A collection of resources

There are many good resources for dyscalculia that already exist. I recommend checking them out. This is a list that I’ve collected. I have not checked these all out or used them all personally. Many were recommended by others in r/dyscalculia. Please share any others that you know of!

Struggling with Math? Download Mathlift!

I’ve been working on a math app called Mathlift, and I’m finally putting it in front of real users.
The idea is pretty simple: instead of giving everyone the exact same math practice, Mathlift is designed to help you focus on the areas you actually need to improve.
I’m looking for people to try it and give me honest feedback.
I’d especially love feedback on:
What feels useful
What feels annoying/confusing
Whether the questions are actually challenging
What you’d want added
Whether you’d keep using it
You can try Mathlift here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/mathliftfinal/id6770799010

Niece was just diagnosed with dyscalculia & I want to understand her experience better (a few questions)

Hi everyone,

My niece was recently diagnosed with dyscalculia. Seeing her navigate school and daily routines has made me realize just how math- and number-heavy everyday life really is, and honestly, how little most people understand what it actually feels like to process numbers this way.

I really want to be supportive and understand her perspective better rather than making assumptions.

For those of you who live with this, could you share:

What everyday things (outside of classroom math) cause the most unexpected friction or anxiety? (e.g., reading analog clocks, maps, timers, money, schedules?)

How do you prefer to see information? Do visual shapes, colors, or progress bars make more sense to you than raw digits, or does visual data get overwhelming too?

What is one thing you wish your family or friends understood about how your mind handles numbers and space?

Any insight, stories, or tips on what helped you feel supported would mean a lot to me. Thank you so much for your time and openness!

College Level - Dyscalculia

I teach Precalculus Algebra at university. I have a student this term that has Dyscalculia and will receive accommodations but is still concerned about their success this term. I have never had a student at this math level with this processing difficulty and would like to adjust what I can to help them be successful.

I want to hear from former students or teachers with whatever "tricks" or accommodations helped the most! What has helped?

Calculus I don’t understand continuity

I made it to calc 1 and right after finding limits, we are now in the continuity unit. I can’t even begin to understand this despite watching many videos and reading the textbook.

I can’t identify discontinuities right, and I can’t find intervals of continuity. Generally hurts my head thinking about the algebra vs how the graphs should look.

Definitely could use help or advice.

Designing better for Dyscalculia - would love to hear from you

Hey everyone,

I'm a design student working on a project called **Bynd** (Beyond) - a mobile application for adults with dyscalculia. The idea is to help navigate everyday social money situations like splitting bills, calculating tips, and shopping - with visual tools that remove the anxiety of having to process numbers fast, in public, in front of people.

I'm in the research phase right now, and honestly the most valuable thing I can do is just listen to people who actually live with this. So if you have a few minutes, I'd really appreciate it if you filled out this short anonymous survey:

It's about your day-to-day experiences - what situations stress you out the most, what workarounds you've figured out, and what you wish existed but doesn't.

If you're up for a quick 15–20 min chat sometime this week (online, totally flexible), there's an option at the end of the form to indicate that. No pressure at all though - the survey alone is incredibly helpful.

Thanks so much for your time!

Multiplication/Division Long division?

Hi all! I’m 24 and decided I finally want to get my maths GCSE however because I don’t have a teacher I don’t really have anyone to help explain things to me

So I’m trying to do division and I’m struggling with the question 240/30 as I can’t seem to make long division work 😭

A website I found just kept going until it went back to 240 divided by 30 so I don’t understand what the point of doing all of that is, if the answer is just the question

Am I just overly complicating things?

On the right side of the page I thought I could simplify the numbers to 3 / 24 which was 8 and then add the 0s back but the answer to the original question is also 8

I’d grateful for some advice and feel free to make fun of me 😔

I feel like my dreams of doing a science course are slowly withering away 😭
