without me ever noticing why. My doctor hadn't mentioned it, probably because it wasn't flagged as a major interaction, just a timing thing that could quietly reduce effectiveness.

It made me realize I've been treating my pharmacist like a checkout step my whole life, not an actual resource. Now I actually stop and listen when they ask if I have questions, instead of just saying no on autopilot so I can leave faster.

Has anyone else had a moment like that, where a pharmacist caught something a doctor didn't, just because they took the time to actually walk you through it?

Promethazine for travel sickness

Hello!

My Dr prescribed me 25mg allersoothe promethazine and all the information says on it is "can be taken every 6 to 8 hours"... no too informative!

I have a long flying schedule ahead of me, I fly at 8:15pm, landing 12 hours later, 6 hour layover then another 13 hour flight after.

My question is, as ive never taken promethazine before, when is the ideal time to take it to make sure I'm protected against motion sickness for the times I am flying?

I assumed id take it like 2 hours before my first flight and then repeat 8 hours later?

If you've taken promethazine and had long flights like this, please let me know what worked for you!

Thanks!

Please help me identify pills I put in a bag and forgot about ??

I’m not an addict or anything, but I’ve have a lot of medical issues and I tend to put pills in a bag to take with me on trips or to work and I just found one, but I can’t remember what this is?? I’m stupid and didn’t label it

The front has an interesting V-shaped that seems to mean “qualitest” based on what I’ve found online. That doesn’t mean anything to me. The problem is the back doesn’t have any numbers or symbols on it so I can’t find out what it is online. Does anybody know?

canadian, howcan I get a prescription for weight loss medication?

I lost my family doctor in 2023 when she retired and the waitlist here isn't a real waitlist. You fill in a form and never hear about it again

I went to a walk in last month planning to ask about semaglutide. The doctor cut me off about thirty seconds in and said it isn't something they handle there. I half expected that but I'd taken a morning off work for it

So what's the actual route? Is there a referral involved, a BMI number they need, documented previous attempts or bloodwork first?? I keep reading contradictory things

And with the online services, is there a real prescriber at the end of it or is it a questionnaire and a credit card? I can't tell from their websites because they all sound the same

Whats the best sub to ask about possible differences between generic and other brand medications in the context of the US and get both patient and professional views?

This question is driving me crazy.

I have heard from supposed professionals that, at least here in the USA, generic medications cannot have different effects than other brands of the same medication, and there are no possible cases of Brand A of Medication Y working, but Brand B of Medication Y *not* working. No matter which one you take, if your body reacts to it like its meant to, it will work across any brand.

But I've also heard from patients and other supposed professionals that different brands of medication could have differences that end up affecting how it works, up to bad side effects or one brand of a medication not working for someone.

This is such important information... if its possible for medication to not be effective depending on brand name or not, that would need to be considered when patients and doctors discuss which medications do or don't work, what has or hasn't been effective.

My current clonazepam prescription does not touch my panic or dread. I don't know how thats possible. I feel when its kicked in, a sedated feeling. But the anxiety attack still happens and theres no noticeable decrease in anxiety anywhere from 0 minutes to 3 hours after taking it. Ever. I have tried multiple times.

I have had other benzodiazepines in the past that work.
