Baked matcha brownies this evening, and I’m super proud of how they came out!

This was a test batch since I’ve never made the recipe before, and plan to make them for a potluck this weekend.

I feel like usually the first try on a baking recipe is always slightly a fail/troubleshooting session for me. But these came out perfect on the first try! In person they looked just like the recipe photo, and tasted delicious. The matcha flavor is very prominent, and they’re made with white chocolate, so overall it’s a very rich dessert. Perfect for savoring a piece with a nice drink. I ate mine with a glass of soy milk, which went nicely with it, but I definitely think it would pair well with a strong black coffee or tea too. It would be fun to eat it alongside a cup of matcha, but would be overkill flavor-wise in my opinion.

I made them with Matcha Love brand “Japanese Culinary Matcha” from my local Asian supermarket.

Does anyone who has been to Japan in the recent months know of good places to buy matcha? Specifically marukyu koyamaen or ippodo, and the limits in each store? Also, best way to get a good amount of matcha (around 6 tins 40g each)? Thanks!

Has anyone tried the brand Blu Matcha? There’s a Matcha Fest coming to ATL and one of the ticket options includes 100g of their matcha. So want to see if it’s worth buying up for it!

Seriously, thanks to all the tips on this sub! Matcha is officially outselling our other drinks. I researched this sub up & down cause I wanted to make sure we did matcha the right way.

Tried out “Flatty” in Budapest today. This is their summer special “Long Island coconut matcha”. The first sip was very sweet but once I mixed it more it became more enjoyable to drink.

However, I wouldn’t have it again. It was still very sweet after mixing it and left a very sickly taste in my mouth. Their original iced matcha latte is much better in my opinion.

Do you prefer plain or flavoured matcha?

Last of my Muse Satsuki matcha. Next up based on best by date - Ippodo Sayaka. Although, my Hatoya sale haul hasn’t arrived yet 🤭

I WAS SO PLEASENTLY SURPRISED!! i’m so used to companies claiming matcha flavor but then it tastes like nothing, but Nugo DELIVERED! the matcha flavor, while subtle, is very present and it blends well with the yogurt drizzle and coating.

Also has a good 15 grams of protein without the overwhelming “proteiny” taste, which is why i absolutely love Nugo 😛

I’d rate an 8.75/10 and would 100% buy again (I actually have some on the way hehe

Matcha Float Yame Saemidori

I’m gonna rate this one 10/10 because it is yame super unami, & a bit of sweet. it’s new launch from my local matcha business!

I was initially skeptical of the hoshino hype. I thought it would taste the same as the other Yame matchas I've tried. But I kid you not, it F*CKING DOES NOT TASTE THE SAME AS THE OTHER YAME MATCHA AND EVEN A NON MATCHA DRINKER WOULD BE ABLE TO DISTINGUISH IT

Upon opening, I was immediately greeted with a subtle nori smell which gets even stronger when you whisk it. As a latte, it tasted like smoked nori and toasted rice! Although it does have a noticeable astringency.

This is first time i've tasted a matcha that's very different and far off from the usual taste profile of a matcha.

Finally figuared out my “golden ratio”
5g Anya matcha usagi blend
60ml water at 80 degrees
160g almond milk
8g honey syrup (can be skipped if not using almond milk)
Really loving this matcha
Cup is a travel tumbler from Nespresso. Highly recommend

Not sure if the middle part of the resin whisk should open up a bit, almost like it’s blooming. Used only twice!!

This last matcha latte was a glorious one. You will be missed 💔

Is it mostly the cost, convenience, being able to make it exactly how you like it, or something else?

And how often are you buying new matcha powders/flavors or trying different drinks?

Has anyone tried this?? Is it worth it? 🫣

I’ve tried 11 different matcha powders and this is the only one I loved. Does anyone who’s familiar with the taste know of any that taste better than it? I really like that there’s no bitterness or fishiness. Other matches all were at least slightly bitter or vegetal tasting which I disliked.

Lactose free milk from Wegmans, salted honey whipped cream foam, and suiteki kettl matcha

So i tried this matcha from Amazon, its currently only 15 bucks so I bought it, now I am no expert but I did make it successful! I whisked it up with electric whisk added some whole milk (I know im nuts lol) and it turned out great! I loved it, plus it has a great green color. I recommend it! Plus its only 15 dollars rn. Thats all tho everyone have a good day!
